  i was in the "truth" for 5 or 6 years...i asked many pioneers,elders, other brothers and sisters...all of them really confused...one elder told me it had sumthing to do with one of daniel's prophecy's??.

  can someone explain to me fully about the "1914" situation??

  I just wanted to add: Russellites predicted the END OF THE WORLD for October, 1914.
  
  They now call that 1914 prediction a "hit" (i.e. not a "miss") because WWI started in August 1914.
  
  They believe that WWI was started by the newly arrived Satan, upset because he was ousted from heaven.
  
  SSSSSOOOOO..... that means that Satan, who by definition "does not know the day nor the hour" of Jesus (invisible????!!!!???) return, started WWI THREE MONTHS BEFORE he was ousted from heaven.
  
  Let me restate that belief: Satan started WWI after he came to earth because he was so pissed off that he was sent down to the earth. But somehow, he managed to start WWI three months before he was kicked out of heaven.

  wouldn't it be nice if we could beat the wts at it's own game?

  basically set up a fake "religion" and use their books and lit., rewritten so there is no copyright.

  basically say that we are a new form of jws who have been told by jehovah that there is new light and he has chosen a new voice to say it.

  An interesting idea, but would require a huge captital investment to get off the ground.
  
  Did you know there is ALREADY a similar group in Romania, call themselves the "Real Jehovah's Witnesses" and use WT literature only if it was printed prior to the 1960s. They are a splinter group that feel Brooklyn's Watchtowerism has apostatsized The Truth(tm). So in a way, you idea is already happening; however that splinter group, I think, is sincere and not a charade like you propose.

  One regular poster and former *ELDER* here told me in email that in addition to helping him to smell the coffee, he then used the info to get some other elders to exit.

  2 years back i did a huge power point presentation about cults & jw's for a sociology of religion class.

  i came across some info pertaining to the wt being one of the largest landholders in nyc and also a 5th position in some business status.

  for the life of me, i can't find that source now!

  what's the deal in the 'new system'?

  of course i wouldnt want to encourage speculation, but when i was involved in the jws there was sometimes talk of what would or wouldn't be in/acceptable in 'the new system'.

  i heard some happifying comments like there wont be any electric guitars or transport, and we wont be wearing clothes but we'll still have seasons

  Even the Watchtowerism's own image of the "new system" doesn't make ANY sense.
  
  A quick reality check:
  
  *ALL* the clothes I've ever seen in an WT image shows CLOTH; appears to be cotton, often you see patterned cloth. This means TEXTILE MILLS, which means TEXTILE WORKERS which means NOT EVERYONE can be a farmer producing their own food.
  
  Furthermore, (for those not working in the textile mills) Producing your own food will be a FULL TIME JOB, back breaking, and mind-numbingly boring (if you are accustomed to spending your day online). Even if you have agricultural machinery (i.e. tractors, combine harvester, etc.) it will be damn hard work; without the heavy equipment it will be a struggle to maintain even subsistence level.
  
  Even the beachball the lion is holding demands: an oil well to drill for crude oil; a petrochemical factory to produce the plastic; and a manufacturing factory to produce the ball; let's not forget a logistics/trucking system to get the ball from the factory to the lion.
  
  And don't get me started about the metal in what appears to be a metal shaft on the sun shade.
  
  In short: WT depicts a post-Apocalypse scene which requires systems which they say will no longer exist then. An unrealistic and poorly thought out belief system.

  Oh, you can also get the 1914 date independently using the following forumula, therefore it MUST BE TRUE!!!
  
  (inaccurate measurement of random part of great pyramid) x (inch for a year subsitution, using the Imperial inch, unknown in ancient egypt) = 1914
