Stop shouting at me!!!!!
by New Worldly Translation indid anyone else notice when they were a dub and they read the society's literature how many exclamation marks the writers used.
it used to really get on my nerves.
apart from being a punctuation faux pas to use that many !

Overuse of exclaimation points is a bad habit! I find that I suffer from this bad habit! I look forward to the day when I will be cured!

JWs and moving
by rebel8 indid you ever notice that, when a dub moves, all the other dubs help?
i remember many a time when someone moved, the person would just pass it around to everyone in the kingkong hall, and they'd all show up to help.
those who had trucks were obligated to show up.

What I wonder is: If you feel that this is a worthless cult then why are any of you all tell me that to my face at the meetings or in service or anywhere else but on the internet????
=======
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!
I would happily educate about what a cult (aka High Control Group) is, what the warning signs, are, etc. Then you can decide if JWs fit the definition. Peronlly, I put them at an 8.3 (on a cult-o-meter scale of 1 to 10).
Please, PLEASE, come to my place in service. We can have a nice cup of coffee and you can learn about cults, High Control, and more.
The problem is, I almost never see JWs anymore. One billion hours per year? Where do they all go? Certainly not around here, that's for sure!

Physics Challenge! Explain "entangled particles" to me
by AlmostAtheist inhey all,.
i'm totally fascinated by the concept of entangled particles.
as i understand it, you take a proton (or something tiny like that), split it apart, but don't observe the resulting particles.
-
Quotes
I had a semester of Quantum Physics at University.
Let me see if I can help....
The De Broglie wave equation collapses into....
no, wait a sec...
The Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle demands that the Planck constant must....
Nope, that's not helping either.
Um... uh...
OK. There's these particles, see. And sometimes they date other particles. And they want to get out of the relationship (so they can spend their weekends chasing other particles); but they can't split up because they're entangled. So sometimes the particles will drift away from the other particles, so they can get out of the entanglement but avoid being called "Opposer Particles" or "Apostate Particles".
Got it?

Finger in the chili
by anasazi init is a hoax.
she was arrested for it.
this fact that a woman made a complaint about finding a finger tip in her chili and thus it hurt wendy's business shows that two witnesses are necessary for any accusation to be validated.

Quotes
As I make my way through this train wreck, it gets more and more weird:
=====
I have no complaints against the WTS I have no dealings with them. Are all of you Bethelites? That is the only way that you can have complaints against the WTS. If you were not Bethelites, you don't have dealings with the WTS, only the local congregation. They are not the same.
======
Once again, **WRONG**. The Jehovah's Witness religion is a CENTRALLY CONTROLLED religion. None of the elder's bodies are independent; rather they are strictly controlled by the central headquarters.
Proof:
- elder appointments must be approved by the Circuit Overseer (a travelling representative of the WTBTS) and also be approved by the Service Committee at Bethel
- the elders have an extensive rulebook/guidebook on exactly how to go everything. This book is published by WTBTS. It is called "Pay Attention To Yourselves And To All The Flock". You can read a copy here: http://watchtower.greatnow.com/.
- elders constantly receive instruction from WTBTS headquarters in the form of letters addressed "To the local body of elders".
There are more proofs, but this should be sufficient.
Sheesh, anasazi, for a JW apologist, you should at least become familiar with the basic tenets of the faith!

First, I don't respect messages and messengers that include WTBTS in their messages. We are Jehovah's Witnesses, not members of the Watchtower Society.
=====
Wrong, Wrong, *WRONG*, anasazi, you are wrong.
Proof: The second question asked of all baptismal candidates, since about 1985, is: "Do you understand that your dedication and baptism identify you as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in association with God's spirit-directed organization?"
The "organization" (ie WTBTS) is part and parcel with your beliefs; perhaps you forgot about that? Maybe you need a reminder of exactly what Jehovah's Witnesses actually believe? Sounds like you are unfamiliar.

What has been your most spiritual experience?
by Qcmbr inok highly loaded question but i'd like to know!
i come from the viewpoint that we are spiritual beings having mortal experiences ergo we are having constant spiritual experience that maybe makes it seem commonplace..i'd be interested if anyone else has noticed spiritual events happening?

On some occassions, making love to my wife was so awesome, it almost made me believe in a higher power.
Also, just this evening: I was driving in the rain, and the radio station was playing side 2 of Bruce Springsteen's "Born To Run" album. The end of "Jungleland" gave me massive goosebumps and a wonderful bittersweet feeling -- a spiritual experience, if you will. Truly wonderful.

SNEAKY Bastards!
by Jez inmy husband (non-jw) just called me from work, seems 2 people walked into his workplace, walks up to him and says, "can you put these in your coffee room?
" at the same time shoving 2 mags upside down into his hand.
he was busy, says, "sure" (thinking nothing of it).

Julia made the observation that the JWs must be having a hard time placing literature if they have to hide who they are and hid the more "boring" magazine.
===============
I think your friend Julia hit the nail on the head. When I wasn't here last week, JWs called on my wife; she took the mag (because she wants to help me set them up for a good ol' fashioned a$$ whooping). Anyway, it turns out that there was a Asleep! hidden inside the WitchPower. (surpisingly, the Witchpower had the more interesting cover).
As for not identifying themselves: reminds me of when an old high school friend tried to sell me on Amway a few years ago. We were 45 minutes into his presentation before he mentioned the name Amway. (I wasn't surprised, I was just waiting -- seemed like forever -- for the penny to drop.

Count me.
After a couple of years of my "gently drifting" away, my (now ex-) wife left me "to protect her spirituality" (whatever the heck that means).
In retrospect, it all turned out for the better, which is only fair, because I wouldn't have been married at the impossibly young age of 21 if it wasn't for this religion in the first place.

Thanks. I'll (eventually) add this to http://quotes.watchtower.ca/blood-guilt.htm
The review is refering to:
*** United in Worship of the Only True God, 1983, p. 155 ***
The Scriptures show that if we are part of any organization that is bloodguilty before God, we must sever our ties with it if we do not want to share in its sins.
