It is interesting to note definition 1-B, which is specific to the beliefs of Christian Science. I wonder if they proudly point to this inclusion in the dictionary as some sort of "proof" of the validity of their beliefs, incorrectly assuming that just because they get a special definition of "god" in the dictionary that this is somehow a show of support for their particular definition.

another shunning experience

vivamus' post reminded me of some of my shunning experiences and one i had recently.

twice i have been doing yard work in the front of my house and my "annointed" jw mother and her car group have pulled up and parked right there in front of my house.

Although definition (2 A) of LIBEL allows for ORAL as well as written comments, in Common Law LIBEL is always WRITTEN words (for example, this forum).

Just thought you could use a friendly correction, since you seem to be (mis) using SLANDER often.

Perhaps I have not made my point very well, let me try again. My question was about the extent or FREE SPEECH within the JW organization/congregation. I simply used the destruction of the temple as one possible example. Don't get hung up on my choice of example; this question is about FREE SPEECH.

Interesting. Many people have tried to do this, regarding many, many important bible topics, from the destruction of the temple, to the basis for the date 1914, to the WTBTS 's formal association with the Unitied Nations. In all cases that I am aware of (and I have read dozens, perhaps hundreds) the person is tried for Apostasy, simply for asking the question or for doing, as you call it, "trying to convince them otherwise".

New Question: (8) Were you aware that people are expelled as apostates for doing what you have suggested: "trying to convince them otherwise".

If you felt that you were personally in disagreement about some bible t teaching, (for example, if you recognized that the temple was NOT destroy in 607 BCE but rather in circa 587 BCE, would you have the right to free speech to discuss your opinion and the proof you have for your opinion with the Brothers and Sisters?
