Are you Jokeing?
No offence U Bruce.
i am doing some research on neanderthals.
we know that this species existed and by very recent dna test we can tell that they are definitely not human.has any one done anything on this subject or the accuracy of carbon dating?

I hope you all are still fit and well.
I got you message on the answer phone the other day. Did you ear the VM on FT I left? We'll have to speak soon.
I understand where you are coming from on the above Neanderthals and the Bible thing. Your quest for truth is more complicated than mine. One reason why I haven't dug as deep as you is faith in a creator, that cares for us humans and I feel has things in his control.
The more we ask questions, some times can make us more confused. The point you made about.....
>I have one question that I hope that some one can answer: If there is no God, How do people speak in tongues at churches? Whether this is from a good or bad source, where does it come from if there is not a God?<
Just about sum things up for me.
Good point mate. I hope someone will try and answer it.
warm regards

this question is mostly for those of you who still believe in the bible to some extent.
my mother-in-law called the other day to see if rileygurl and i were going to the memorial this year.
we told her that we wouldn't be attending.
I will be attending the memorial as usual. This time I've been seriously thinking of partaking. I keep telling my wife this and she takes it as a joke, although I can detect she is slightly worried.
I probably won't of course, out of respect for the families feelings!
I could wait and be one of the last ones to leave and have a crafty wee sip!
I suppose partaking at home on my own would be the best thing to do. I don't think there as to be others there to observe, do you? After all it's not like baptism (a public display of your dedication).
something to read,.
i just found a site where david yoder describes the amish culture in great detail.
it is fascinating to get an inside view of their world.
Larc,
Thanks for the Link. I started reading and now I find I can't stop :) . It's a pity Ray Franz couldn't put the full text of is books on the Web. But there again I don't begrudge him of any recompence his books (if any!)have bought him.

i have been a jw for 20 yrs and still active(family reasons).
but nobody but nobody has refuted to my mind, the fact nobody does the evangelizing work jesus did.

I understand your point. Infact this is/was something I want(ed) an explanation to.
One thing I keep in mind is explained in the WTS own publications....
“The kingdom of God is in your midst.” (Lu 17:20, 21)
*** it-2 167 Kingdom of God ***
In what way was God’s Kingdom ‘in the midst’ of those to whom Jesus preached?
Trusting in Jehovah’s power to protect him and grant him success, Jesus entered his public ministry, announcing to Jehovah’s covenant people that “the appointed time has been fulfilled,” resulting in the approach of the Kingdom of God. (Mr 1:14, 15) In determining in what sense the Kingdom was “near,” his words to certain Pharisees may be noted, namely, that “the kingdom of God is in your midst.” (Lu 17:21) Commenting on this text, The Interpreter’s Dictionary of the Bible observes: “Although frequently cited as an example of Jesus’ ‘mysticism’ or ‘inwardness,’ this interpretation rests chiefly upon the old translation, ‘within you,’ [KJ, Dy] understood in the unfortunate modern sense of ‘you’ as singular; the ‘you’ ([hy·mon']) is plural (Jesus is addressing the Pharisees—ÞLu 17 Üvs. 20) . . . The theory that the kingdom of God is an inner state of mind, or of personal salvation, runs counter to the context of this verse, and also to the whole NT presentation of the idea.” (Edited by G. A. Buttrick, 1962, Vol. 2, p. 883) Since “kingdom [ba·si·lei'a]” can refer to the “royal dignity,” it is evident that Jesus meant that he, God’s royal representative, the one anointed by God for the kingship, was in their midst.
I don't totaly agree with all the above...eg; The WT disagrees that
"The theory that the kingdom of God is an inner state of mind, or of personal salvation"
Since I have come to understand that the Kingdom can be a part of a Christian by Holy Spirit, or within your midst.
The point is that the society say that the King of that Kingdom was among them at that time, he still is today. . The Kingdom is Jesus, so preaching about the Kingdom is the bearing witness to the Christ and all he as done for mankind.
That's make two cents worth anyway,
qwerty. (by the way I am still in as well, for family reasons)
i just wanted share this with everyone.... ----------------------------------------------------------------------.
i was reading the other day about a man who thought he would indulge himself by going to the barber shop and have a haircut and shave.
the barber was a preacher and he had been called out so his wife grace said she would give him a haircut and shave in her husbands absence.

The barber was a preacher and he had been called out so his wife Grace said she would give him a haircut and shave in her husbands absence. He paid for the service and the next day looked in the mirror and saw he didn't need to shave that day. The same was true for the next 2, 3, 4, 5 days. No need to shave.
He went back to the barber and asked why he didn't need to shave. The barber (preacher) said, "You were shaved by Grace. Once shaved always shaved."
SORRY everyone! : @)

i found the terse, typed letter displayed above sitting on my microwave oven when i got home from work a few months ago.
it was addressed to me from my best friend and brother-in-law of many years.. a couple of days before we got into a discussion over "what was wrong with me.
" i had recently grown a goatee that he thought was extremely 'unchristian'.
