Essential Watchtower publications

i have a very nice jw friend who is willing to hand me some old copies of books / magazines that they are throwing out.
he comes with a long background of the cult so he has many years of literature (50 years possibly).. which are the essential books / magazines i should try to get off him to help me in my evangelism to the witnesses?.

In Bethel there was a secret banned list of movies music and video games. They would search your room while you were at work and if they found them, you could be kicked out of bethel. I actually knew guys who got kicked out for playing Halo. I knew another guy who got kicked out for seeing the Matrix. Sheesh.

I was a born in. I was always questioning things from the time I was 13. I still grew up and pioneered and went to bethel because it was what was expected of me and I at that time did not have a strong sense of self. When I finally stopped living to make others happy and for myself, things got better. I am still trying to sort out my religious beliefs, but they are not the focus of my life. I am going to be a decent person whether there is a god or not.

Poztate: I always cracked up when they mention how much a DVD costs at a store. That price includes paying Eddie Murphy and Antonio Banderas and Mike Myers millions for their voices! They are using free slave labor to make this DVD.
Last I checked, you could get a spindle of blank DVD's and it works out to less than 20 cents each, by a cover for maybe 50 cents and your done. All they had to buy is a computer to animate this stuff.

People assumed because I was single I would need a roomate at the convention! Eff that, I have a job and I want my privacy. Many days after the convention I needed to drink drink drink to rebalance my brain from the training, and I didn't need some old single brother I don't even know rooming with me and taking turns reading the new releases outloud to each other.

I hated being accounts servant. They expect you to be early and stay late for every meeting. They had so many little rules and wanted you to do it their way which made no sense. I got into almost a war with an elder in the congregation that came after us over the fact that I left our boxes unlocked and open (so that no one would put money in the box after I collected for the night). And this brother I don't even know is calling me at home and telling me, "from now on we are doing it this way". I told him to get lost so this petty brother made stickers and put them in the boxes "RE-LOCK WHEN DONE" and I ripped his stickers off. Then when our congregations merged he forcefully took over the job. "GOOD RIDDANCE!"
I started putting insane amounts of change in the box so it would take him all night to count it. Then he tried to get the elders to council me about that. I told them I was a broke bethelite and felt that he was diminishing my "two coins of small value" and that it was all I had. Of course, I was actually making trips to the bank to get rolled coins and breaking them open to waste his time. Call me petty, but I hated that asshole.

Yea NC, I think we are all a little F@#$ed up from being J-dubs. I went to nearly every meeting an never missed service until I was 25. Pio-sneer, MS and Bethel Slave all included. My wake up moment was when they kicked me out of Bethel for stupid shit after all my years of service and wanted to encourage me to start "reaching out" again right away. I told them not to hold their breath, been there done that, and I didn't care if I ever got appointed again, that having a job in the congregation didn't make me feel magically closer to Jehovah. They realized that if I didn't care about privledges that they had no hold over me and quickly lost intrest in me and so my fade began.
When I was gone long enough, I discovered weed, sex and real friends and now when JW's ask me how I'm doing (with that pitiful look cause they are expecting me to say I'm sad, lonely and depressed) I tell them that I am doing better than ever and I am happier with my whole life then I have ever been before. The ones who were my real friends are happy for me, and even seem jealous, the others are mad and assume I am doing all sorts of "unchristian" things.

If anyone wants to see the singing clip, roll your mouse over the video and in the top right "More info" and an arrow will come up. click it and the click on the name Melvin63954 and it will take you to his youtube channel and the top choice is currently the singing part. I don't know about the GB talking to kids part, I haven't found it yet.
