from shunning to crazy elder bodies to guilt trips, there are many things that were really bad.
this thread is devoted to the small, insignificant things that just really really irked you.

Why does the WT care if a sister is over 40?

in the above thread, the special pioneer slip asks if a sister is over 40. i had never seen anything like this, and wondered if anyone knew why.. nc.

They have a slightly lower hour requirement once sisters hit 40 and brothers hit 60. Nothing sinister on this one.

They are glad to see Watchtower leave town huh. Thousands of people living there taking up space doing very little to aid the local economy and not paying their share in taxes. Good Riddance!

These are all merely baseless implications that are thrown at Caleb by his mother, to which he eventually yields. The over-riding tone of this particular short story is “don’t ask, just obey”. This is precisely what the Society has always asked us to do in their publications, especially by means of spurious teachings such as “increasing light” and “waiting on Jehovah”. However, it is one thing to suppress the critical thinking skills of adults, but it strikes me as wholly wrong and frankly immoral to inflict such backwards ideology on young and impressionable minds from infancy. Such thinking sets children up for the worst possible start in life, and robs them of valuable cognitive tools

New DVD "Become Jehovah's Friend"

it's been a long while since i've posted (i am completely out - wife and kids still in) but thought you might this interesting.. they came home from the district convention yesterday with the new dvd intended for kids.
they popped it in right away and this is what happens:.

I finally figured out why this lady is so creepy to me. She reminds me of a young mother in my old hall. The were ex-bethelites and had a few young kids. The mother always spoke in an upbeat childish way even when it was a serious matter, and she oversimplified things, much like the mother in this story. I recently learned that they took their two toddlers and moved to a third world country to preach. Poor kids.
