Hey everyone lets not scare OP off. No one has heard his story yet. Most of us at some point, especially before we learned the WT dirty secrets probably struggled with the idea of if we should leave or if we should come back. OP, can you give us a little background please?

by Greybeard inimagine a creator who created billions of earth like planets in a huge experiment lasting billions of years.
what form of goverment would win in the long run?
would good or evil prevail in the end?

Is this with or without interference from said creator?

Because they follow 7 men and not Christ.
Matthew 25:41-46
New International Version (NIV)
41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fireprepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’
44 “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’
45 “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’
46 “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life. ”

Hi Jake, welcome. Glad that your are perhaps open-minded to do some research. You mentioned that "the world is too messed up to take a chance." Can you think of a different time in history that would be better to live in though? I will take the problems of this century over any other personally.

23,000 cases of child abuse
by tootired2care inthe letter from the hacking group anonymous asserts that there is a list of some 23,000 who are associated with jehovah's witnesses, that have been accused of abusing children.
several threads on this board also seem to say the number is in that vicinity too.
i searched around a bit but didn't really find how that number was derived.. does anyone have any insight or references to how this number 23,000 was arrived at?

Bethel: Pathway to Apostasy
by Black Man inat the 'big house' you go either one of two ways, company man or apostate.
i think for many that went, it demystified the whole organization and you saw firsthand that there wasn't holy spirit influencing anything - only the muses of sheltered, out-of-touch old men and political bureaucrats.
i work in the corporate world and i saw just as much if not more politics in bethel.

This thread brings back memories. I enjoyed parts of my time at bethel, but I can 100% say it resulted in my "apostacy". It is so far from the paradise they paint it to be. I remember several bethel talks the specifically told not to air the bethel families dirty laundry. Makes me shudder to recal the overbearing control. They regulated EVERYTHING. Many witnesses asked me if I would ever go back to bethel and my very quick NO may have stumbled some.

What parts of the Reasoning book would be considered "old light"
by puffthedragon inold light, dim light, apostacy, whatever you want to call it.
i recently had a jw try to "talk some sense into me" using the reasoning book.
i basically blew them off, but i started thinking about it, i don't have one handy, but i think it came out in the 80's.

So I know the generation thing has changed several times since then, what else in it is outdated? Anyone keeping a running tab?
Thanks in advance.

Have You Ever Spoken To An Elder About Your True Feelings About "The Truth"?
by minimus ini've has conversations with certain elder friends but i never gave them a total pummeling, at least i haven't yet.. what about you?.

I told an elder that the whole generation thing was ridiculous and that It clearly had no modern day meaning. His answer blew me away. "I agree with you." but then of course he said "but I'm waiting on Jehovah to fix it". Almost got my hopes up, fair enough.
