I love the expressions "fleshy parts" and "fleshly brother." They're so Watchtoweresque!

3-15-06 WT "Keep Clear of False Worship!"
by Bonnie_Clyde inthe whole article condemns all other religions in no uncertain terms--using such terms as "a drunken prostitute", "prostituted herself by forming alliances with one political power after another.
" paragraph 9: "that jehovah hates false worship is clearly seen from what happens to babylon the great.
revelation 17:16 states: 'the ten horns...will hate the harlot and will make her devastated and naked, and will eat up her fleshy parts and will completely burn her with fire.

One thing that I have learned over the years since I left the dubs is that most people know virtually nothing about the dubs and could not care less about their religion. The main audience for this film will be dubs just as the main audience for the Marley Cole book was dubs. Dubs will get all excited and blather back and forth to each other about what a wonderful witness this film will give. Or on the other hand if anything remotely critical is included, the dubs will get all excited and blather back and forth to each other that this is all the work of the evil "apostates." Face it, given the current state of dub theology, there is no way this film will be able to make these people look normal.

Leaving without the internet.
by unique1 inmy husband mentioned to me this morning that he was glad i had this resource and some support to help me through this.
he also made the comment: can you imagine trying to leave without the internet?
that got me thinking, it is hard now, how much harder was it back then, before the internet.

I started my fade in 1980 in the pre-internet days. I moved away from the area where I was a witness to go to college in 1981. The experience of going to school as well as the publication of Crisis of Conscience in 1982 helped me a great deal. Also two friends (one a former Bethelite) were invaluable. Back in those days I wasn't shunned by my dub family. That didn't start until 1999 which is what caused me to go on the internet. The biggest difference from then to today is the fact that knowledge of WT falsehood is more widespread thanks to the internet. Back then it took a few years before I was 100% comfortable with the idea that the JW's were totally wrong. I had for awhile a small fear in the back of my mind that maybe, just maybe "Armageddon" would come and I would be slaughtered. No such fear anymore.

Circuit Overseer Celebrities?
by Delboy222 ini am a active jw, but one question i would like to know is why do these 'men' get treated as superstar celebrities when they attend the congregation?.
for as long as i can remember, there seems to be a 'buzz of excitement' when it is announced that he and his wife are due to visit.
what is so special about them?.

Dave, You mentioned a CO named Gary Carey. I had a guy by that name in my congregation in California 25 years ago. I wonder if it is the same guy as I could have seen him go on to CO. Was the CO's wife named Peggy?

VM44, Interesting comparison to Father Coughlin. I've read a biography of Coughlin and thought that he and Rutherford had much in common: hatred of big business and big government. It seems to me that men like these two were creatures of their time. In the aftermath of The Great War there were strong socialist movements in many countries including the USA. Just as Rutherford was jailed during the war so was the great socialist leader Eugene Debs. I think that Rutherford was an amalgamation of men like Debs, Coughlin and William Jennings Bryan (supposedly in his pre-WT days Rutherford was a supporter of Bryan). Why do most people remember Debs and Coughlin and forget Rutherford? Good question. I think a solid biography of Rutherford would garner some interest. But this would be very hard to write without WT cooperation which of course would be non-existent. Bob
