the july 15 study watchtower uses all 4 study articles to try to inculcate into every witnesses' mind that the governing body is indisputably god's sole channel of communication on earth.
to do so, it uses a multitude of scriptures along with seriously flawed un-inspired reasoning.
the foundation stone of this watchtower's blatant agenda is the claim that when jesus used only a few to dispense the physical food to the many, he was setting a principle which would be applied to the distribution of spiritual food after he returned to heaven.
Searcher, That is an interesting take that I had not considered before. I think the answer to who Jesus would leave in charge is quite simple. I am sure you have seen the scripture. In his own words at John 14:26- But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.
When I shared this scripture with my JW parents in an effort to help them realize that they do not need the "FDS" and that Jesus was clear who was in charge. They simply said they "do not believe that", I said "I was reading a scripture from Jesus own words", still "we don't believe that".
Of course, they insist on the having their FDS security blanket...ugh!
I am slightly tempted to email my JW father and say something like "I guess you were wrong by referring to the Evil Slave (100 plus time-no exageration) being responsible for taking me out of the org because now that the FDS realized that they could be attached to the reference of the Evil Slave it dissapears. Amazing how that works!

he keeps predicting the end of the world and has gathered some zealous followers around the world.
he lives on a large property bought for him by his disciples.
I saw that a while back. I still remember how creepy that was. A perfect illustration of cult control. Yikes! People were leaving there family's to follow him. During their gatherings people would take on the personalities of bible characters and reinact with whaling and other insane behaviors. They almost seemed demon possesed. Yuck!

i just can't live in the past anymore.
so sick of the drama, spying and having to pretend to be something i am not.
I really appreciate everyones inpute. I decided to not start over a new FB account for these conditional and possibly toxic friendships that will likely unfriend me anyway.
Honeybucket, I wondered if that would happen to me too. There is a part of me that is just trying to beat them to the punch. Word is getting around from where we used to live as JW's. I just unfriended a girl/women in my wedding because I did not want her going up to my parents and possibly rub their nose in it at the next assembly, not that they don't sort of deserve it...hee! They asked that my husband and I go away quitely and my father is the one who started telling people we were apostate behind my back...long story. A few JW's from our old circuit are likely going to give my family the inquisition at the next assembly. I had some JW FB spys that questioned my activity and unfriended me. My oh my!
I know I will look back at this and not care. Thats why clearing these peeps out feels great, moving on!

It may sound harsh but I am finding it therapeutic to unfriend my JW friends today on facebook. I just can't live in the past anymore. So sick of the drama, spying and having to pretend to be something I am not. I am debating keeping some including my brother so they can see that I am happy after leaving and that there is hope once you are on the outside. I will likely get unfriended based on my activity but is it worth the risks/drama? Has anyone else had to make this difficult decision. It might be the only way I can have contact with a few of the people I care about that are still in.

it was so easy i should have done it long ago....i went to www.abc.com, filled in the search bar with "20/20" and then clicked on 'email us'.
my request was simple "please do an expose' on j.w.
's and how they hide and protect pedophiles and then require those same pedophiles to go into public neighborhoods....putting them in contact with innocents, while not even being known amongst their own congregation members for the vile persons they are".. if enough of us make similar requests.....maybe,just maybe, we'll get our request.
Thank you for giving a damn. It is nice to see concerned individuals get creative and put in the effort to do something!
