They fit the criteria. Only for this reason, this would be a very destructive cult.
Of course there are many other reasons also.
in doing some research a few years back, i came across the use of "breaking session" as something used to control cult members by leadership.
initially, i dismissed this a something smaller, more extreme cults use - and dismissed it as a technique used by the jw org.
here are a few descriptions of the process from http://changingminds.org/techniques/conversion/breaking_sessions.htm.

I am very happy to know that they loved me so much, shame it didn’t transpire during the years that I was in.
my italian friend loves going to the "feasts" that occur in italy, boston or nyc.
these feasts feature a "saint" with dollar bills pinned around her and they parade the saint in a long procession and chant "viva (whomever)".
they are quite serious about this and are proud to talk about the past generations of observers who appreciated the events.
The big difference is that the Catholic Church doesn’t control you or your life, as the WT does.
i hate my situation.
a very close relative is remarried to a man who before becoming a jw was a shady character.
he has said if he wasn't a jw, he'd have guns and stuff, always worried about things.
I mean the truth about the organization they are serving and financing. That does not negate their faith in God and the Bible, for which there are many interpretations.
i've been reading around this subject of late and it seems to make a lot of sense.
i'm wondering if anyone is convinced and/or has seen anything that can substantiate or corroborate the 'facts' set out in these arguments.. http://www.bibliotecapleyades.net/bloodlines/russell.htm.

hi guys & gals!.
the watchtower society have once again ignored the tent makers wise words to not go beyond what is written in the bible.. how many times has the watchtower society gone beyond what is written in the bible?.
http://www.jehovahswitnessblog.com/bible/do-not-go-beyond-the-things-that-are-written/.
The only thing written by God directly are the 10 Commandments. Everything else was written by men. I personally believe they were inspired, but the rest of the Bible is an adition to this code of conduct that are the Commandments, and that Jesus resumed in two: love God with your whole heart, soul, and mind and your neighbour as yourself.
I don’t think there can be any superior law to that.

Rutherford was clearly anticlerical and with a very strong political agenda. The way he seized the WT after Russel’s death was fitting of a gangster.

This country has been disfellowshipped from the world for the last 30 years, and nobody is allowed to listen or make business with them, still they managed to achieve quite a prosperous and developed country.
As muslim countries go, they are far less fanatic than others, so much so that they have Christian and Jewish communities totally integrated in their society.
Bombing them is a crime.
