MC - He did indeed write The Plank - back in the 60's I believe. Most remembered for the sitcom with Hattie Jacques and was also in one of the Harry Potter films amongst many many other films/tv programmes. Very sad - definitely one of the greats. RIP

Eric Sykes has died, one of the unrecognised comedy greats.
by Phizzy inthis thread is for those on the uk side of the pond, i guess our friends in the u.s would not have been exposed to the comedy genius of eric.. i say "unrecognised" in the thread title with recognition that many many people here in the u.k had great affection for eric and did appreciate his prodigious talent, but i still feel it would have been good if he had received even more in the of the way of approbation and appreciation in his lifetime.. r.i.p eric, you were one of a kind..

Not divulging my source but at a certain convention recently they got charged a fair wack for car parking and the fuss that was made!! They could not believe they had to pay when they bring so much business into the community, no one had to pay to attend etc etc. Talk about p*ssed off!! Had to laugh. Bet the plugs for the credit card donations went sky high!!

Usually, one of the parties will dig in and refuse to commit adultery, forcing the other to do adultery instead (and then refuse to divorce
The "bf" got married young, practically arranged marriage, then went pioneering abroad, took job as window washer then she allegedly had an affair but he forgave her, or in his words not forgiven but had to keep up appearances. Says they hardly speak now and live totally separate lives, even houses but have to go to kh together and dc's to avoid anyone making comments (to protect her!). This all found out recently (some believe, rest I reckon is totally load of bs) and makes me feel even more of an idiot to believe what he said! All sounds very steriotypical looking back and reading comment above from wt wizard.

Guide to leaving the Organization

by upliftingmofo .
if you are reading this, no doubt you've had reason to consider making a permanent break from the jehovah's witness religion.

May not be in the "bf" life any more but going to send this to him. He will probably take no notice but if there is only a 1% chance then feel worth it. If he was being truthful about leaving them think this says it all. Thanks.

Religion has to be a choice within a family environment alone
by smiddy inwhat do you think ,would this not eradicate many of the religous controversties in the world if something like this was not only proposed but enforced ,say by the un ?
it would not be easy of course and it would take some time in implementing it,but i feel the time has come for a change to eradicate religous intolerance.. religion is a personal choice ,keep it that way , it should not be used to divide people, and it is used that way in many religions, albeit many cult religions.
cult religions should not be aloud to flourish in society ,and they do so in the guise of freedom of religion , to the detriment of countless of lives, lives that are shattered and destroyed in the name of religous freedom.

Religion is very much a personal choice or it should be. I am not and never been even though I had relatives/friends who are/have been jw, born again, christians, muslims to name a few and some evenings the discussion does turn to religion and how they feel it has affected their upbringing, life etc. I have always had an open mind and ask questions but one thing that always comes up is if your parents/grandparents were brought up in a certain faith then you can sometimes feel pressured into that religion. The "bf" was born in and knows nothing else and so was all his family and no doubt there will be another generation knowing little else. I firmly believe in freedom of choice and this is where I find it so sad that choices are taken away from you even at an early age to "follow the crowd". I have also learnt loads from this forum to which i shall always be grateful. I have made my choice with my religion or lack of it and know the "bf" will almost certainly never leave but maybe having a few months of tasting freedom and seeing that there is a whole world out here which is not all evil maybe just maybe he will see the light. I can hope but feel for us it will be too late. That is what I find so sad that his choices are taken away.

Things that were supposedly demonized
by freshstart ini was just thinking about all the fear i had when i was a kid that i would be attacked by demons if i wasn't careful.
i mean i lived in absolute terror over it, so i'm going to reminisce about the things i was told were demonized and you can add to the list if you'd like:.
lucky charms cerealcount dracula cerealitems bought at garage sales where there was a cross or anything religious present"hotel california" by the eagles (now one of my favorite songs)wwjd braceletsscooby dooi remember being so scared of every little noise that whenever i would turn off my light to go to bed, i would say "jehovah, jehovah!

UK child abuse lawyer contact details (keep bumping this thread)
by cedars ini've already received enquiries from those interested in hiring a lawyer to pursue their own child abuse claims in the wake of the candace conti verdict.
obviously, rick simons has excelled in his handling of the case, but i'm sure it wouldn't be practical for him to represent each-and-every potential client who are victims of child abuse.
i am thinking particularly of victims of molesters in the uk, where i am from.. i have no legal experience, and i am not personally acquianted with any lawyers specializing in this field.
