Headed to vegas! Anything i should do?

the tittle is self explanitory.... first trip to vegas, anything i should do besides gamble?.

as if anymore proof were needed that what used to be the religion i was baptized into has ceased to exist i was asked this insane question, when i mentioned to a jdub that someone i knew was celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.

are they witnesses?".

i didn't used to really think about that insane question in the past, but now that i have woke up to ttatt it is glaringly obvious that they think there can be no chance of actually knowing and getting along with anyone outside their tiny circle of conditional friends.

the classic way to speak about ones we know (friends) who are not witnesses is to say "an aquaintance I know" rather than "a good friend of mine"

When I was in my early twens I had an assignment at the meeting. As a setting i had put that i was witnessing to a schoolfriend

Later on i was counscelled from the platform on how others from school are not supposed to be our "friends"

This cult is just awful

We have a few professional writers in this forum and you can tell what they are - merely by reading the first couple of sentences of their posts.

Your story is written in average english grammar and spelling.. peppered with school boy level obscene words.

I wish you luck and all the best. Obviously you've got your own background story and experiences, possibly painful ones related to the jw cult. What about sharing some more authrntic experiences? People appreciate snd like honesty

Interracial Relationships and JWs

i've noticed that within the past couple of decades, i don't see a lot of interracial relationships (ir, for short) in the org.. i, myself, was involved in an ir over 2-3 decades ago and was engaged to get married [my ethnicity is: african-american and latina; my ex-fiance's ethnicity is: scottish and italian].

he broke off the engagement, after three years of friendship and two years of dating, because his uncle and another brother (who was a temporary volunteer at bethel) pressured him to end our relationship [p.s.

: his mother was quite close to my mother, one of my sisters and one of my close cousins.

It was back then when pokemon first became popular. It must have been around 15 years ago or so...

For sure the internet won't be around any longer. Lots of young witlesses don't learn to do research and reading in libraries/books but only by clicks.

No electric power systems... no servers... satellites.. advanced hardware technology.. and the list goes on

OMG, My 18 Nephews & Nieces Are Such Creative Double Life JWs

to briefly state this: we were hardcore jws, my siblings, my wife and her two sisters.

we have 18 nieces and nephews among us from late 20's to 55. only one is a card-carrying, practicing jw and he's had his problems.. what's hilarious, is that most of the 18 in the next generation would still identify themselves as jws to the rest of the family, but all are leading double lives extraordinaire, doing exactly what they want to do.

most would be honest with me and have been.

Many of us have a lot of reasons to be fake. Not everyone has reached that point where they feel totally free to break free from this cult as you may have by now. They are in big turmoil and the least they need is to be judged from others

two years ago i had a kundalini experience.

i felt energy or chi pulsate through each of my chakras, from the base of the spine to the crown of the head, then back, after that i felt like a newborn for three days.

i felt like i was reborn spiritually and god gave me a new name - indi.

Need Suggestions/examples: Guide to helping family & friends break free

i was going through my copy of steve hassan's combating cult mind control and it occurred to me that it would be great to have something like this specifically for us ex jehovah's witnesses.

while this is a great book, the examples he uses are mostly from people that were moonies, as steve is a former moonie and many people that have contacted him for help were relatives of moonies.

while cults all work basically the same, it would be nice to be have some ideas on things that are specific to jehovah's witnesses.

For those still in physically they may sensibly bring up something as a point a study/an interested person mentioned that you didn't know how to answer (without being too obviously "apostate (tm)" ideas) like "so and so asked about .... and as I have never heard of this I didn't know whst to respond.
