  Kingdom Hall Insurance

  that the wt "self insures" kingdom halls has come up in occasional conversations on here.

  how exactly does that work?

  do they* actually set aside a portion of the monthly remittance from each kingdom hall and save into a pool to cover damage etc.

  The branch basically owns all the Kingdom Halls now so they would look after their property.

  That being said if the local Kingdom Hall that you attend burns to the ground you will be guilted into donating and providing free labour to rebuild the Kingdom Hall that your congregation bought and paid for and was expropriated by the branch.

  That’s how con artists operate. They are not satisfied in taking from you once, they want to take again, again and again.

  When the congregation held title to the Kingdom Hall the branch would charge a couple hundred bucks a month for “insurance” but it was basically another income stream for them.

  If the Kingdom Hall suffered a loss they would guilt free labour and money from the minions to rebuild the hall.

  Who Was The Biggest Jackass Circuit Overseer You Ever Met?

  there was on older white-haired circuit overseer in houston around 1989 or 1990. last name started with a w i think.... not sure though.

  even the most brain-dead robotic elders told me he was offensive.

  All of them can be condescending and/or downright abusive depending on a lot of factors. I’ve found out if you have money they treat you better.

  The very first time they visit your congregation determines how they will treat you for the next 3 years.

  Their opinion of you will be formed based on the opinion of the elders and their wives, usually the host family.

  Some notable asshole circuit overseers(Canada)

  Terry Attick. Snivelling small man with a napoleon complex. Just a manipulator plain and simple. Gets angry when he can’t have his way.

  Larry Erickson. I never had much trouble with him but he was very abusive to my Father and other brothers in the hall. He is a coward that uses triangulation and flying monkeys to do his dirty work for him. He doesn’t like brothers who work shift work. He is well connected at the Canada Branch through his wife’s family. He has the reputation of removing more elders than he approved for appointments.

  How far has Watchtower and the GB of Jehovah's Witnesses gone to stalk and silence critics?

  we have all watched some of the documentaries about the church of scientology hiring detectives to stalk and harass their former members,( their "apostates").

  i have heard of individual cases of rabid jw elders stalking ex-jws, and of course, one would expect some enforcement of corporate copyright infringement on anti-jw websites.. what were the most outrageous jw "stalking" or investigation stories you remember?.

  tonight's 60 minutes into ebay stalking a middle-aged couple who writes a newsletter reminded me a lot of the menlo park congregation watchtower "takeover", closure, and stalking of local elders to mind.

  I know of a 30 year old brother that married a 16 year old from our congregation. They were dating when she was 15. No one batted an eye.

  The dating pool is shallow in the jws. There is not very much selection so they don’t have a lot of choice.

  There was also a 55 year old guy that married a 25 year old sister. Brothers marrying women 20 years older than them.

  What most Jehovah’s witnesses don’t realize about their version of the new system is who’s gonna mow the grass?

  After the system is destroyed who’s gonna make that nail your pounding with a hammer? Who’s gonna fix the roof every 30 years? Who’s gonna make that fancy glass wear and the fine clothes you’re wearing?

  All of the people that you relied on for your cushy lifestyle are gone. Dead.

  Did becoming a JW influence you to give up something you enjoyed ?

  when i was a teenager a younger fellow workmate was involved in the sport of judo.i got interested and went along to a number of sessions and took to it like a sponge to water ,and as a sport i was happy participating in.. not that much longer another workmate was getting re-activated in the religion of jw`s.

  which i had never heard o before and then got interested in that .. conflict : was judo a sport that was compatible with j.w beliefs?

  sadly i decided it was not and stopped any further involvement.. to this day i resent that decision i made back then .and i`m 82 years old now.. it was a sport i was comfortable doing and i enjoyed it.and i gave it up because of the religion .who knows what i may have achieved had i continued with it.

  Watchtower are leeches on society. The gall to try and manipulate the same government they condemn to death into giving them money. Somebody worked for that money to pay the taxes so that watchtower can expropriate it.

  Is the watchtower getting into daycares? Early childhood education?

  a lot of my ex fellow servants must be now in their seventies, what can you do?.

  no children no money no home.

  it is so sad.. so many decided not to have children as the end was right around the corner and that was decades ago.

  During COVID my wife and I had a monetary gift we wanted to give to needy members of the congregation. We had asked our group overseer to take the gift and distribute it anonymously as we didn’t know who was in need and we didn’t want the recognition.

  All he did was give us the phone number of a family in the congregation and said give it to them yourself.

  We ended up giving it to the local food bank. I guess the publishers can go there if they are hungry.
