Two men holding hands is common in India as well.
It makes me hate how homophobic Americans can be.
witnesses got me out of bed this morning.
i was too sleepy to say anything and the guy was very nice and friendly, so i just took the magazines and smiled.. a couple of absolutely awesome graphics from the awake:.
thanks to the writing department for brightening my afternoon.

doesn't it just irritate you to the highest degree when someone makes a remark as stupid as this?
since when did "jehovah's education" ever taught you anything significant other than to be a tool and a slave for the wtb$?.
I'm almost done with my engineering degree and I was offered to complete my education at the New York Bethel instead of my current educational institution (before I discovered this site).
I was never on the right page with the society when it comes to education, so I answered that I'll think about it, but I had already rejected it in my mind. There's no reason for me to think that it wasn't some sort of trick.
at the moment i don't have the wt cd program up, but when i can bring it up, i'll post some.. .
also, articles which include a paragraph here or there that are directed towards children or teens count as well.. articles that come to mind for me first are all the articles dealing with (gasp) masturbation.
and one poster here recently posted some parts from a young people ask article about dating, which was very funny.
I love how this whole thread is technically staying on topic and yet is focusing completely on masturbation.
I also had major problems with their masturbation articles...it's part of the reason I discovered this forum! I had problems with it because they have the nerve to say that it's not in the bible and yet make it into a bad thing anyway...just because they feel like it. I never agreed with it, and kept on with my habits.
NAMBO: for instance, it never mentioned if self-fellatio was a sin or not.
It would be pretty hilarious if they went through the trouble to try and categorize it. Nonetheless...I don't care what they think about it.
So basically they want JWs to go for blue collar jobs so that they have more time to provide their free labor to the WT. This is one thing that I never agreed with in my 7 years of being a JW, and thankfully my parents think the same way I do.
i have a new article at http://www.jwfacts.com/watchtower/birthdays.php outlining why the watchtower stance against birthdays is wrong.
there have been a number of threads on jwn discussing this, and the article collates and summarises the points raised in these threads.
please feel free to point out any errors in grammar or logic.
I love this post so much...it has everything I need to fight off anyone that might debate with me on this issue. But it hurts to think of all the good times I missed out on, and all the people I've wronged into thinking the way JWs do...
howdy guys & gals,.
do you remember the good old days on here when there were trolls aplenty?
it's such a shame those days are behind us.
Jehovah's Witnesses are indeed in denial. The problem though is that the WT promises so much hope, and they just dive head-first right into it. So to make them realize that it's all a lie...that would just crush them.
i've noticed when i exercise regularly i feel thin, regardless of my weight.
this led me to think about how behavior, thoughts and feelings are tied together.
so for those of you still in what activities or thoughts make you feel like a witness?
I'm pretty much just like Emery, which a few extras:
I have mixed feelings about birthdays. A lot of people use the birthday thing to get attention...it makes them look really self-centered. I wouldn't go around announcing it, but if someone wants to throw something together for me (small get-together, party, or something private), I would have no problem with it - I'd actually enjoy it, just like I used to.
I also have mixed feelings about some holidays like Christmas. I wouldn't go back to celebrating it (because I see it as a waste of time and money) but I would not mind accepting gifts.
As it stands right now, voting is merely a conscience issue according to the WTS (although many JWs don't know that). I've never been a registered voter (since I was too young before I was a JW), but I wouldn't mind voting. I live in the country, and the person elected will directly affect my life in the coming years, so I feel that I have a say.
I wouldn't grow my beard out, because I have curly, thick hair and to me it looks bad when it's long, and it's not the most comfortable feeling. But I'll definitely be more relaxed about it.
Concerts, maybe. I'm not really a wild crowd type of guy though.
i had to start this thread in light of today's watchtower study.
in paragraph 14,15 they mention the grounds for separation.
no scriptures are sighted but i am well aware of the support they usually use.. i am so sick of the watchtower making crap up!
What really bothered me was when the conductor said that one of the reasons to leave your mate is extreme physical abuse. I don't know about him (or anyone else), but if my wife (or my husband if I were female) were to lay a hand on me just once, I would leave him or her immediately. Married couples DON'T HIT EACH OTHER.
witnesses, we were arrogant in regards to knowing all.
the answers to life mysteries.. i have learn to listen.
i have learn to think before i. speak and not put my foot into my mouth.. it,s a humbling experience.
Reading this thread makes really sad...because it makes me think back to the era where my family became JWs. We were particularly close to some of our family members, but we lost all those ties, since we gave them the "choice" to either join us or not associate with us anymore. Many friends lost too, except for those that still contact us (true friends). It's embarassing for me, but I feel like going back to every single person that I myself was particularly close to and saying "I'M SORRY" and giving them a big hug and a gift.
Then the sadness turns into hatred for the cult that I've ended up in.
during the wt study yesterday, a sister made a comment that i have a hard time forgetting - something about "the society or jehovah approving of" something related to divorce.
it was always something that i've inferred based on the actions of most jws, but i never thought that some would say it blatantly..
The problem I have with this is that there will come a time when the GB instructs the minions to do something major that isn't found in the Bible (as they have done in the past), or is contrary to the Bible, although they will make it seem that it's not the case. When the Bible's viewpoint is clear on such a matter, who will JWs obey? Jehovah or the society?
1975 is a perfect example. The society knew very well what Matthew 24:36 says - 'no one knows the time or the date', but they went on to ramble about 1975. A year counts as a date, even though it's much broader. This is contrary to the Bible, and yet people followed the society's recommendations concerning that year.
