Max and Barb,
I just want to thank you both for sharing this information with all of us.I need a little time to digest it all before comment much, but that email you got Max,is just plain scary! It was one of the most hateful things I've seen so far. This is how they act when the not so pretty truth comes out! Thanks for sharing it because it exposes the way witnesses think.I'm ashamed to admit it but I remember a time when this could have been me.I know many others would agree if they could remember how it was being a witness ,field service is not an option.
I did not appreciate any one making it any more difficult than it already was.I don't think I would have gone as far as to email you but I bet I would have been praying that Jehovah bring quick justice, remember all those stories they told us about major opposers and persecuters being struck dead?I'm saying this because this person didn't come up with this thinking on ther own. They were trained this way. That should be both sad and alarming to every one here.

Food at Proper Time:Insider's Insight from Barbara
by Maximus inbarbara anderson's attention was called to the thread about the differences in policy of great britain and the us regarding child abuse; as you know she has championed a change in that policy.
another post caught her eye, and she expressed the desire to share some thoughts with you.
i'm delighted to share her first post, which i know you will find riveting.

This is exactly how my mom would be if she were ever Df'd.[8>]
"Mom Is there something you forgot to tell me?"This just sounds too familiar to me.I know how frustrating it is to try to communicate with someone like this.I wouldn't put up with it much longer if I were you.It makes a person very tired!
At least in this case you don't have to feel obligated to continue comunications, like I do with my mother.Sometimes after reading one of those letters I start wishing I was Df'd just so I could have peace.

Wife and Sister-in-law
by Undecided ini think my wife and her sister are finally seeing the truth about the churches they have been associated with.
i have been going with them to the church services and pointing out the inconsistences of the dogma that is preached.
i'm not trying to destroy their faith in god but sometimes my comments may seem that way.

I agree it is sad.
I understand what your saying about the Bible and God.It is hard to know what and how much to say to others about things like this. It's such a personal journey. For my own family and friends who are satisfied that the bible is inspired by God,and that Christianity is the answer,I am very careful not to shock them with to much too fast.It takes time but alittle here and there is better than them going into shut-down mode. But if the person has no interest or motivation in this journey for more knowlege ,I don't push.I can't do it for them and neither can you.
Have you read the book by Thomas Paine called AGE OF REASON?This book exposes glaring inconsistancies and other problems in the Bible.Great book!
Another good one is A HISTORY OF GOD by Karen Armstrong. It is so interesting. It gives a basic of the worlds religions from their beginings.Vere eye opening.
You can get these at bookstores or find them in the library.
hope this is of some help to you.

Am I the only chicken ....
by BobsGirl ini am having a really tough time with fear.
mine is one of the stories on bill bowen's silentlambs site.
i have survived more than 14 years of abuse, left the "borg", married a man that is amazingly supportive and not a jw, sought counseling and recovery, given birth to a newborn baby boy ...... every one of which has required courage and intestinal fortitude.

Possibility vs Probability of JW 'Action'
by VeniceIT inyesterday alanf posted an excellent parody of wt propoganda.
the thread was very interesting and a debate was underway as to whether he was way off base and just saying things out of hatred, or if there is some basis to think it's a possiblity, scary thought.. i have no intention of re-starting or starting a debate at this time (ok who am i and what have i don't to venice, jk hahhaha).
i simply would like to share my insights on the jw attitude toward apostates.. when i was a dedicated jw and had been asked that question by alan, 'would you kill apostates if the wts told you too?

Venice,
Thank you for posting this shocking but true life experience that gets right into the mind of the typical witness.
I used to be one who had this terrible thinking.I remember one small example. My husband and I were very close to his grandfather. He was such a good man but he never showed interest in becoming a witness. When he died, I remember us holding much of the grief at bay by saying that it was for the best because he would be resurected and have a chance at everlasting life instead if being destroyed at armagedon!
It hurts so, to be on the receiving end of this type of thinking ond more upsetting still to realize you used to be just like that.
We've come around so maybe more of our friends and family will too.I know you miss them very much.

BobsGirl,
Hello,and welcome to the board!
I know for a fact that you are not alone in feeling the way you do.It just feels that way because of the deafning silence, brought on by fear, guit, and intimidation used as weapons against victims ,not only from the perpitraters but also from those we looked to for security and help after the crimes.
My story comes no where near in magnitude as most of the stories I've heard so far, because it was only one time and it didn't go as far as so many others. That doesn't change the trama and damage that comes with loss of trust of someone who is there to take care of you!The fear and feeling like a chicken I definatly identify with!I'm not d'f'd or da'd but I'm not scared of that any more. The reason I'm telling you this is because I want you to know there's hope. You will get stronger. This board is a great place to start because you will find people at all differen't levels of healing.
Question, are you afraid of being df'd because of fear of loosing friends and family or is it fear of what God will think of you?
It may not be either but instead of just fealing the fear and anxiety it is often helpful to pinpoint exactly where its coming from.
As far as the law suits and such ,I just want you to know you will have support and you wont be out on a limb all by your self. That is when you feel strong enough.
Love,
