  well i hope this is the last chapter regarding the ritzville trial of manuel beliz.

  perhaps he now can become a statistic in the roles of sex offenders who go to jail for their crimes.

  as you may recall in the first hearing things were much different and intimidating to erica and her family.

  My JW Mothers' Words Of "Love"

  well, i just received a letter from my mom and i dont know how to describe my feelings at this time.

  i thought id share parts of it with you and see what yall think.

  i will delete names and add my own words in parenthesis to describe whom shes talking about.. after a few lines of small talk she says this..........i do want to tell you, since (you and your husband) have rejected the truth, i am so glad (your son) is not old enough to join or be drafted into the military.

  Wow!
  Before I quit reading the magazines I noticed the huge change in their tone when speaking of the UN.
  I couldn't believe what I was reading at the time after all those years of saying horrible things about them.
  There's a reason they are buttering up to the UN now and I bet the answer will ultimatly be MONEY, even if it doesn't come directly from the UN.
  Please keep us updated on this.

  Repent!... and avoid being disfellowshipped

  an elder once told me that sitting in on judicial committees was tough, "because you have determine if they're really repentant.

  they'll cry crocodile tears, and say how sorry they are, but you can't always believe them.".

  it seems to me that a) if they came forward with their "sin" in the first place, that's pretty substantial proof of repentance; b) if they can summon up "crocodile tears" when not truly sorry, then they deserve to stay in--as a reward for superior acting talent, if for no other reason; and c) if they've sinned, even if not obviously repentant, they shouldn't scripturally be kicked out, if they're not trying to subvert the masses--they should be helped.. what brings this to mind is the recent court case with which silentlambs has been involved.

  Yes, I was also disgusted that he wanted to appeal.He's had two trials already.What a waste of time and money this would be!

  I agree that it is important to break this pattern in our families.
  When I was a witness I was much tammer than mom but I did make mistakes because of my upbringing.I recognized some of it then but even more so now that I'm out.
  It's so much easier bo behave in a loving way now that I'm free.
  You can't help but be hurtful to others when your driven by guilt and fear.Ranchette

  Everyone,
  Some of you have suggested that I no longer accept these letters from mom.
  I have considered that.If I ever feel this is a threat to my emotional well being I will.
  Remember I was raised by this woman. She used to have great power over me emotionally.I'm not saying that her words don't hurt me at all but they do not rip me up like they used to.Usually this is how it goes now,I read the letter I'm usually shocked at what she says,although by now I don't know why it still shocks me.It hurts some but mostly they frustrate me because I don't know how to help her.Then I usually start seeing the funny side of it.Like in this case,she lives in the middle ov nowhere UPS won't even go out to her house.Could you imagine me trying to give the Gov. directions to her place? Besides they would release her imeadiatly because shes so difficult!
  Anyway I think her letters can be helpful to others. They so perfectly show the JW mind set in action.
  If I ignore this bad behavior and just let her know I love her,acting like I should I think it will be confusing to her.After trying this for awhile if I don't like the results I'll do something else.

  What's Your Political Affiliation?

  as long as i can remember even though we didn't vote as jw's i've always philosophically vascillated between being either a closet democrat or independent.

  i still don't vote, but when things come up in the media, i find i do have some pretty straight-forward opinions on various items.

  what parties views in your country do you seem to vibe with and why?

  I registered as a Democrat even though I consider myself an Independent.
  I didn't want to be limited on my voting ,which happens if you register as an Ind.
  Also I really don't believe in the party concept any way. Politics should not be handled like joining a club!
  We should vote for the best person for the job and not based on their little club,in my oppinion.

  Emergency !!!! Can Any One Help?

  this plea for help goes out to anyone in the st louis mo area.. okay this is the situation, my father and sister are both disfellowshipped and have been sharing an apt.

  since my mom and dad have been separated.. my dad was being kind to my sister who was in need after her divorce.. she was the typical jw just, high school education then depending on a man.

  dad agreed to let her live rent free till jan when she graduates from dental school.

  I know others have this stuff happen too though.

  Everyone,
  I just spoke to her on the phone.She said that a girl she works with and her husband have offered to let her stay with them.They have a small place with a couple of very small children.She'll have to study somewhere else.
  It's not an ideal situation but" beggers can't be choosers." I just don't want her out on the street.
  I hope they don't back out.
