Karate
by Ranchette inthis year i have learned so much and what i keep being taught repeatedly through experience this time instead of what someone tells me, is that much of what the society taught us about the world and many of the things in it is pure nonsence!.
i'm just giving one example for now even though there are many.. my son who is in elementary school has over a period of time expressed a desire to do something extracurricular.. oh the shame!!!.
now out of all the different things out there we chose karate.. jws frown on this because its a form of self defence, a competitive sport and they have labeled it and all martial arts in fact as demonized.. he is learning shotokan karate.he loves it and not one demon or demonized thing has happened so far and never will.. in fact i like what they are teaching my son.. this saying is on the wall of the school or dojo,.

It also teaches self confidence which the Society frowns upon.Wouldn't want to think too much of oneself would we?
Self control-Jws should like this one.
Respect for self and othersThe Dojo precepts are as follows,
Ophold the principles of propriety and courtesy.
Cultivate a spirit of effort.
Perfect a mind of patience.
Live the way of truth.
Do not loose self control or act in a violent manner.I told my husband that it was great to teach good values and principles to my son in a fun way instead of all those meetings.
Any one else doing Martial Arts?
Our JW families and friends would freak if they knew about this!

I was scared of apostates.....
by terafera inthe only experience i've had with 'apostates' was when i was 7 years old.
i was visiting family across the states and we went to a district assembly.
i remember a group of people outside with signs and billboards.

Yes,I was very afraid of them for several reasons.
Like what the organization taught about them,
how my mother would overreact out in service when someone would try to give us apostate literature
and also experiences kinda like the one LB described sure didn't help either.
I thought they were demon possessed!
When ex Jws let their emotions take over they reinforce these fears.Ranchette

I guess what I was thinking is if you want to go and you can do it without feeling abused or mistreated in some way by others then go for it if it's what you want.
But many of us can't even think of entering a KH without emotional trama even if we had company.
It is a relief to me to know it is not required that I be at a KH during the Memorial.
I'm sorry if what I'm saying is not what your looking for.Well at least I didn't hurt you.

I have a question for you.
Do you really think Jesus expects you to be at a Kingdomhall for the memorial of his death?
In my opinion as worthless as it may be to you, I don't believe he would expect you to be at any certain place at a certain time to show respect for him and what he did.

i was at my grandmother's yesterday and stumbled upon a diary with www.circuitleasing.com on her kitchen table.. seems like the society has their own leasing company now, selling co's cars and they regularly send my gran the information on how to buy since she bought one about 8 years ago from brooklyn.
they are plying her with calendars and key chains this year.. anyway, check the site out and make sure you register for your free keychain too while supplies last.. let me know what you think.. diana
