hi guys.
been gone a few days and i'm glad to be back.
i missed you all.
Larc,
Your list is a bit harder, but I'll try ...
1. Where did Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper, and Ritchi Valens die?
Iowa (or had they entered Kansas by the time the plane hit?)
2. Who sang the following "A wop, bop, a lew bop, a wop, bam, boom."?
Little Richard
3. What was the name of the song in #2?
Tutti Frutti
3. Who sang "Blue Suede Shoes" before Elvis.
Can't recall. Pretty sure it wasn't Ernest Tubb. Carl Perkins, maybe?
4. Who is Jimmy Swargart's famous rock and roll cousin singer.
Jerry Lee Lewis?
5. Which singer married his 12 year old cousin.
Definitely Jerry Lee Lewis
6. Who is credited with coming up with the term, "rock and roll"?
Hmmm, Dick Clark? (nah) A DJ in Philadelphia?
7. What song is considered to be the first rock and roll song?
Rock Around the Clock (from the movie "The Blackboard Jungle"), performed by Bill Haley and the Comets (yeah, baby, a One, Two, Three O'Clock Rock. Four, Five, Six O'Clock Rock. Seven, Eight, Nine O'Clock Rock. Ten, Eleven, Twelve O'Clock Rock. We're gonna rock, we're gonna rock, we're gonna rock around the clock...tonight.)
8. Which blues singer, sang a very different version of Houndog, before Elvis?
I dunno, but I'm gonna guess, Carl Perkins?
9. On tv, who often said, "To the moon, Alice."?
Ralph Kramer ("The Honeymooners". I was in love with Alice.)
10. What was the college major of all the members of the group Boston?
No idea. I was at Bethel when Boston hit the charts, and was too busy to follow music.
So, Larc, what are the answers?
Rational
i know this seems like a dumb subject.. but i often wonder if many of us still believe and feel the need to worship - and not the borg either .
so here is a poll.... what religious orginization - if any - are you affiliated ( this does not mean you had to join it)?.
or - do you feel that everything is wrong due to the borg..and will you ever consider going to an organized religon again??.
Lydia,
I am now "practicing" Christianity, and hope to eventually get it right. It's tough because 95% of what people commonly call "Christianity" is actually medieval in origin and has less to do with Christ than with the myth of redemptive violence (aka mimetic violence) that has driven many people away from Christ.
Cheers,
Rational

posters i have missed, where are they?.
the redoubtable larc,, the ever wise and always reasoned ginny tosken and the interesting and unintimidated d. wiltshire.. hs
The redoubtable yet urbane Ms. Tosken has relocated geographically. I infer from recent correspondence that she may not be returning to the board anytime soon. (That is only my inference, mind.) Her insight, wit, style, poise, and tenacity, will be missed, imho.
As for Larc and D. Wiltshire, I have no information.

i raised this briefly in chat earlier today and i expect a similar response to this thread.. my opinion is that if you are religious/spiritual then you are mentally ill.
Gravedancer,
I was looking forward to your promised reply to Perry and Five Gospels, so just thought I'd bring this back to the surface for you. (Of course, I realize you've been busy posting obscene references to Christ's "second coming"...)
Cheers,
Rational

Queenie (Lisa),
Ignore the seemingly uncompassionate responses to your post. I understand exactly what you are saying, and it's true that at times the lack of love among humans is downright depressing. This board can at times reflect that same reality. Please don't give up hope on others, and feel free to email me anytime. Hugs to you and Mamie.
Take care,
Rational
