"If you are trying to tell me that your stats from the gov is something I should believe you are full of shit. "
So whose stats do you believe? Universities, your friends?
the press or fake news i.e.
npr, abc, nbc, cbc, cnn, pmsnbc, all are suspiciously silent.
as blacks rampage around killing, attacking and looting the press says nothing to see here move on.

Funny enough those blacks are the group with the most hate times committed against them... 10 fold compared to other groups.
In fact whites still commit more hate crimes against Asians than blacks.
To be fair there were only a couple hundred antiasian hate crimes committed in the last two years, so the reporting is blown out of proportion.
The problem here is that the place is becoming an echo chamber and as long as you say something about the blacks there is a gang of five that will applaud whatever you say
are you ready to celebrate??
it’s such a big holiday that the local electric company will be closed in order to celebrate.
only emergencies will be dealt with on that day.. what are you doing for the holiday?.
Virtue signalling, insincere nonsense and you can keep it. What about other slaves from other ethinicities? Exactly! It's all insincere!
I would think a national holiday for the end of slavery in the U.S.A. would only concern the people they enslaved. It was overwhelming passed by Congress regardless of political affiliation. I think the distaste for a group of people is causing the anger.

I've known about, been too, and heard of Juneteenth since the 1980s, so maybe it is regional.

Proclamation made in April... of 1863. Many tried to ignore the proclamation and not inform their slaves or set them free. Many people from southern states went to Texas with their illegal slaves in tow to continue enslaving. It wasn't until the surrender of Lee a full 2 years later at the very end of the civil war that these people were free.
That is why it is celebrated aside from the other two events.

I live in the South and I most definitely will! The food, the fun, the stories etc... are all great.
It is more of a Southern celebration that should definitely get more attention.
After all, if no one sees the need to discredit the celebration of St. Patrick's Day or Cinco de Mayo celebrations in the United States or Rash Hashanah, why not the same support or at least understanding of a holiday that has some symbolism to a historically influential and oppressed group of people.
i just turned 62 and celebrated my first birthday at a local restaurant.
nothing exotic, just draft beer and a burger.
i've been using my spare time to make my community a better place to visit.
James Jack if I remember correctly we use to live near each other in the FL. Congrats on the big moves! Enjoy everything you achieve moving forward.
In regards to the not saving, don't feel you were the only one. My parents both did the same thing. Uprooted our family in the 1960's and moved to where the need was great. So diehard my dad quit his union job, refused any military benefits and worked for near minimum wage for years until he realized 75 was not the end.
Many people firmly believed and made those decisions. Best thing to do is move forward with job bro!!!
