I grew up in NJ and his family often visited our congregation in Irvington by. The father was pretty strict as a matter of fact and would pop and smack them.
They were noticeable only because it was so many of them. When they became famous all the loser sisters woulmd lie that one of the brothers had a thing for them when in actuality it wasn't tru e.
ok. i had a fascinating conversation with one of my polish colleagues at work.
she knows i'm a jdub and an activist as have filled her in warts and all about watchtower.. she came up to me today explaining how a couple of polish witnesses came to her door.
she was curious as to how they knew to call on her door knowing she was polish.
I am not sure if it has been mentioned yet but I remember I was unfortunately given the job of taking the lead in developing in Arabic congregation in central Florida. We actually had theories a time when we would get Internet directories and look for anyone with a name that sounded Arabic and we would purposely go and visit these individuals. We also live near the USF campus and there was a large number of Arabic speakers there as well you put the word out to local congregations if they ran its individuals and spoke Arabic then they were to forward the information on to us it was very Creepy.
i was an elder in two different congregations and both were conservative and strict, especially congregation number one.
it was headed by a former branch servant as they were called back then.
all elders were by the book.
I hate to break the mold but the body I served on was hella loose and allowed alot of things that ultimately resulted in the c.o. removing two.
I was told I would be removed for not enforcing rules on a pioneer sister who was using sex toys.our p.o. later got removed because his son was weed head and the secretary was rich and let his 2 dfed kids move back in.

The other was a young girl who repeatedly had sex and committed i.morality with anything moving. One year after being reinstated age married a guy who had been appointed elder like 5 times and always got removed. One day she claims anointed and she thought she was the shut.
Another was a dude that never came to meetings, was a drunk and the elders 3 times found him lying in a ditch drunk in Tampa.
The last one was an old woman who literally murdered her husband in the 50d.

I appreciate your ability to be able to respond without anger. I also like the viewpoint you put forth. My circle of exjws is quite small but there was this common strand that ran through all their experiences.

I personally do not believe in the concept of secret sin. Afterall it is apparent to me that if there was a creator of sorts he has done nothing to fully inform us how to contact him or how to really do what he wants. He never talks directly to anyone so either so a secret sin seems a bit far-fetched.
However, with the JW mindset in which Jehovo is watching all the time the concept makes sense. After all He knows you told a lie, but somehow watching big breasted asian lesbians getting it on then going in the bathroom and beating off in a sock without telling your wife or the elders appeared to be worse somehow.
Stuckinarut I think maybe you are under the impression that I adhere to that train of thought, but I do not any LONGER. I always considered myself to be a person of high moral standards which is why listening to songs of a certain type caused me to want to repent before JEHOBO, I then felt so guilty that I felt unworthy to even pray. That circumstance sparked a change in me that caused me to look at why I felt that way.
There is no need to apologize for being blunt. It is a discussion board and I hope that part of the reason people come here is to express their opinions and possibly change them based on the experience of others. Pretty far-fetched I know.

Maybe they were over drinking but just didn't want to tell on themselves. They slowly stopped praying and THEN began to find fault. After thinking deeply about this the same thing happened to me. I had a real issue with listening to religious music that completely contradicted JW teachings. I got to the point that nothing seemed real anymore. I slowly slide into examining teachings and then things happened.
Many people that I got close to later on realized this was the case with many of them. Some with porn and too embarrassed to tell. Alchohol and the like. THey stop praying and then start questioning. The sad part is I know 3 witnesses who committed suicide. 2 of the three had admitted to the elders that there had been secret sins being committed and they could no longer pray anymore and the embarrassment of what they had done was too much.
THis idea of secret sin is foolish but can lead to serious consequences it seems.
i just got a call from a friend who said that something in last weeks watchtower caused a number of people in various congregations to start questioning things, and several long time elders left.
i am totally out of the loop but i do read things here and i heard of no such thing.. something to the effect that jw's and governing boobies are not inspired or something along those lines?.
jp1692 I just saw that like 10 minutes ago, they must have had their wires crossed on the dates. Pretty scary that they would actually say that in a Watchtower and people arent leaving in droves...
