The more time that passes and the more revelations I see through analytical thinking and personal research.. the MADDER I get.

Show me where in the Bible it says "the faithful and discreet slave" would be named Watchtower Bible and Tract Society. The JW doctine brags on and on about how every prophecy is accurate and comes to pass.. surely they couldve predicted corporate conglomerates and a money hungry organization that enforces rules with no scriptural backing.. allows children to be molested, wavers on life-or-death issues back and forth and back and forth, and claims to do it all in the name of Jehovah.

We're Back! Finished Romans

mrs ozzie and i are just back from a very stimulating week studying the complete bible book of romans at the feet of noted bible scholar paul barnett.. as many of you would appreciate, it was reading the book of romans that led many brooklynites to see the truth about 'the troof'.

much interesting detail is given in ray franz's book crisis of conscience.

in short, a thorough reading of the complete book, in context, would cause a thinking jw to start to question many of his previously held absolute truths.. we're a trifle tired, so maybe some tidbits later.

IMPORTANT SPORTS ANOUNCEMENT

NBA Basketball is garbage these days. Young, wanna-be thuggish, tattooed, snotty, overpaid brats who think they know fundamentals of a game with rich history and all they do is dunk and tell you "how bad I am" with the ME ME ME attitude. Not to say some other sports are any different, but basketball is by far the most prevalent.

Long gone are the days I miss of Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Isaiah Thomas, and the old Michael Jordan. The players now are of no interest to me whatsoever.

My last talk as a JW

diamond's thread inspired this idea... at least, this is how i wish my last talk had gone.. next on the school is brother hmmm.

his talk is based on the song of solomon, and his theme is: "be steadfast and faithful, like the shulamite maiden.. "throughout history, babylon the great, the world empire of false religion, has fornicated with the scarlet-colored wild beast.

they have traded support for the league of nations--and it's successor the united nations--for political clout and expediency in furthering their selfish goals.

Excellent! If only some people were so brave as to do this when they realize they want no part of the Collective.

Here in Chicago I heard a rumor once that a teenager near my community was getting disfellowshipped for sex and his best friend decided he didnt want to be a Witness anymore either. They orchestrated a very grand exit. The soon-to-be dissed teen sat in the front row for the evening, and conveniently his friend was in charge of the sound system (i.e. playing Kingdom Melodies tapes, etc)

and after the Service Meeting for concluding song when they made the announcement the buddy teen played

"Bout It Bout It" by Master P which is a rap song laden with profanity about basically not giving a fu<k and the kid just announced for being dissed proceeded to stand up, hold his hands up like he hit a field goal and dance out of the hall with his friend as the horrified elders scrambled for the audio.

I dont know if its true or not, but its funny as hell.

I for one hope it happened.

Resignation - not that it matters at all, but ....

i just wanted those kind-hearted, those gentle, those friendly ones of you to know that i wrote my letter of resignation as an elder yesterday, after having served in that capasity for 24 years.. those wishing to call me or any society "bastard", "sucker", "braindead" or anything, as they have before, i would ask please to refrain from that.

other comments would be welcome.. somehow, it is the armstrong quote about "one small step for man, one giant leap for humankind" (approximately) the other way around, "one giant leap for (a) man, one hardly noticeable step for humankind".. ok, that was that.

Regardless of what anyone thinks or says.. what you did was brave.

24 years is a long time to be involved in any task. Over time all people are inclined to complacency or routine. Its what makes one comfortable.

To voluntarily walk away from a position of prestige, to undoubtedly be questioned by all who wonder "why did he resign?", and to be willing to be put under the microscope by your local JDub community for your actions is a courageous course.

My thoughts go out to you, I sincerely wish you peace and happiness in your quest for knowledge and real truth.

Dude.. soccer STILL sucks!

I love almost ALL sports, but contemplating 2 hours of watching jackazzes run around without using their hands and kicking a ball around for a 1-0 score isnt my idea of excitement.

Not to mention.. how many of you soccer countries cant hold a game without someone in the stands getting killed in a mauling?

Besides that BORING and FOOLISH sentiment, the only other thought that comes to mind when you mention soccer is pampering mommies driving around spoiled brats in a minivan because the sport is "new" and "fresh" in America and its the "in" thing.

Spare me.

American Football beats Soccer ANYDAY of the week.

Hell, the rest of the world cant even play it.

Just my opinion, so no need for flames.

i thought this was a little odd, so i did some calculations to see if my observations were correct.. last year, there were 107,218 jws in canada.

they reported 18,544,473 hours of field service.

this activity resulted in 2,030 new baptisms.

i have been a reader of this message board for a number of years and this is the first comment i have made in that time.

i have been part of the wts for 20 years my parents believed they had found the truth when i was 10 and from then on we hung to every word uttered from the platform at the kingdom hall.

my wife was a witness brought up in the wts all her life so the wts was a massive part of all our familes lives from parents to brothers and sisters.
