thank you, thank you, thank you for making me see that i'm wasting my time being in a world of bitter, twisted, self-absorbed people and helping me to wake up to the benefits of being a jehovah's witness!
if any of you come back with the ol - the jw's are full of bitter, twisted, people (in the most stupid arse voice of course!
), i'll reply, yeah, but not as rampant as the rest of the world.....call me crazy if you like, i don't care, because it's my salvation i'm worried about not yours....you've thrown it away because you can't see the bigger picture....trials and tribulation will always abound in this day and age...it is proving like job that we are not discouraged by the trials that gains us the most happiness because we know the trials won't go on much longer and jah will repay us 100 fold for our pain....that's a damn good reward to me!
<yawn>
You seem pretty angry for being one of God's loving people.
Why continue to yell and proclaim so adamantly people here are so bad? Go find some other Bible studies and fellow JW and play the Bible Card Game.

who viciously attack the teachings and beliefs of their resigned religion?.
i was thinking of this last night....i have never in my life seen a movement so big as the apostates against jw's..... no other religion has displayed this....usually people just quietly leave and get on with their lives and there is no anomosity...even if they have been wronged by their religion.... but with jw's it's different...it's an all out and out attack on anyone and everyone who has something positive to say.... makes me believe the bible and the jw's even more...being here is setting the doubt in my mind right....
Oh I agree Ajax.
She is naive.
When I was an unbaptized publisher and a potentiall convert, I was convinced and gung-ho as well.
Even in my first couple of years after I was baptized, I believed it.
She will see the crux of the matter in due time.

On another note while I am thinking of it, it is so simple yet so important...
Violent, if you are an active JW or getting baptized... WHY in the WORLD are you browsing and posting here? Do you not know that is forbidden by WTBTS standards?
Next time your sitting in the Kingdom Hall let one of the local elders know you are looking on the Internet at JW.com and knowingly questioning issues and debating with people who are DA and DF.
You contradict yourself. You have no business continuing a presence here.
There is no point in trying to reason with someone who does not want to be reasoned with. In light of that, I will cease attempting rationale with you. However, I felt it important to point out your blatant hypocrisy.

I applaud the people in this thread who have tried reasoning with ViolentAnai.
Alas, have the majority of you forgotten what it was like to be an newly-baptized or active JW?
In most cases they possessed that "zeal" and honestly believed the JW had the "Truth" and no one could tell you different.
At that particular time you were not the least bit interested in anything critical anyone had to say against the religion, because you yourself had not experienced it.
This is a lesson Violet has to learn for herself over time with experiences with the JW.
She will live with rose-colored glasses on for a period of time, content in satisfying herself with the self-perceived notion she has found Pangea.
I fully expect her to probably lambast me here when she replies in this thread, but this is reality.
On another note, as many have already stated here, if you did your research.. which obviously you have not.. you would KNOW that the JW have declared MANY FALSE teachings. I have the annual bound volumes of Watchtower and Awake magazines from 1945 to 2000, and if you want glaring contradictions given in the literature from the society which allegedly speaks for God himself, you would discover that either God is a liar capable of vacillating and changing his mind every other year, or the WTBTS is a false prophet. You do the math.
To compound upon that, if you did your proper research on other religions, you would know that many, many other religions have so called "apostates" which loudly speak out against the doctrine of the religion they once believed.
You claim the JW have the most outspoken apostates. The reality is you are personally associated with the JW, and that clouds your judgement into being so certain that only JW apostates are the most prominent. Not only that, but Watchtower literature promotes the idea that the world as a whole pays such close attention to what is going on with the JW.. when in fact 6 million people out of almost 7 billion is trivial.
The general public knows LITTLE or NOTHING about JW. Get your act together Violet before you post garbage for other people to read.

i know that by nature (or nurture!

Ironic isn't it?

so what do you drink, where and how?.
of course in britian we drink our pints down the pub.. i have to laught when i'm in europe as they only drink tiny glasses of beer , when you ask for their equivalent of a pint they look at you as if you are some nut case.. anyway i usually get through a couple of bottles of wine and several pints of larger a week.i drink most nights but not too much.. is it true that the legal age for alcohol is 21 in the states?.
i remember celabrating my baptism at 17 with a few pints in the pub.
If I was from the native country of the Swedish Bikini Team...
I would be drinking their ample amounts of milk as well.

here is the situation: my wife is a very faithful true believer (and a wonderful person, i will add, who really wants to do what's right) i have been da'd about a year, and we have 2 children.
our oldest is 13, and really buys into the witness line ( as, of course, i professed to until last summer) and i am fairly sure she is considering baptism.
here is my question: as one half of her parents, is there any legal doctrine that would allow me to prevent her baptism until she is 18?
This is such a difficult situation, and my heart and sympathy goes out to you og. Yet another example of how the JW divide families, and justify it in the name of their "organization"
It would be wise for you to show them the articles already posted here stating you are the "head of the household" and that you take your stand.. substantiating your position with information out of their own literature.
However, be warned. JW can surprise you because I have experienced situations in which even if you show them "guidelines" from their own WTS literature, if it is not serving their selfish interests, they will encourage family members to defy you.
I do not envy your position. In this scenario you are damned if you do, and damned if you dont, much like the Canadian Shunned Father.
I wish you peace, and I pray for your situation to be resolved positively.

a west milford man pleaded guilty to child endangerment offenses friday for sexual encounters he had with two teenage girls he met through his membership at the jehovah's witnesses temple in town.. tom blankenship, 23, had been befriended by an elder at the church and was often invited over for meals and visits, said joseph del russo, passaic county chief assistant prosecutor.. from the fall of 1998 through april 2000, blankenship had sexual relations with one of the elder's relatives, a 17-year-old girl.
he had similar sexual contact with another relative, a 14-year-old girl, from june 2001 through feb. 21, del russo said.. although there was no physical force used in the incidents, blankenship was charged with multiple sexual assault charges because of the victims' ages.
I am inclined to agree with lmbue here.
Depending on the state this case has taken place in.. age varies when determining what qualifies as consent or not.
In Illinois for example, a 17 year old girl is perfectly legal. This was clarified in light of the R. Kelly sex scandal and blasted all over the Chicago newspapers.
A 17 year old girl and a 23 year old male is quite common. I have seen that in JW-congregations when I was an active JW as well as in the general public. Normally I am the first one in line to cast stones at the JW, but that age difference is nothing shocking, nor would it normally be considered immoral or illegal.
However, the 14 year old is an entirely different matter. THAT is an issue which deserves further investigation. If he was 22 or 23 at the time, and she was 14.. then he should DEFINITELY be prosecuted for molestation, statutory rape, and whatever other criminal charges are applicable.
