  Fluff? What would be your ideal vacation?

  i havent had a vacation in almost 3 years.

  because of work i dont have the time and i certainly dont have the money.

  imagination is the only thing i have.

  If the political climate were different than it is currently, I would love to visit the Middle East.

  Alleged Biblical sites aside (the obvious like Jerusalem, Jericho, etc.), it would be a wonderful location to tour just to have the opportunity to see some of the monuments which still stand from civilizations that existed several millenia in the past.

  The Great Pyramids and the Sphinx in Egypt immediately come to mind.

  (sigh) Perhaps in my lifetime it will be realistically possible for an American citizen to safely visit there.

  If you decided to try a church, which one would you try?and why?

  i have been thinking of doing something i have wanted to for along time, just to see, that is go to a church.

  i guess i am a little afraid , or nervous , more than anything, but i feel i ready to venture out there and see what it is about,,,,,,,,,,,lol, i might not stay , i just want to try it.. i just want to give it a chance and right now i have no reason why i shouldnt if i go in with my eyes open.

  i dont know what religion to start with,,,,,,,,, i figure this may be a journey on finding what feels right to me, or it could end up i stay home and do my own worship , who knows.. i know there are many christains on this board and i would be interested in hearing why you choose the faith you did, if it is methodist, catholic, baptist, or other mainstream ones.. i am also interested in other forms of religion some have choosen, and why?

  DISCLAIMER: The following post is my opinion, solely my opinion, and is not to be interpretated as insulting or deragatory of someone else's beliefs.

  If you decided to try a church, which one would you try?and why?

  Why trade in one control group for another? No matter what religion is promoted from a church, the central core belief is the same. You can interchange the term Christianity, Islam, etc. and you still get this:

  We have the only true God. We have the only true religion. You must follow our specific set of doctrines in order to be saved.

  You just escaped the Jehovah's Witness cult. Why show interest in joining another?

  Is it an inherent need to belong? Or a need to feel as though you are part of a group? Is it because you are still unsure of what is right or wrong.. or are you feeling an intrinsic void that needs to be filled with answers about your own spiritual destiny and comprehension of the cosmos?

  Every religion proclaims to have the answers. You see that is how they ensnare people. They play on basic needs.

  If I were you, I would NOT join a church. Go to the library and read the literature of all of the world's different religions. Study the Talmud, the Old Testament, the Koran, etc. You will see the common thread. If you feel the need to join a group or to belong, go to your community college and join a class in some activity that interests you.

  Religion has enough converts.

  this is a question my pioneer brother posed to me as a riddle one day.

  he had gotten it while in the field service with the co. the answer surprised and upset me.. suicide.

  This certainly is a tragic circumstance. What an asshole. Then again, most Jehovah's Witnesses are.

  However, what the Circuit Overseer said conflicts with what Jehovah's Witness doctrine has taught. Your pioneer relative is wrong as well.

  According to the Watchtower, it is more than just suicide that can be considered a sin one cannot be repentant of.

  Hopefully some of the former elders like JT, AlanF, etc. can back me up here. I am posting from work and do not have the literature to cite.

  Watchtower teachings have defined an entire class of inforgivable sins. These are defined as sinning against the holy spirit, or purposely doing wrong (i.e. disfellowshipping offenses without remorse, and intentionally) without regard for the mercy of "Jehovah's forgiveness."

  I notice Shutterbug did not return to the thread to continue spewing unprovoked insults.

  A word of advice for you Shutterbug. To paraphrase Sun Tzu and Niccolo Machiavelli in the art of strategic warfare, you should study your opponent so as to learn their capabilities before engaging them. What this means is you should learn what they are capable of before you go on rashly attacking them and then end up finding out the hard way you make erroneous statements and subsequently make yourself look stupid.

  Anyway, back to the game. Fire is hot. Anyone going to attempt to prove me wrong?

  Does your cat eat grass?

  my cat lives inside, and once in a while i bring her outside.

  i bring her outside to walk and get exercise, but no she sits there and eats grass.

  that's all she does is eat grass.. then she comes back inside and a few hours after she throws up the grass she ate.

  Don't get mad or take it personal. I was only messing with you Mr. Anne Robinson. (inside joke)

  If you were born into the Jehovah's Witnesses a 3rd-generation member and have been on the inside of the organization as long as you proclaim to have been, then you would know that the applause is a way of:

  (going into Jehovah's Witness language cult mode:)

  Showing appreciation for the fine spiritual food provided by Jehovah and the faithful slave at the opportune time. Isn't this 3 day feast on such knowledge a fine blessing?

  Although in recent years, at least in my personal experience, it seems as though that applause is forced. People feel guilty and unspiritual if they do not go along with the crowd and applaud. This serves as a wonderful example of the herd mentality that Dubs submit themselves to. Peer pressure can be such a b1tch.

  You think THAT is bad? Live in Florida. Here in the tropical region we get HUGE bugs.

  I noticed in the picture of the bug posted that it was small enough to fit in two fingers. I am a grown man standing over 6ft in height and 200 lbs.... imagine seeing a bug larger than the size of my entire fist! That can fly!

  The palmetto bug. The water beetle. Scientific name Coleoptera elateridae. These are infamous in Florida.

  HUGE insects. How would you like to wake up to find this crawling on the wall in your bathroom? (actually happened to me) Remember, they can be several inches long and wide and can fly!

  Water is wet.

  YOU ARE WRONG! Water can be present in three possible forms. As we all learned in grammar school science class, water is versatile in that it can be a solid, a liquid, and a gas. When water is evaporated and is reduced to miniscule vapors... it is anything but wet.

  okay, i always look with suspicion on topics that talk about how evil certain jws are, but i am a little curious about this -- who are the "bad guys" on the gb and who are the "good guys" (if any)?

  my experience: ted jaracz -- the bad guy.

  Ted Jaracz has put on a little weight since he took that picture. I noted he is also not wearing his thick-rimmed glasses..

  In any event, either he put on a few pounds or in his extreme old age the skin on his body is sagging to such an extent that it only appears that his chin and other extremities are larger.

  That is without a doubt the most disgusting story I have heard in quite some time.

  Makes me emotionally ill to contemplate it.
