Anders Andersen, in my opinion, it's too broad. I also believe door-to-door note keeping isn't a serious privacy issue, in contrast to Bethel databases. Finally, I'm skeptical about GDPR in general.
I don't oppose the judgment and its consequences - frankly, I'm glad to see the recent changes - but I also don't consider this as a victory or something similar.

sir82, you can read about this case and background in CJEU judgment and (non-binding) opinion of its Advocate General. In aftermath of this judgment, the Finnish Supreme Administrative Court uphold decision of the Finnish Data Protection Board "prohibiting the Jehovah’s Witnesses Community from collecting or processing personal data in the course of door-to-door preaching carried out by its members unless the legal requirements for processing such data laid down".

Interestingly, French letter was sent to congregations in metropolitan France and French overseas departments, whereas France branch territory also includes two sovereign non-European nations, Mauritius and Seychelles.

Yes, because every publisher taking notes - even when there's a householder's consent - bears all responsibilities of controller under GDPR, jointly with local congregation and national entity.
Presumably they have sent letters to foreign language congregations to explain how on earth this is supposed to work.

in my brief time on this site, i've come to realize that most people who have been shunned or stray away from the jehovah witnesses normally end up having no faith at all.

Page 10 indicates the brochure merely quotes from August 2006 Awake! And the quote can be understood as "JWs don't accept transfusions, even those who are medical professionals themselves".
Also, Correspondence Guidelines (as of 2011) stated: "A Christian who is a nurse or a doctor respects the Scriptures and therefore would not recommend or order a blood transfusion for a patient. If he or she as an employee is not responsible for deciding the matter and is directed by a superior to administer a transfusion to a non-Witness, whether to obey is a matter for personal, conscientious decision.—w99 4/15 28-30; w75 4/1 215-16" (p. 15).

(i'm quite certain almost no jw knows about that site btw.).
anyway i've been working on automatically harvesting data from all the congregation finance statements to gain more insight in how the borg is doing over time.. now it occured to me that i could do this analysis for more countries and get an even bigger picture.
