Well, the internet isn’t a sovereign nation so I don’t think anyone has the jurisdiction to enforce a currency standard for the internet, so as far as I know it isn’t legal. However, as with all currencies, the only thing that gives its value is the social construct that we’ve all agreed to assign it some value.

Implications of gender and racial imbalance in JW population.
by doubtfull1799 inthis was inspired by a recent post by nike and the comments that followed re gender balance in the org.
if jw's accept the concept that the gb continue to push - that people only become believers if they are "rightly disposed" and are thereby "drawn by god.".
then given the huge gender imbalance and also the huge differences in percentages of jw in some lands vss others only two things can possible follow from that:.

Yeah, I could never really reconcile the whole “god draws those with the right heart condition” to anything that made logical sense. -

CLAM MEETING Dumbing down
by freddo inso yesterday was the midweek meeting - the first of the month for december so instead of locals doing the little talk skits we get the on screen shadow puppets.. after each one the ms taking the item asks the congregation for "positive" comments.. part way through i get a text from a pimo brother enduring the show which reads thus (and i quote word for word ...).
"it's like listening to a bunch of people from a mental institution.
".

I went to them for about six months before I got out. Half of it is tedious videos and a a portion of those are literally cartoons for children. (Often with sexist/homophobic/xenophobic overtones)

Does "Hanlon's Razor" apply to the Governing Body?
by stuckinarut2 ini recently learned of the term "hanlon's razor".. wikipedia defines it as: .
hanlon's razor is an aphorism expressed in various ways including "never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.
" it recommends a way of eliminating unlikely explanations for a phenomenon (a philosophical razor).. so could it be said that this applies to the gb / society ?.

Most definitely, my best friend in the world is my female roommate (scandalous I know), I've wished many people a "Happy Birthday," and will soon be wishing them "Merry Christmas" as I celebrate these things for the first time in my life.

draw close to god, and he will draw close to you.—jas.
by continuing to ponder over spiritual things, we will maintain our enthusiasm for the truth.

I have an amusing anecdote attached to this particular scripture. Many years ago when I was a little kid this was the year text. Being a little kid I naturally preferred spending time drawing instead of listening to the boring crap being discussed at the meetings, so when my parents tried to take my notepad away so I'd pay attention I asked, "But mom, how am I supposed to draw close to God if I can't draw?"

JWs - Liberals or Conservatives?
by neat blue dog inwhere they stand is a strange mixture.
yes, they don't agree with abortion and homosexuality, they believe in the bible and wear skirts and ties to church .
but in many ways they're liberal.

I know that even when I was still in, I leaned pretty far to the left. I never felt comfortable with the Watchtowers views on women or homosexuals, and even though I was supposedly "neutral" during the 2016 election, I was very much rooting for Bernie Sanders before the primaries ended, and then very much against Donald Trump before he took office.

Don't cave to their illogical demand that you sacrifice your best chance in life to get a college education. In my opinion college is a wonderful experience in and of itself that will change you for the better if you let it. I know for me personally it expanded my ambition, compassion, empathy, and capacity for logical thought, all on top of increasing the knowledge I have in my desired field.
Do your best to ignore their arrogance that leads them to think they have right to tell you what to do with your own life, because in the end you have to live with results of those decisions, not them.

Are We In A Computer Simulation?
by Brokeback Watchtower inelon musk believes we are and he's a pretty smart guy that runs spacex, a lot black hole physics may seem to present the 3 dimentional space as a hologram of a 2 dimentional sphere.. i think this is open for serious debate.
what are the pros and cons?.

If I recall the interviews correctly, Elon didn't say we are in a computer simulation, rather he said he considers it to be statistically more probable than not that our reality is some sort of computer simulation based on the idea that the capability of our own technology is increasing at such a rate that it could someday reach the point of creating a simulation that is indistinguishable from "reality."
That is perhaps a subtle distinction, but I think it is an important one.

We missed you at the meetings...

i found it more irritating than a dose of farmers on the bum.
i've even said it when i was a brainwashed jobo drone.

I guess one nice side effect of being officially out of the religion is not having to deal with this particular kind of bullshit.
