LOL on the ministry school overseers wife!!!
it seems like everyone is so miserable. They're waking up, saying 'I'm not going to do this anymore.' No wonder they're giving so many talks about loyalty and compliance.

I quit the Theocratic Ministry School
by My Name is of No Consequence inafter almost 24 years in the school and doing it since i was nine years old, i officially resigned.
it has become increasingly difficult to prepare talks, especially with the new format for brothers.
i did not mind doing them; i actually put the time and effort into getting them out.

I had witness friends my age from the Congo that were complete frenemies. Trying to mange friendships with them was constant drama since I was little! I tried for a long time, but in middle school said 'I am so done' and made friends with a book smart group of worldly girls. They were soooo much fun, so much better, such a relief. But really there's only so close you can get to them. I wasn't allowed to hang out at their houses or go to their birthday parties, so they were much closer amongst themselves than with me :(. Anyway, so later after leaving the religion, I tracked down my worst witness frenemy who had been long disfellowshipped. Guess what, she's the sweetest most accepting person now. The religion and her screwed up mother made her miserable. She has moved on and is happy. We are truly each other's oldest friends now, and we've got each others back. -

Midweek Meetings no longer Necessary
by Tech49 ini am sure we have all seen the recent letter to the boe concerning the change that will take place to the meeting arrangement during the week of the co visit.
to recap the basics: the meeting that usually contains the cong bible study (book study) and a co talk will be discontinued, publishers are encouraged to use their family worship night that week to cover book study material.. so here is a point that i think has been missed, or not even considered:.
if that particular meeting is hereby deleted from the schedule, the co and his wife will never ever have to participate in or go to another "book study", or "bible study" night again.

Thanks guys. Omg TREAT NiGHT was a huge fun thing for the kids. Seriously, what have they got now??? I guess still donut/bagel breaks after an hour and a half of service...(not worth it)
they should have disbanded Thursday night meeting instead. Or Sunday...Sunday is useless. At least Thursday prepared you for service (theoretically...) and is a good platform for announcing disfellowshippings....always exciting. Sunday is just one loooong drone.

So much success in life comes from who you know, connections you have, doors someone has opened for you, pure luck of being somewhere at the right time. 'Worldly' people know to jump on those opportunities, they are precious. Witnesses jump in the way of the door, 'hey, don't go in there, Armageddon is near! That could distract you from the real life!!' I had a witness piano teacher who sometimes got excited about my progress, and would say 'I could train you to be a concert pianist!!!.......but those are worldly goals, pioneering should be the focus, this old system is ending.' Ugh. Either we closed those doors for ourselves, or someone else closed them. I remember a 'sister' bragging at a wedding that her son had been offered a couple of million dollar baseball contracts when he was finishing high school, but he chose to turn them down to pioneer. Wonder where he is now. -

We left shortly after they dropped the home book study. I knew I wasn't going to stick around to see the long term results, but I thought this was a serious mistake by the society. The home book study drew you very close to several families in the cong. You were never as close to other people as those in your book study. Hasn't disbanding this been detrimental to the community feeling (and also, pressure to keep going) in the congregation? Anyone still in, can you see/feel the difference? -

Do you feel bad throwing away literature?

what about your old song book or bible from your early days in the org?.
if so, is it because of sentimentality, monetary cost or because it might be 'sacred' ?.

No..definitely not magazines or brochures, but I was sentimental and kept a copy of the great teacher book, bible stories, my witness bible and mustard songbook (what an ugly color) unfortunately didn't have a copy of the pink songbook anymore, would like one.
The books I chucked, I just tore off the covers and recycled the rest. No I didn't feel guilty. And the newer paperback books recycle nicely without any alterations :).

Gigi if you still want to have a faith, research different religions...Wikipedia is a good source, or belief.net, and find the one that agrees with you the most. Do outside research on witness doctrine first, tho. Lots of ppl here became atheist in their journeys, but many of us didn't. You will find your own way, and you will be at peace with it. Everyone here is at peace with their amount of faith and hope, whether they have it or don't. -

Funny how sentimental we can be about the old days. I guess other people have that old Halloween costume, moms christmas ham, the army medal, the sports jersey,...we have old books. -

Had a major blow out
by freemindfade inmy mom was emailing a group thread of rhetoric about isis and armageddon, and i finally got sick of it and said some pretty intense harsh things about ideals, and wishing for armageddon.
then it went back and forth like some debate, all the while i am holding back unloading serious ttatt on my family.
i put a whole bunch of scriptures where the wonderful yahweh committed infanticide.

But their game IS disfellowshipping. They don't really have a definition for those who have faded. 'Inactive' isn't accurate...witnesses who go to meetings but not in service are 'inactive'.
it's just to be able to still talk with family. I really like tho, that you make your mom see you. She knows you love her. But everyone is different and has different personalities. Most of us couldnt do that, I think.

sorry to keep harassing you with these posts.... so today, i decided i was ready to look at a text from a sister who "liked" me.
she knew about my depression and apparently she says everyone is worried about me and she wants me to respond because she's worried that i'm not "here" anymore.
