Why do I suddenly want to start reading JW literature and going to Kingdom Halls?
by yogosans14 inis good calling me back or am i just letting my emotions get the best of me?also i really want to be closer to my jw family.
btw i was never baptized and i consider myself a born again christian i go to a baptist church and wath televangelist and i have expirenced gods presence like never before but sometimes i get fearful and think "what if jws are right and i'm wrong" than i'm screwed!but if there wrong and i'm right it doesn't look to good for them.. i would prefer if nobody posted "god isn't real" type comments.
i truly believe he is real but i respect why some are atheists..

Vinman, I've been in a new church for some years now and can honestly say I trust these Christians and people in other churches or even most strangers in my town as much as witnesses. You will find a new community and experience this too, if you want. -

Worship of Jesus till 1954??? This is something that is new to me! Please fill me in! I left the religion because they do not worship Jesus, and the bible showed me he should be.
I am still very much into the bible and am still a bit obsessed with witness theology and how it contrasts with the bible. I often read a scripture and remember their interpretation of it, tho I have a good study bible which is nice for reading different interpretations of scriptures. But for a year or so I would go on apologist websites and read what they had to say against witness doctrine. Really really interesting stuff there, about Old Testament scriptures that were about God that were also about Jesus...witnesses NEVER read those scriptures. Wish I could remember the sites. I know you feel stuck now and concerned about your family. It takes a lot of patience and periods of insanity may surface!! Good luck!

Mind control.
by New day inin a recent thread someone mentioned that the wtbts uses mind control techniques.
do you think this is a conscious ploy?
if it is it would mean that the leaders of my religion (i am still an active jw) set out consciously to control people.

Great post, magnum! They are so much like the government of North Korea. I saw a documentary where western doctors came in to do a simple operation on blind North Koreans to restore their sight..a common operation in developed countries. There was a big show of what a miracle Kim Jong il had done for them. Oh THANK you Kim jong il!!!! They didn't know it was a common operation in the west, they only were told this miracle was a gift from their Dear Leader.
The half truths, outright lies, special lingo, lack of freedom, propaganda, controlled media, blind worship of their leaders and believing anything they say...or else....and you can't escape without losing everything.

A hundred bucks a month, mostly going into local expenses.
i loved our local cong, and miss the people very much. feel bad to have abandoned them especially when some reached out unhypocritically to keep connections going. But I just had to move on with my life. Wish they could be free too.

Current U.S Federal Judge is a Jehovah Witness... How does this guy not get forced to quit his job and not get in trouble?

Witnesses judge every day, they are the most judgmental people in town!
Ironically, my mother says she can't serve on a jury because it would hurt her conscience to judge another person.

They write things in their personal elders books that are not printed. They are told to write these more stringent rules when they go to their elders conventions. You know the manual they handed over isn't one that had writing in it. -

POLL: Will You Be Attending The Memorial & If You Are---Why?
by minimus ini was just invited.
i thanked my old elder friend and he left.
(i'm not going).

Nope, but I do partake monthly at my church and even sometimes give communion to some of the elderly who can't make it because they are stuck at home. <3 there is absolutely nothing to miss by missing the witness memorial. It's an empty, awkward ceremony based on a bizarre interpretation of scripture. -

Yeah, and never change your mind and decide you should not have joined, because if you do change your mind, you will lose all your family and anyone you have ever been allowed to associate with.
Wow what a loving 'arrangement' that would be!!! Should we write that as a warning when people register here?? Or just catch them unawares?
oh, wait.., we're not a cult.

Yes do come back in a couple of years. Even if it's to tell us you are as strong a witness as ever. Good luck in life, I mean erm, may it go well with you.
