i just shared the pbs newshour segment with her with no comment other than something along the lines of, "jw story on pbs.".

15 Years of Jehovahs-Witness.com
by Simon inyes, today is the forum's 15th birthday!.
i never thought for one moment that it would survive this long or have so many people post so many great subjects over the years.. it is still humbling when i get pm's or emails from people expressing how the site has helped them and of course thanks goes to all the posters who have shared their experiences and make helpful and supportive comments to others who are in the sometimes difficult process of learning the real truth about 'the truth'.. the site has gone through several different incarnations over the last 15 years running on different platforms, different databases and different hosts but we've been able to keep all the old topics.
the current site is still being developed and i'm hoping to push another major upgrade soon.. i also may have some other news to share soon about the future of the site so stay posted.. until then, here's the the next 15 years!

Thank you Simon for starting such a loving community forum for people who need help. Those who are caught in a trap either still physically or within their own minds...you help loosen those bonds so they can be free, and you help friends or family stay sane and cope when their loved ones aren't ready to loosen the bonds. It's huge, Simon. Thank you! -

why report more partakers?
by rebel8 inof all the threads here about the number of partakers increasing, i don't recall theories as to why they report this.
they could stop reporting numbers altogether or lie.
instead they say, in essence, "our teachings about end times and heavenly hope are still wrong"..

Mad Irish, I don't think there is a way of tracking these par takers by their country of origin, is there? -

I wish I could have gone to school with parents who said 'do your best...you can be whatever you want to be, you just have to work to get there.' I'll never know what I could have been. The world was ending, every goal but a witness goal was worthless and discouraged. And what could a girl really be anyway but a pioneer? I hated service!!
people without regrets I admire. I regret that I'm not one if them. Wish I could do it all over again. Feel like uncle Rico sometimes. If I could just go back to 1982! Lol

Why do I suddenly want to start reading JW literature and going to Kingdom Halls?
by yogosans14 inis good calling me back or am i just letting my emotions get the best of me?also i really want to be closer to my jw family.
btw i was never baptized and i consider myself a born again christian i go to a baptist church and wath televangelist and i have expirenced gods presence like never before but sometimes i get fearful and think "what if jws are right and i'm wrong" than i'm screwed!but if there wrong and i'm right it doesn't look to good for them.. i would prefer if nobody posted "god isn't real" type comments.
i truly believe he is real but i respect why some are atheists..

Vinman, I've been in a new church for some years now and can honestly say I trust these Christians and people in other churches or even most strangers in my town as much as witnesses. You will find a new community and experience this too, if you want. -

Worship of Jesus till 1954??? This is something that is new to me! Please fill me in! I left the religion because they do not worship Jesus, and the bible showed me he should be.
I am still very much into the bible and am still a bit obsessed with witness theology and how it contrasts with the bible. I often read a scripture and remember their interpretation of it, tho I have a good study bible which is nice for reading different interpretations of scriptures. But for a year or so I would go on apologist websites and read what they had to say against witness doctrine. Really really interesting stuff there, about Old Testament scriptures that were about God that were also about Jesus...witnesses NEVER read those scriptures. Wish I could remember the sites. I know you feel stuck now and concerned about your family. It takes a lot of patience and periods of insanity may surface!! Good luck!

Mind control.
by New day inin a recent thread someone mentioned that the wtbts uses mind control techniques.
do you think this is a conscious ploy?
if it is it would mean that the leaders of my religion (i am still an active jw) set out consciously to control people.

Great post, magnum! They are so much like the government of North Korea. I saw a documentary where western doctors came in to do a simple operation on blind North Koreans to restore their sight..a common operation in developed countries. There was a big show of what a miracle Kim Jong il had done for them. Oh THANK you Kim jong il!!!! They didn't know it was a common operation in the west, they only were told this miracle was a gift from their Dear Leader.
The half truths, outright lies, special lingo, lack of freedom, propaganda, controlled media, blind worship of their leaders and believing anything they say...or else....and you can't escape without losing everything.
