Why attack?
by newqatarjob inas someone brought up as a jw and been an elder and been disfellowshipped (twice!!!
) i find it difficult to understand why ex jws have to attack the religion, yes religion, not cult or sect.
i am no longer disfellowshipped just do not want to practice anymore.

Oubliette needs to say his refrain here.....oh shoot, I'll just do it for him
...'let's review.......it's a CULT!'

Mad Irishman, I have a lot of love in my heart. Almost no hate. I talk to someone going through something hard and try whatever I can do to help them, sometimes beyond the point of reason. I have almost nothing but love in my heart!!
But I hate that my parents joined a religion that won't allow me to live my own life and still Have my family. My own life being, I have read the bible and seen that it's different from the witnesses and cant live a lie anymore. Is this my fault? Maybe, for reading the bible and CARING. It's a screwed up witness policy, based on Their hatred of other religions.
It's be true to myself and my God, or live a fake life to keep my parents. What causes that? The witness policy. I hate that this religion tears apart families.

Introducing my self
by WasOnceBlind ini stumbled upon this site about a week ago while googling a question.
the question was "why can't jw's have beards?
" i read the responses and realized the truth in them.

Hi oncewasblind! Welcome and you are like me, who never fully embraced the whole thing. I guess we're just too observant :). Congrats on having your own life!! But I know it's tough that your family is under their control and you feel so far away from them. I have that problem too. But having your own immediate family out of it is a huge blessing.
You studied the live forever book. Which I basically know by heart, since my mother was a pioneer and had a million studies out of it that I had to sit through. :)
i stumbled upon this site a couple of months ago after researching 'jw's and 1914/2014'... I wanted to see if they had changed their stance on 1914 since i's been over a hundred years (lol)....but nope, they are still! dragging it out.

Regional Conventions 2015 - theme
by Elisa1966 ini came across this website: http://www.ministryideaz.com/2014-jw-regional-convention-notebook-p/cu15dcgr.htm .
there it reads: note taker for 2015-2016 "imitate jesus!
" regional convention of jehovah's witnesses.

I'm going to imitate Jesus and not do what the Pharisees want me to do. -

*im sorry, it's just so ironic that a witness would say 'get a life', it makes me grin.
No, I agree you shouldn't be kicked off, not yet. And hopefully we can all be civil, including you. And not call people idiots.

All the changes
by vinman inare their any newer people here, who recently found out ttatt, who has been disturbed by all the new changes in the organization?
it is turning into something that feels impersonal.
i know change is good.
-
FayeDunaway
Newer to the ttatt, I think he means.
most of the changes happened after we left...I really really am curious what my parents are thinking about all of it, but since we don't talk, I don't know.

yay to your mom!! I bet she comes back and reads some more to see more true things that witnesses aren't saying :).
and welcome!! I never formally introduced myself but I appreciate those who do.
I bet this is a regional thing. In places with nice climates and good schools the witnesses aren't believing so strongly anymore. In places with real struggles the paradise hope still has its luster. (Thoughts on that?)

When in doubt, I don't believe you have read crisis of conscience, or you wouldn't have said what you did about Ray franz. You are not knowledgable about him. Get it off your bookshelf and read it.
you do disagree then with the society about reading apostate literature, reading 'all sides of an issue' as you say. Is that your only disagreement?
