Thanks you guys! Fascinating, all these spinoffs of Russell that we as witnesses never heard about! -

Do you remember the 15 minute break at the Sun. meeting?
by 3rdgen ina poster on another thread reminded me of when there was a 15 min.
break between the talk and the wt study on sundays.
the break was supposed to be to allow jw's time to drive their bible studys home from the talk.

Holy cow I hadn't thought about this in decades. I believe I was VERY young when they discontinued the break on Sundays. Does someone remember the exact year? It must have been around 1977 maybe? I remember liking the chance to play with my friend (only slightly...we were allowed to say hello and not actually play). -

by SpunkedTeen ini just found this website and im so glad because for the first time in a long time i dont feel alone...i am a born in and in the last two years have been struggling because i thought that i was the problem and i was the reason for not feeling any love from and for the other pubs .i want to leave the org but have no idea how to tell my mother(who is a faithful jw).

If I was you I wouldn't tell my mother yet. Just slack off with witness stuff little by little. And occasionally try to ask questions to get her to think. This will make her worry, but won't completely break her heart all of a sudden, and who knows you might help her start thinking.
I am really sorry you lost your father.
As I said before, use your last year in high school to do the best you can, save money, and talk to counsellors (there are way too many ways to spell that word and I don't know which is right and am unwilling to look it up!)
Definitely get involved socially in school this last year. Heck even try to go to prom if you can. Start living your life. But be very gentle with your mom.

Why hasn’t someone gotten real pissed off yet?
by John Aquila ini keep reading of some guy who is so upset at someone that he goes into a theater and shoots 20 people..
or a kid that is so mad that the other kids made fun of him that he goes to school and shoots a bunch of kids..
or some guy that was fired from his job and he goes back and shoots of bunch of his workers.

The JW's would get sympathy if something violent happened to them. They don't carry guns or go to war. People would be like, 'they're innocent! Annoying, but innocent!'...without understanding all the real harm they do to people.
I never considered violence. In my most tumultuous crisis/ttatt days I considered picketing the local hall with 'JW's destroy families!!' signs. And if they were going to disassociate me I was going to stand up immediately after the announcement and shout 'I'm free!!!' While running out of the hall. It was a fantasy I used to have while sitting through meetings.
I think anyone learning ttatt can see pretty clearly and knows everyone is brainwashed. As cruel as they can act, they are controlled by someone else.

It could potentially happen, there are enough crazy JW's that it's possible one could go postal. However most of us realize other JW's are victims of mind control just as we were. -

Would it be possible to catch a GB on his travel plans?
by StarTrekAngel ini was just wondering if, among the many videos available, anyone ever caught one of the gb members leaving hq on a trip.
i doubt anyone followed them but at least leaving the building.
what do they ride?.

Child Abuse - "I don't care. I haven't got any children".
by cofty inearlier this week i bumped into a couple of jws who i recognised from the cult cart.
a few months ago i had a long conversation with him one of them and found him to be quite friendly.
he is new to the area in the years since i left.. this time he was very defensive and said he wasn't allowed to talk to me.

I bet he rued his own words after he said them. I bet they echoed in his head all day. I bet it makes him think. -

"Millions Now Living Will Never Die"
by drewcoul ini understand that the judge's book "millions now living will never die" has undergone a slight of hand change of title to "millions now living may never die.".
where could i find the new title in print in any wt publication?
i do not have a wt library anymore, and would like to show my mom how they have changed the name of the book in their references to it..

Good one berry! Or is it 'millions now dying MAY never live'?
There's still a chance if they come to places like this and wake up!

Yes, I agree with the advice above. But meanwhile do your best at school, college is the direction you should take. Junior college is usually a good option for witnesses unless there's a way you can go straight to university. Also, if you have a job, sock away as much money as possible so you can use it towards college. Don't give in to the the temptation to buy lots of clothing or entertainment. In your particular situation it is especially important to have cash for when you choose to move on from this religion.
Talk to the councillor at school about your situation. She will do what she can for you, and possibly even get you scholarships.
You are DEFINITELY not alone! Even tho I stayed with the witnesses for way too long, I felt like you did when I was in high school. Unfortunately I believed part of it, so got baptized etc etc. You have a fantastic life ahead of you! Stay positive and be an advocate for yourself.
edit: yes, as one eyed joe said, tell us more about yourself and your family situation, we can give you more specific advice. Love!
