Greybeard, don't feel too guilty or stupid for what you told your son back then. You were brainwashed at the time, and you were just trying to salvage what you could of your fatherhood and teach your son something on your way out. Yeah it is regrettable now that you see the religion as total B.S., but really at the time you were just doing what you could do. Be more angry at the people who do the manipulating. They just want to stay in control and will do anything to keep stringing people along and making sure they stay scared, guilt ridden and slave bound.

I just don't understand this, what am I missing???
by Greybeard inas i am watching this video about changes at bethel, the speaker said, "aren't we glad the faithful and discrete slave continues to make adjustments when necessary.
what about this change?
"finally, we examined why jesus’ arrival to appoint the faithful slave over all his belongings did not occur in 1919 but will take place during the great tribulation" that is from this online watchtower article last paragraph: https://www.jw.org/en/publications/magazines/w20130715/jesus-prophecy-last-days/ .

How to shake up Jdubs...
by Rather Be the Hammer ini didn't attend the meeting last night, but my in husband came home and was quite shocked because there was a letter announcing that there will be no wt-library cd-rom any more, and..... no more calendar.. he said there was a lot of talking and noise when that was announced.. i didn't expect the calender to go, by the way.
and my husband sounded really concerned, talking about how society is cutting down.
i love it when he says with a tone of surprise in his voice: 'you were right, now they want us to do everyting digital, and throw out the printed stuff.

They will have to change their name to the Watchtower B-movie and Theatrical Schmaltz Society.

Will Bro. Rogers be DF'd posthumously for drug addiction?
by ShirleyW insome have been df'd for suspicion of smoking cigarettes, yet bro.
rogers death is because of an addiction, fentanyl is what they are saying is the drug that did him in which was reported on the news as being more potent than heroine.
why is it that some nosy sister can report you because someone who looked like you was in the parking lot the same time as she was, yet bro.

Article: Autopsy: Prince Died Of Overdose Of Fentanyl
by AndersonsInfo inhttp://minnesota.cbslocal.com/2016/06/02/prince-autopsy-death-toxicology/.
minneapolis (wcco/ap) — autopsy results show that prince died of a self-administered overdose of fentanyl, and his death was ruled accidental.. the 57-year-old singer was found dead april 21 at his minneapolis-area estate.
the findings confirm suspicions that opioids played a role in the musician’s death.. after he died, authorities began reviewing whether an overdose was to blame and whether he had been prescribed drugs in the preceding weeks.. according to the national institute on drug abuse, fentanyl is more potent than morphine, and is “sometimes used to treat people with chronic pain who are physically tolerant to opiates.”.

I feel bad for him. The guy was in terrible pain. But also I'm angered 'lesser' drone type witnesses are punished for the same thing.

Our Letter to Our Family
by What Now? inour families have cut off contact with us for the last several months.
they found out that we were celebrating holidays with our non-witness family.
our families were our last tie to the organization, as our former friends stopped associating with us about 3 years ago.

Wow, fantastic letter!!! I missed it the first time too (maybe it was Christmastime and a lot of us were otherwise engaged ?!?)
I saw myself in a lot of what you wrote. I too had to leave because I didn't want my kids to grow up in this bizarre cult and couldn't in good conscience stay any longer. I also pointed out to my parents that THEY left the religion they had been brought up in, and their parents still talked to them...even tho it was a strict religion and their parents were deeply hurt...but unfortunately my parents had chosen a religion that if I do the same thing, they can no longer speak to me!!

Church of Christ, Scientist
by lrkr inwe were in boston this weekend and stayed at a hotel in the back bay, close to the hq of the church of christ, scientist.
these guys have an impressive cathedral and an hq setup that includes a "library for the betterment of mankind" as well as a walk in globe that represents the scope of their religion.
they have similar origins to jws- 19th century mysticism mixed with literal reading of the bible, heavy central control and "democratic" church structures.. but, for some reason, they really annoyed me.

I had a long conversation Monday with someone who grew up Christian scientist. He said at least there are no 'punishments' for those who do seek medical care, have surgeries etc, as opposed to JW's who could get disfellowshipped for a blood transfusion.

I think I figured out their strategy with all the creepy videos
by JeffT ini came in during all the hype over 1975. the predictions about that date were the real driver behind all their activity.
since then, they haven't had a good goad to prod the sheep.
they seem to be smart enough not to try another date.. i think they plan to use fear instead.

What really angers me is that children are sitting there too, and taught these false prophesies and being scared. They don't have the perspective we have, they don't know to be cynical. They are taught to fear everything around them. This is child abuse.

I am just so, so glad that me and my husband are out if it, and all of our kids too. Nothing, nothing, not anything or anyone, will ever take my kids away from me. Jehovah's Witnesses: I don't miss you. Not one bit. I am so glad to be out of you. Go screw yourselves. You aren't going to ruin THIS family .

I'm getting disfellowshipped
by raven inhi everyone, a bit of an update here on my continuing disaster of a situation.. (refer to my previous posts for the full story) my mom met with me yesterday for dinner, it was nice.. however, she brought up the fact that because i live with my boyfriend and how everything has gone down, i will be disfellowshipped.. i think the elders basically have enough proof of this.. due to the anonymous tipper (still have no clue who it was, i live in another town 100's of miles away from my old congregation territory), and my mom telling them.
i'm not sure when they will announce it, or if they will contact me prior.. at this point i feel so emotionally dead i don't care- on the other hand, i don't want to be disfellowshipped because i do not want to loose a relationship with my mom.
that is the whole reason i tried fading out.. .

It's all so sad and sick.
She might still talk to you on the sly, depending on if she's hardcore or not. She might be more nervous about you coming over and your car being seen at her house etc than talking on the phone. Talk about these things to her before it happens. Some families even end up leaving if their children are cut off, because they see the cruelty.
I remember a disfellowshipped member here, pbrow, actually forces his presence on his mom, shows up and does her gardening etc., and they have a relationship because of it.
