Capppytan, it's true. I used to 'excuse' a lot of stuff local elders did and said, because it wasn't directly from the GB. Then a GB member gave a talk at our convention that was really judgmental, negative stuff. I was like.....I cant excuse that. And then you realize, they are just chosen the same way local elders are chosen. And then during that talk, I defiantly read the New Testament instead of listening to him, and his words I was still hearing peripherally were nothing like what I was reading. The words sounded like Pharisees' words. And I realized, this is not the truth.

by Gilgamesh inwhile working on a comments for one of the articles in the march 15, 2015 watchtower (on types and antitypes) i decided to make a transcript of the talk that turned into that particular article.
as usual, the article that finally saw print had evolved quite a bit from the original.. anyway, here's the transcript that i also put up on the ad1914.com site.. the 2014 annual meeting program video can be found on tv.jw.org (currently found under programs and events).

Why attack?
by newqatarjob inas someone brought up as a jw and been an elder and been disfellowshipped (twice!!!
) i find it difficult to understand why ex jws have to attack the religion, yes religion, not cult or sect.
i am no longer disfellowshipped just do not want to practice anymore.

Mad Irishman, I have a lot of love in my heart. Almost no hate. I talk to someone going through something hard and try whatever I can do to help them, sometimes beyond the point of reason. I have almost nothing but love in my heart!!
But I hate that my parents joined a religion that won't allow me to live my own life and still Have my family. My own life being, I have read the bible and seen that it's different from the witnesses and cant live a lie anymore. Is this my fault? Maybe, for reading the bible and CARING. It's a screwed up witness policy, based on Their hatred of other religions.
It's be true to myself and my God, or live a fake life to keep my parents. What causes that? The witness policy. I hate that this religion tears apart families.

Hi oncewasblind! Welcome and you are like me, who never fully embraced the whole thing. I guess we're just too observant :). Congrats on having your own life!! But I know it's tough that your family is under their control and you feel so far away from them. I have that problem too. But having your own immediate family out of it is a huge blessing.
You studied the live forever book. Which I basically know by heart, since my mother was a pioneer and had a million studies out of it that I had to sit through. :)
i stumbled upon this site a couple of months ago after researching 'jw's and 1914/2014'... I wanted to see if they had changed their stance on 1914 since i's been over a hundred years (lol)....but nope, they are still! dragging it out.

All the changes

it is turning into something that feels impersonal.
