Marvster, I used to ask what the red stuff was that came out of the veins while my mother cooked chicken. She said it was 'juices.'

Name Things You Can't Do If You Are JW...or not supposed to do
by minimus inwitnesses are not supposed to stand for the national anthem but can stand for a flag salute.. you can't say bless you if someone sneezes, good luck!, or " you too" if someone says, happy holidays.. it is a religion of cannot dos.
everything is pagan and worldly.. what are things that are unacceptable to jehovah's witnesses that really are no big deal to everyone else?
?.

WTW that sucks you had THAT kind of family. Ours did take vacations, lots of them.
didnt it suck when your family had to take WT rules and actually make them worse? For anonymity I can't say what my family's was, but I had a friend who couldn't wear purple because it was the color of royalty. It was her favorite color. I had another friend who had to say a prayer over a glass of water and every nibble she took throughout the day. Her mother said 'or else Jehovah will cut your throat!'

Vi I think it's maybe something to do with 'protecting the family unit,' that mothers should stay home and take care of their children full time. -

Similarly, when my good friend's mom died of cancer, my mother blamed her daughter for the death, because she married a worldly guy and became inactive and 'stress can cause cancer.' -

TV.JW.ORG (September 2015) - Generation explained again
by Designer Stubble inguess the overlapping generation concept is difficult for most to comprehend.
david spane does his best to explain it again.
the cutoff date for this generation has now moved to 1992 (was once 1935), the year that fred franz died.

A Techno-phobe seeks advice.
by Phizzy inthis may seem simple to all you young folks(under 50) out there, but this old fart is just wondering, how much can people see on facebook in the way of comments, if you have privacy up and running so that, i thought, only those you have friended can see what you comment ?.
i am not overly bothered, but it occurs to me that since in recent times i have been more active on fb, my outspoken comments against the jw scam may be visible to those who are not actually "friends" ???.
i am just wondering if i should expect (as in monty python) the spanish inquisition ?.

Simon's right, they constantly change the privacy settings, and everything goes back to their default (and very open) mode every time they do!! Obviously Facebook doesn't understand what it's like to try to leave a cult! They have this dreamy 'people should be open about their lives' mentality which is just not practical for EVERYONE in the world.
Seriously, if you are going to post stuff, be willing to face what may happen. Sometimes that's liberating, but it's scary beforehand and during.

Stillin...yes it's funny. I was always particularly disturbed by Mormon teachings. 'They're so crazy and sexist' etc etc...I think it was a way of deflecting some of the feelings I had for my own birth religion, but wasn't free to express.
And witnesses, they think every fringe religion is crazy but their own. 'Oh my gosh, christian scientists!! Not going to the doctor!!! Extremist!! Amish!!!Get with modern times!!! Mormons!! How can they possibly believe a canoe of Israelities sailed across the ocean?? Don't even get us started about scientologists!! L. Ron Hubbard made that religion up!! What a cult!!' Lol.

Ok. The 'Good Samaritan'...he helped someone he didn't know lying by the side of the road. What would your mother say... 'Oh but my daughter left Jehovah!!'...yeah the Samaritan wasn't the same religion either! Deep seated religious division there...and she's your DAUGHTER. but oh yeah, what did Jesus say would happen to some? They would have no natural affection...
hey stupid witness parents...Imitate Jesus. Actually religion has nothing to do with it. Be a FREAKING PARENT.

She's adorable!
She asked specifically for scriptures in her letter. It's all she wanted. They offered none.

Chalk it up to slim pickings. And women being into themselves, and loving the attention. Attractiveness is about the only thing you've got going for you, as a female witness. It's their only source of power, the only thing they have control of. Marry young and the best you can get before it's too late. If the guy is sweet and attentive and the girl doesn't see anything better on the horizon, he's the one.
