I thought it was the stupidest thing they could do. Book studies were the only way people ever really got close to other people. If you talk to people at the kingdom Hall, it was most likely people who were in your book study or had once been in your book study. What do people do now?? They leave easier than they used to!! Cuz they aren't getting as close to other people! Less familial feelings, less pressure to stay if there are fewer that you really care about.I agree the Isaiah books were simply hell. 1919. 1919. 1919. Thought i was gonna scream. With most books, it was drudgery for sure and the best part was when bookstudy was OVER but when it was over it was nice. -

If you don't reveal where you live and alter facts about yourself a little bit and use an alias, no one will know who you are. And don't worry, it doesn't mean disloyalty to Jehovah if you comment here. It means you need to talk to someone. -

A Teenager Ran Away From Home to Get Away From the Witnesses ... in 1909
by Wild_Thing inokay .... i guess technically they weren't witnesses yet; they were just russellites.
but i still think it is funny that teenagers were heading for the hills to run away from their nonsense ... even back then!.

As I said in another thread, I like to spend my Saturday mornings lazy in bed whenever I can. They invented Saturday mornings for a reason, and nobody should have the power too take them away from us and how we choose to spend them!!
Turn that FOG into a new sort of FOG.......FREEDOM, OPPORTUNITY, GLEE. :) -

New drivers are dangerous!! Think they know everything but they know almost nothing. I'm so sorry this happened to you. If you have a physical job, you better plan on taking a nice long break from work so that you can heal completely. And I'm sorry about your bike, too. Hopefully insurance will take care of her and she'll be like brand new again. -

Hello Everybody
by Thomas the Bill Engine ini didn't see an introduction forum anywhere but i thought it would be weird to start posting without first introducing myself so, here we are.
i'm 15, and i've been looking for a place to discuss my thoughts on the religion that i'm pretty much stuck in at the moment.
my mom and dad divorced over their different beliefs over a year ago (my mom is jw and my dad is an very knowledgeable apostate, so you can see how they would fight over it), and since then i've stopped believing altogether.. just thought i'd say hello.

We definitely understand. We may disagree about many things and have different ideas about everything, but one thing we see eye to eye on: we know what it was like to be in that religion. And a lot of us are still struggling with how to get out if it. -

New "most frustratingly addictive game ever" to play - agar.io
by Simon inone of my kids got me hooked on this.
it's incredibly simple but also kind of fun and addictive.. you start as a small cell and need to eat things to grow.
that's pretty much the game.. of course as you get bigger you can eat smaller cells too ... and bigger ones can eat you.. as you get bigger you get slower but you can "eject mass" to shrink and speed you up (w key).

I hate that game, I hate getting devoured. For me it was too frustrating. Right now I'm addicted to Two Dots. -

Saturday Let the Games Begin
by Poztate inthe start of a new memorial season is upon us.
saturday is the day for the start of the invites to look but not touch the bread and wine.
the "observer class" is a belief unique to jehovah's witnesses.. along with the invite to the masses a special effort is being made this year by the elders to invite all the df's, da's and faders.. along with the invite a copy of the rtj will be left with them.. naturally we will still be treated as pariah's if we do attend but it is the thought that counts.. i am of the "fader class" as i don't wish to rock the boat with my wife and extended family.

Got invited last year. It was miserable. Lovely sisters I used to know knocked at my front door. I hid. Then they knocked at my back door! I still hid. My husband had our dead Christmas tree he had been meaning to mulch for MONTHS out there. It was so obviously a Christmas tree! And there they were. And, I had to go to work, desperately, right THEN, or I would be late. I waited. One minute. Two minutes. Maybe they were gone? I ran out the door, and ran into them just as they started knocking on my GARAGE Door. Seriously?? Very awkward moment. I told them I had to go to work and thanked them for the memorial invitation. I tried to block the Christmas tree from their vision with my body, even tho it was of course too late. The sister left her contact info on a post it note. I later emailed her and told her thank you but I've moved on.
And I get to look forward to this again this year??? At least my husband has already mulched the Christmas tree this time :\.
