Welcome y'all from JWR - any questions?
by Simon ini just wanted to take a minute to say "hi" and welcome to the site for anyone who's come here from jwr.
i can imagine the site being shut down suddenly was shocking and unsettling for many who relied on it and sometimes you don't realize how much you do rely on something until it is gone.. hopefully you'll see some of the same familiar names appearing and be able to reconnect with people you knew via this site and continue your journey together.
i don't know what the posting policies on jwr were but know it as a moderated site so can't imagine them being hugely different to the ones here.

Introduction - Any Believers?
by Believer ini’ve been reading it for a few of years off and on, but have been a little too ... maybe ... timid to join.
i left the watchtower organization almost 20 years ago but never abandoned my faith and belief in god.
i knew the gb/organization didn’t represent god, so when i lost my faith in them, i managed to keep my faith in an all wise benevolent creator.

I am a liberal Christian evolutionist church goer. I believe, because waking from the witness daze, I fell for Christ.

I think as long as we have close family in the cult, whom we love and miss, we need sites like this one. It saddens me that a site similar has fallen. But welcome to you and everyone else coming over. You are among friends here :).

First exchange in years about JW religion with my wife...
by NVR2L8 intoday my wife showed me the new medical directive and power of attorney form she got at the meeting.
surprisingly she asked if i wanted to fill mine!
i have been inactive for 6 years and i don't go close to any jw gatherings because i don't want friends who only care for me unless i share their beliefs.

Terry the point behind your argument is so simple and one I am astonished that millions of witnesses don't think of for themselves: How can life itself be less sacred than the SYMBOL of life? You respect blood because it is the symbol of sacred life. If blood can be used to preserve life, that is showing it the most respect you can show it.
And if you let someone die because you didn't use blood to save them, you are freaking bloodguilty! WTBTS, you are bloodguilty. You can never see the forest for the trees, can you?

Wikipedia was huge for me, too. I read about my religion from an outside source and it wasn't an apostate site. I read about the history of doctrines like the cross and the trinity. When I knew I wanted out and wanted to still worship God, I read about the differences between all the protestant religions and it helped me choose which one fit closest to what I believed. Wikipedia is awesome and I financially contribute to it because I'm thankful it exists!

JWs exist because...
by oldskool inone sentence answers only.. here's mine:.
jws exist because people want an escape from the modern world and are willing to give up intellectual freedom to get it..

Because some people like to feel like they are more special and more righteous than others, and like they have all the answers.

In the paradise JWs will have a standard uniform
by RodrigoGuerreiro inanyone else notice this on the last video of the regional convention 2016?.
frame stills:.
conclusion: it seems that the paradise will not be only the end of wickedness but also the end of the jws typical cheap polyester suits :-p.

I get a weird new agey vibe from those pics.
I know their motive is manipulation and playing on the emotions. But you know what? These videos say one thing: HEY EVERYONE WE ARE A CRAZY CULT!

Cha ching, those are good points. Often the extremism is what causes people to drift further away instead of toward them. At an important time for us, me and my husband heard the 'no one can really love you unless they also love Jehovah' drama, and it pissed us off, because a family member who wasn't a witness had recently died, and he would have ripped his own heart out for us. It was like, my God! They are so manipulative and blatant liars, just because they want to hold onto their control!!
Maybe that will happen for James's daughter too!

Oh my God!!! She might even wake up....They ALL might wake up!! (With time, as problem addict said...and not the way you might imagine...) As your daughter said...everything is NOT all black and white. Realizing that is the first step to waking up, isn't it??!? Just hope the Regional Convention doesnt mess with their heads!!
(Side note...do you think they don't say District anymore because of Hunger Games?)
