the advice to reduce work and earn less to spend more time preaching has not aged well.. the cost of living crisis means many have more going out on necessities than they have coming in.. so many asked their employer to reduce their hours and refused promotion only to see their colleagues go up the ladder when they stayed lowly position with rubbish jobs thinking the end will be here soon.

next week midweek meeting is all about preparing for an economic crisis.. they say have a go bag and new advice for all jws to store food and water at home and grow a vegetable garden, i kid you not.

“some adult JWs are expecting other Witnesses to look after their elderly parents there.“

that is absolutely what is happening. These older ones want to go to the convention all three days but need full time care.

The adult children should either pay for professional careers or do it themselves not take advantage of kind souls in the congregation.

one old sister who wants to come on the ministry and get to all the meeting’s because she is bored and lonely at home is proving to be a huge burden on the congregation.

her daughter and son in law who for some reason don’t lift a finger helping her say someone has to start getting her ready an hour before then she needs constant care and giving her lifts everywhere.

they have the cheek to ask the elders how is mum getting there and who is assisting her? The elders should say back to them “what have you got planned?” What have the family arranged.

it’s a let peave of mine.

there are lovely but gullible ones in the congregation who are struggling themselves and I feel they are being taken advantage of

It’s true that when someone is asked to leave Bethel there is always a local needs to about what it was why they left.

I remember one brother left and next family watchtower there was a local needs about master nation for example.

yes there were lots of mention of alcohol after Tony was kicked out.

I am amazed that still nothing has leaked about where he is now, is he still a brother did he take the emblems?

they are really keeping a tight ship perhaps even those close to the situation don’t know and it’s only the remaining members of the GB who know and they don’t even tell their wives?

It seems to me that struggling JWs now have this entitlement mentality that someone else should pay for their convention expenses and they are entitled to be picked up and taken home for meetings and ministry.

They think they sacrificed so much for JWdom and this is the reason they can’t afford the basics and are struggling to pay rent and bills. Nothing to do with them following advice to not get educated and just get shitty part time cleaning jobs so they can spend countless hours free labour knocking doors for the governing body.

some of these older ones simply say “how will I be getting there? Who will be taking me home, I want to call in to this or that place first”

they genuinely think they are entitled and they just expect others to pay for them and do things for them.

don’t get me wrong it’s wonderful to help older ones if they are appreciative and if they have nobody else. But often these older ones expecting others to pay for them have grown up children who are moaning that the congregation is not looking after their parents well enough

There is also a big problem these days with the disaster relief plans.

the branch use free labour from volunteers to do the work and then the branch gets the insurance money, it’s a big money spinner

the problem is often the brothers who’s homes were damaged were much more wealthy than those they are volunteering to help. They fix up these homes for free then go back to a cheap little rental and must be wondering this doesn’t seem right?

There are some young brothers who have no trades they are just cleaning and cutting grass

they are struggling as much as anybody

some older elders and pioneers are also struggling and these young brothers were asked to help them by the body of elders

which really meant free labour

This elderly couple have adult children in the truth but they are so ‘busy’ they ask the parents congregation to look after them.

the elders just ask these brothers to cut the grass, fix the gutters and clean for them. No money as everyone is broke from following direction.

I feel these young brothers are being taken advantage of and the real adult children should be paying them or at least doing it themselves. But of course they are simply too ‘busy’

this older couple can hardly walk to the bathroom these days but want to go to the convention. They are asking for special parking tickets but they can’t afford a car. The adult children should take them but no they are saying the congregation must take them and pay for them and look after them all three days

there are TOO MANY needy Witnesses in one place. This is the end result of pursuing poverty for DECADES when they should have been holding down decent jobs instead.

good point, the congregations of JWs are now full on uneducated unqualified min wage part time workers who were told not to pursue higher education or well paid careers.

there is a concentration of low paid, renters who never bought a property or never paid into a pension because they were told the end would be here before they retired.

No wonder they are reducing pioneer hour requirements, but it’s too little too late.

There are so many approaching their later years that are now suddenly starting to panic, they spent the majority of their life in service for WTower and never gave a second thought about preparing for their later years.

Will the branch do anything to help the needy ones? Yes they will tell the congregations to help them while they carry in asking for more funds to build the expensive Hollywood studios

It’s already starting in congregations here in the UK.

Some haven’t paid their utilities and rents in such a long time.

To start with some slightly wealthier older ones give a couple of hundred pounds in an envelope but it’s for food for the kids.

the problem was always that the direction was to work less hours and shitty jobs at that.

now the world is facing something similar to a modern version of the Great Depression

the congregations will be really struggling as the banking system continues to collapse.
