How the Borg could increase meeting attendance numbers
by Sour Grapes ini think that the 8 popes should allow the jdubs to count time driving to the meetings or even count their time being at the meetings.
those who just listen over the phone can't count their time.. it would be a much better religious cult if the 8 self-licking ice cream popes would let their followers count their time for helping the elderly in the kingdumb haul with stopping by to have coffee, shopping, cleaning, cutting grass, etc.
let them count time by visiting the friends in nursing homes, maybe even allow double the hours for the nursing home visits.. this probably ain't going to happen because the cart work is easier..

In my opinion, if they were to survive, yes. If everyone is spending more and more time on the internet because its readily accessible, they can steer one to use devices to be able to go to jworg so the GB, Elders can say that their is no excuse not not spend time on the site while wasting ones time looking on the internet. Plenty of jws had social media profiles before jworg got going. Try as they may, they couldn't stop it.

i saw in the 80s kids parents get talked to because of the kids having one or pjs with smurfs on them but other than the urban meme where did this come from?

alanv-The main change in recent years in JW land is for members to stop trying to defend their faith by themselves, but rather to point people to the jw website.
I remember when this type of thing would be cause for someone to be 'spiritually weak'. Now its the norm.So easy to search your spiritual 'symptom' - 'question' into the search bar on the site and get an answer that "tickles the ears".
The absolute sheer irony. And quite the flip.
Smartphones have already changed the world we live in. jw,jew,movie star, politics, kids, teens, colleges, lawyers, ect ect ect......
It has been and continues to be an unstoppable force. The GB simply had to no choice but to modify to fit in with the new technology. Seems they've always liked to stay on the fringes of modern with out being "modern". This was/is to big a global shift.
I guess in paradise selfies will be real popular as everyone grows younger "New videos on jworg about this and that one growing younger". "Submit your 'growing younger' process to jworg and be featured in the '1000 year Reign Times". I think smartphones for jws probably cause a paradoxical mixture of guilt and another cognitive dissonance item in the bag.

Wild_thing -My other friends in congregation were not so lucky. Several of them were forced to get rid of every trace of Smurf toys in their house. After stories circulated about Smurfs walking in to Kingdom Halls, and one about a Smurf keychain standing up and talking, one little kid in our congregation said his stuffed Smurf toy talked to her (or so the mother said). So, out the Smurf toy went, and the frenzy continued among the JW radicals.
I was one of those in the not so lucky 'jw Smurf paranoiac radical frenzy' households. But literally everything was considered demonic. Thats so traumatizing to a child and confusing, the way it played out in some jw homes. Nothing short of psychotic.
I had no toys. LOL.
When my son was little I spoiled him and bought him tons and tons of toys . I probably went overboard. I wanted to be the cool jw parent back then.
