  It must really please the 'loving god' jehober to see all the turmoil and panic among his earthly children just so jw's can have something to write about!

  I keep noticing that they(GB) never say great tribulation has begun. They dance all around it. Unless that has just changed?

  How could someone worship a god that creates "children" and then punishes them for "crimes" they never committed. What a and sick twisted god/father that would be.

  Let me guess. When Trump closes borders on a Tuesday, it's racist. When Trudeau closes them on the Wednesday it's all "amazing" foreign policy?

  Expect some serious decoupling, the US should become an industrial powerhouse and obliterate their economy.

  It seems you couldn't be more correct about the Trump- Trudeau analysis.

  The us should become an industrial power house. Not sure why this hasn't happened yet since America is energy independent. And has been , I might add, for decades. Unfortunately Americas are not independent on trade and goods. Yes I know , greed from corporations outsourcing jobs @ 2$ an hour vs what ever the pay to bring back industry to ones own country. If those CEOs could manage to live off of a 100,000,000 bonus instead of a 250,000,000 bonus. They might have to only have 5 Ferrari's instead of 10.( over generalization, but just making a point)

  This global pandemic hopefully will wake up all countries to take major proactive steps to become more independent.

  Trade is one thing. Being dependent on another country for basic needs is crazy.

  How was it possible that some members fall asleep or nod off during meetings?

  a while back, we had a saturday wedding reception for a brother and sister from our kingdom hall.

  the reception ended at midnight.

  most of us got home at around 1:00 a.m. our sunday public talk meeting started at 9:30 a.m. .

  Funny thing is that the experienced ones could still follow the direction to look up scriptures ,correctly, while fast asleep! I have never understood that.

  I was one of those. LOL.

  Or when during the announcements the speaking Bro would ask the Treasurer about something to make a point in his update to the congregation and the Treasurer was asleep. While everyone stared and giggled.

  Rebel8-We were to memorize phone numbers and addresses of nearby dubs, change clothes on the way as a disguise, lie to officials, etc.

  I remember when I was little the congregations were told to write jws info on construction paper and pencil so it could be disposed of quickly if , I mean "when" they came after gods people. To help "save the brothers". Looking back, how was it that jeho couldn't just do that part. Its always pushed back on the r&f. They will do everything now but say "its the great tribulation". Then when the members think that way during a crisis, they don't stop that thinking. Then after a crisis is over they (the gb) make the members feel like idiots with there double speak and back stepping.

  Yes I cant see how this will not cost them in a major way this time.

  However right now,for the moment, I imagine their faith is stronger than ever. It will be interesting to see what happens.

  I'm pretty sure this is how a conversation with them would go in regards me: If I were calling my great aunt that raised me. She's a mean old bitch.

  Me: Hi xxx, I just wanted to call and see if you are ok?

  Her: We are in the Great Tribulation right now and Armageddon is imminent. You should have came back when you had a chance. Now your going to die and you deserve it.

  Me: I just wanted to see if you were ok?

  Her: I cant talk to you, you are full of Satan that god will destroy. Click!

  Sigh. And because I've gone thru that scenario with her when the 08' recession began the follow up conversation "to be one of our last" was like this:

  Me: Hi xxx, just calling to see how you are doing?

  Her: I don't understand why you don't just turn back to jehovah? I'm so lonely. No one ever checks on me at the KH when I'm sick. (realizing what she just said) I'm sorry but I cant talk to you until you turn back to jehovah.

  Me: I'm going back to the meetings.

  Her: Oh Really? (excited)! ( catches herself) Well you probably will die at Armageddon anyway.

  Me: How can you say that, you are not jehovah?

  Her: You are so spiritually weak right now and its not safe to talk to you.

  Me: Okay, well are you doing ok?

  Her: I don't wish to talk to you, you abandoned me. (she starts crying)

  Me: No I didn't, I used to beg you to come over and see my me and my son. You never came. Yet I still kept calling and visited you.& That was before I got dfd.

  Her: (crying) I'm so sorry for the way I treated you. I'm so sorry. (Balling at this point) I didnt know how to act when you were molested. He has really changed. But I still hate him. What if jehovah wont forgive me for hating him.

  Me: Its ok xxx, I still love you.

  ( suddenly and most violently she shifts her tone)

  Her: You are just full of Satan. I've got to go!. Click!

  And I just broke down while writing that crap. That scenario I wrote played out over and over again until I had enough. Sorry if this was way out of place... it just came out

  I went on an typed it because I was thinking of calling her just because I'm a human and shit. But I needed this reminder so I don't put myself in an unhealthy emotional bind.

  So trying to go back to the topic. Damn they sure have some f'up responses to things. So I can only imagine how horrifying this is for them. Especially the ones like my great aunt.

  Covid-19 (Coronavirus) - Status Update Thread

  this topic is to focus on status updates & advice (no opinion or politics please).. status.

  latest status is that it's serious, probably isn't going to be contained and most large companies are making contingency plans, cancelling large events etc... which i don't think would happen if it was just people being alarmist.

  the incubation period means it may have already spread further and infected many more people than are currently known, so expect jumps in the numbers over the coming days and weeks.. tracking.

  Stores were getting rather empty today. I don't think I saw anyone smiling. Meat is just about wiped out in this town and neighboring towns. No Tp left. But a decent amount of napkins and paper towels still.

  The big bread store in town that usually gives away bread they have so much, just sold the last of their bread. Potatoes are gone. Pasta is near gone.

  This is not pretty. Everyone, I literally mean everyone I spoke with today said that they are ready to fight, with guns and whatever means necessary. The general vibe is switching to "we are not going to sit back and take it".

  This is starting to make the recession of 2008 look like a child's play.

  Near 1/3 of Americans lost their job over night? How can this possibly turn out well. The air is thick with panic.

  they interviewed a woman who had seen two elderly people crying in their car. The lady went over and asked them what was wrong. They said they were too scared to go into the store due to the virus. The lady did their shopping for them. Yes! The elderly are suffering and it will only get worse

  This is what I have been worried about. The elderly in this particular predicament.

  I sent a text out to my elderly clients that if they need anything from the store to let me know and I will drop it off at there front door. Two clients already took me up on that offer. They taped the list the on front door and I went and picked it up, sprayed it with Lysol and set it in front of their door and texted saying it was there.

  Plan on calling the Senior Center Monday to offer myself as available should anyone need this kind of help. I want to help in some way however small. If I can.

  The real Dracula?

  i'm a bit of a horror fan - i love horror movies and the novel dracula by bram stoker is a pretty good read - especially the first four chapters, with jonathan harker being in dracula's castle.. i've heard before that stoker based count dracula on a 15th century voivod (prince) of wallachia who went down in history as vlad the impaler - apparently, he was extremely barbaric and cruel, as his name suggests.. vlad's father was also called vlad.

  daddy vlad was apparently part of an order of crusader knights, the order of the dragon.

  this order was formed to protect christian europe against muslim ottomans/turks.

  The impaling did happen. I was referring to the obvious vampire stuff. I just worded it loosely so I don't spoil the book you said you were reading.

  After all I've read about Vlad, I join the many others that view him as a hero of sorts. But that's my opinion. Just another opinion to be analyzed to death and or dismissed.

  I still think the movie was good. But I'm also probably just old, dried up and out of touch with the way movies are done now.
