Agree with krismalone
But he still has human rights or do they only apply to JWs when they put in prison or preaching work is banned.
well known norway elder and watchtower doctrine apologist, (rolf furuli) was disfellowshipped a few days ago for the crime of expressing opinions contrary to some watchtower dictates.. like wt leadership in the past, they have no problem eating their own..

interestingly, just this week—on monday 29 june, 2020—the british house of commons amended their pending domestic abuse bill to include parental alienation as a form of child abuse, even calling it “psychological manipulation.”.
the bill is very much in the process and will no doubt go through more revisions before it reaches its final form.
you can read more about that process in relation to this bill here: .

Not seen my adult kids for over a year because of the physiological manipulation of a narcissistic wife so probably because they are adults it will not apply to me
As a survivor of domestic abuse it still fills it's continuing because of the lies she has told my kids (one of them wanted to beat me up because of what she told him) and them blocking any contact with me at present ,hope things will improve over time.
all my jw life i was reminded constantly about the importance of not bringing reproach on jehovah's name.
decisions on whether or not to disfellowship an individual often turned, not on the seriousness of the sin, but on whether the incident was public knowledge and had resulted in bad publicity for the congregation.
i recall a middle-aged lady being reported to the elders for shoplifting a sweet worth less than £1- and the elders' insistence that a judicial committee must be formed because the store manager and staff knew that she was a jw (i successfully argued that all she needed was support for her dreadful family life, but that's another story).
Excellent point crofty
If the org did apologize to the victims and survivors in Australia , would that also mean they would have to review the disfellowshiping of the victims, and those who reported the abuse to the authorities and anyone who was stumbled by the lack of the elders involving the authorities in these horrendous crimes.
Then the org would then have to include the whole association of brothers in the apologies regarding the treatment and
the disfellowshiping and shunning of the victims and others affected by the lack of reporting these crimes to me authorities .

i will try to post a link.. jtg.. australia.. institutions refusing to join the national redress scheme are "doubling down" on the crime of child sexual abuse, prime minister scott morrison says.. mr morrison and social services minister anne ruston have warned institutions they may lose funding and tax concessions if they fail to sign up by tuesday's deadline and will be named and shamed.. "all institutions are doing in not joining is doubling down on the crime and doubling down on the hurt," they said in a letter to 25 institutions.. "we consider it to be reprehensible that you have failed to sign up to the scheme.".
the jehovah's witnesses is among the organisations that has refused to sign up, arguing it does not have the institutional settings of other faith-based institutions that the redress scheme is designed to cover.. senator ruston is set to name the non-participating institutions on wednesday, when she will announce what action the federal government will take against them.. "we urge you to join the scheme not because of concerns about being identified, but because it is the right thing to do," the minister and mr morrison said.. "it is the right thing to do by survivors and their families and it is what every, decent, honest, australian demands.".
Thanks for the update
i am addressing here those who, like me, spent decades in the organisation that we called “the truth”.
perhaps like me you were brought up in it from an early age.
looking back now i wonder that i could have been so heartless as to believe that the mass slaughter of billions of people was “good news”.
Because we are or were in a abusive religion that we were manipulated to believe had our best interest at heart ( everlasting future etc) with constant control meeting , assembly's , shepherding etc ,we almost stopped thinking for ourselves and manipulated to share it with others that JWs were chosen by god to share the good news and then could not fully understand why people could not see it also , so they were not worthy of the benefits of the kingdom.
It's like why do people stay in a abusive relationship ,why don't they just leave , even though they feel or know something isn't right because their abuser has manipulated and controlled them that they know what best for them and they have their best interest at heart.

Agree with crofty the money is important but what is more important is saying sorry because that would mean acknowledging that the inspired word of god is wrong regarding the two witness rule and the damage and harm it caused innocent children etc ,more important than that is the faithful slave would have to accept that they promoted a harmful policy.
Thoughts to the survivors must be a really difficult time for them and their families ,must fill like the abuse is continuing.
.
just wanted to put this out there for any lurkers.. as someone that grew up during the 70s and 80s, we were promised that we would be in the first picture long ago.
if you are still on the fence, please let this sink in for a while..
Born in the 60s I was never to go to school then Finnish high school, get a job get married and have my own family in this system .
Now my father who was baptized in the mid 60s was not supposed to grow old and die unless by unforseen circumstances eg accident or illness , passed away recently, mention it to my witness family , the answer was we don't know the day or the hour of the new system.
Broken promises No outright lies.

good to see the caring brothers help establish depth of guilt..
I take that Robbie dad's not an elder , would have been taken of microphone's for six months .
i love rhythm and blues and soul music.
i love funk but i also enjoy music of the 60s and 70s.
just not really into classical or country western although some country is pretty good..
They're a band beyond description
Like Jehovah's favorite choir
People joining hand in hand while
The music played the band
Lord they're setting us on fire
The music never stops ,the grateful dead.
tonight there was an 8 minute segment allocated to reporting on jws regarding child abuse and the redress scheme.
it was presented by lisa wilkinson for the project.the australian branch has issued a statement to the show advising that they will not be joining the scheme.. they state:.
statement from the jehovah’s witnessesthe religion of jehovah’s witnesses does not have the institutional settings that the voluntary national redress scheme is designed to cover.therefore, the ministry for families and social services has been advised that jehovah’s witnesses will not join the scheme.jehovah’s witnesses have responded and will continue to respond directly to individual claims for redress in a caring, fair, and principled manner, taking into consideration the unique circumstances of each claim.. https://10play.com.au/theproject/articles/statement-from-the-jehovahs-witnesses/tpa200621ycelq.
What does it mean for the org and k/halls when they lose the charity status ?
