I am in the process of putting together a small local paper in my area. We are going to print this coming week, but since it's our first edition, we have a limited amount of advertisers. This leaves alot of space that needs to be filled. The AP won't give us a membership until we have a local reporter (which we don't really intend to have, although we do have local columnists), so we thought perhaps reprinting old news might be kind of cool, an "On this day in ____" kind of thing. The paper itself is more of a shopper type deal, like a pennysaver type magazine, but we want some content to give the readers a reason to read (makes sense right?). Anyway, my question is directed to anyone that might know about copyright law. I know there are alot of people out there reprinting old newspapers, but I need to make sure I do this correctly and legally, if it can be done (legally). I believe there's a time period where copyright no longer is applicable, but for the life of me I can't seem to find the laws on this. If anyone can help me (ASAP) I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks! Rev

This name would also instantly brand the website as being apostate. I know it's a clever use of words, but it will do nothing to encourage active JWs to look at the site.
------------
The web address wasn't intended to necessarily appeal to JW's, but my reply on that would be that there are most likely many more non-jws looking for information to present to their JW friends and family than there are JWs looking for 'dirt' on their own religion. And those that ARE JW, should they stumble on a site that IS apostate, are either going to stay and read, or leave immediately no matter what the domain name is.
Simply from the content in the search engines they'll know if it's JW or ex-JW content (most times). And frankly, I'm not interested in 'fooling' people into leaving their religion, I could care less if they all sit and rot in Watchtower world. If they have doubts, they'll come and look for it no matter where they can find it. Once they cross that line, it's all uphill from there.
so, when I purchased the domain last year, I wasn't really looking to appeal to these people (JWs). Frankly I could care less what the hell they think I am :)
With that being said, my offer to host a site for free for this cause would not require that non-prophet.com carry a link to that particular site (or any site for that matter if the site owner didn't want such a link). So, if you guys need hosting for this thing, someone should email me about it and I can set you up.

Child Abuse not grounds for divorce
by RevMalk ini've read, and heard that sexual child abuse is not grounds for divorce according to the watchtower.
can anyone help me in finding documented proof to that effect?
(or even not so documented is a start).

see, that's the stuff I'm talking about. The problem is, keeping track of what's currently 'lit' and what's not can give a guy a migraine!

So, I guess what I'm talking from this is that if your child is molested and there is evidence of intercourse, you're far better of in receiving 'permission' to divorce....
if not, you can always hope for a lenient body of Elders....
interesting.....

Singing Man, the questions aren't for the purpose of getting a divorce, nor has my child been molested, but thanks for your vote of confidence anyway!

If there was no actually intercourse - I believe a lot of elders would hardline and say no scriptural divorce. If there was intercourse, but couldn't be proven to be the mate, same.
This is actually more along the lines of what I was getting at. I should have spent more time to outline my request.
But again, I guess what we're looking at is a vague area, and most likely there is nothing in print.
I've heard and read several accounts where this actually occurred, according to those involved.
This brings up a thought though. If a person committed what they call loose conduct with another willing adult other than their spouse, but it didn't involve intercourse, would the innocent spouse have grounds for divorce? Because if not, then the case would theoretically be the same in a similar child molestation case, would it not?
And if so, does anyone know where I can gather printed info in that case?
