The so called "Special Talk" is not special, it's just another talk at the same time and same place that a public talk. Don't know why they're keeping this, it's one of those JW's traditions nobody can understand.

Growing up JW kid: do you recognize
by Gorbatchov inborn in 1970, 4th generation jw and parents who were loyal to but could also think on their own.. my father always said, the show goes on, so he had a respectable community job, advisor of the city counsel of the town.
and buying ald building houses for us.
we were on the move.. what i remember is the many conversations at home about the other witnesses.

Hi Gorbatchov,
Yes, I do. I could see in other young witnesses in the area and it was hard for me to understand. I really believed in all the doctrines so I was astonished by the apparent lack of faith of other young JWs. I was trying to do my best and was the "model young JW". I was at the conventions being used as an example to others, I was interviewed many times and always doing what the publications and elders said.
Finally I moved to a foreign-language congregation where all youngs were so uber-spiritual like I was.
It was just one thing that I couldn't stomach and always had doubts about: why couldn't we go to uni? What was wrong about it? I went to uni at time and tried to be even more zealous in other areas to balance that.
I would have liked to be one of them. I wouldn't have lost so much time in worshipping the WT: they never pioneered, they never did so much effort. I should have done the same!

Thanks Hecce!
I'll check those two boards later.
The blog seems quite impressive, there's a lot of information there! There's even information about the Ajalvir Branch here in Spain.

Is it possible to decline preaching in the carts?
by Skepsis inhi folks,.
i have a difficult dilemma.
since i'm not pioneering any more, i'm reducing my hours wasted at that artifact known as cart or trolley.

@dubstepped:
Well, it would have been too much at once. I will be doing less and preaching less. In fact, some of them spoke with me during last weeks because they're worried I'm going to lose some meetings for work and they need me to do talks and tasks in the congregation.
Don't know what will happen but I'm thinking in stepping down this year.

My mother tongue is Spanish, if needed I could help to translate it. I'm a bit busy with many things right now but I could be of some help.
I'd also like to know what happened to the EXTJ forum in Spanish. It was the first website when I found the TTATT last year but then was closed. Is there now a board similar to this in Spanish?
Thanks!

Single Sisters Over A Certain Age Group Getting A Bad Rap
by HiddlesWife ini'm new here; one of my relatives was a member on this forum a few years ago and told me about it.
anyways, as a sister who has been in the org since childhood and now in her late 40's (plus as a woman of color), i have noticed that a number of brothers have an ageist attitude.
they are very accepting of young women under 26 and rejecting women over that age, particularly those in their 30's and over.. is this an unspoken mindset from wthq (specifically from bethel), or is it that quite a number of males (sorry, i'm not sexist here) have this type of mentality?

Quite interesting thread.
I think for both women and men is hard to find a partner inside the WT. In many areas the number of available men and women is reduced. Sometimes there's no one you really feel compatible with.
The fact that there are more over-30 single women than men is not that men has it easier to find a partner but that if men are still single at that age, many quit the religion and find outside instead of keep waiting. Women tend to get attached to the religion despite they are unhappy.
And why? Well, I think men at 30 have been living how the WT really is if they have served as MS or elders. Yes, the WT has a patriarchal structure where it's more important to be a man than to have a brain to get appointed but it also means that all the work and responsibilities are assigned to men and in that way it's easier for men to find out the TTATT about the religion.
Regarding age, I'm almost 30 and since I broke up with my exgirlfriend, elders have been insisting on me that it's not so bad to be single for your whole life and it can help you to serve Jehovah better. Of course I'm not searching for a partner inside the Organisation but if I were, it would be very hard and elders know it.
Add to the fact that there is a limited number of possible partners, that it's not encouraged to get alone with someone to speak with him/her and know that person and it becomes very difficult to date if you're an adult. I heard of a brother and a sister in their 30s being admonished by the elders because they were having a coffee alone! That environment is so insane! Are you supposed to be in your 30s and need someone to supervise you?
It's another sad situation created by the WT.

So, any comments from the Memorial?
by NewYork44M inperhaps i missed the comments, but i did not see a lot of comments from, or about, the memorial.
it happened last night, right?.
in years past the jwn board was hot with comments.

I think each year the Memorial is less important for the Organisation. Brothers were apathetic. I'm included in some Whatsapp groups of brothers and they tried to follow the Biblical reading daily and to share the points in the group and almost no one took part.

Memorial
by Gorbatchov inwhat i noticed during the memorial is the over organised ritual aspect.
for a non jw is must be hard to follow.. for me, i noticed that during the memorial there is no attention for the historical jesus and the historical events.
it's all about the kingdom arrangement with it's central point, the governing body of jw.. do you noticed this also?.

Nothing special about the Memorial this year. It's the first time I go after knowing the TTATT and I must say listening to all the 144,000 stuff is so bizarre that I could only ask myself how I was able to believe all that nonsense.

Life is changing for me: no pioneering, got a job!
by Skepsis ina month ago i decided to register in this board.
i had decided to step down pioneering but was frightened about the consequences.
i had finished my university degree some months before (despite disaproval from brothers in my congregation) and i had to choose: continue pioneering and working in jobs with no future or starting a career, working full-time.. i was thinking to postpone the decisiton but... i was fed up with preaching.

A quick update to this thread.
Now I'm not assigned to conduct any meeting for field circus for "being too busy". I'm not stepping down as MS for now, but I'm losing some meetings without their permission. This week I'm not attending to the two meetings (got too much stressed yesterday with the Memorial), next month I'll have a free whole week abroad for working reasons and a wedding another weekend.
I'm not giving any reason and I'm not asking for permission, just notifying as a fact.
Let's see what happens.

Was it just me or was something different about the memorial last night?
by kpop inthis was the first memorial that i declined to do any work for the memorial.
i was assigned as a parking attendant after getting downgraded from doing the sound and had no intention of doing either task but i had to attend for my family and continuation of my fade.
i sat there last night listening to the talk and couldn't help but shake my head as my brain attempted to process the bs.

I can only say what happened in my congregation.
Firstly, the campaing to deliver the invitations didn't cover all the territories so many 25%-30% of the invitations are stocked in the Hall and a lot of brothers said they haven't delivered all the invitations they got. This is happening in a foreign language congregation where there are bible studies. Elders are so worried that the Service Overseer insisted me yestarday to fake the numbers in the books to appear as all the territories have been taken by the brothers during the campaing and not to receive a complain by the CO during his visit next week.
And then, the spirit of the celebration was very grey. We had a visit from abroad of a couple that used to be in the congregation serving for years and no one wanted to have dinner after. Brothers were as in the rest of meetings during the year, nothing special.
