  Who will go to heaven?

  i know that jw's say only 144,000. however, i just read a book called "as time runs out" by robert jeffress and he claims that all christians who have received jesus will be picked up at the rapture.

  but, he says, we will not all have the same rank in heaven.

  he claims that different responsibilities will be assigned.

  Where do you draw the line?

  Flaming words in the sky that can be seen at all times and be understood by all people of all lands and languages. Ever heard the phrase "Spectacular claims require even more spectacular proof?" If you're trying to say a book (any book) is here because some supreme being made it be here its your duty to supply the proof behind it, not the opposers duty to try to prove its not. Besides, if the message of the bible is oh so important why would this oh so wise god being make it so hard to understand? Dangerous equipment is labeled very clearly "Don't touch here." That's on stuff that could just cause some minor physical harm. They make it nice and clear and easy to understand because its important. If god had an even more important message to get out to all of mankind why wouldn't he do the same thing?
  Can you prove that piece of paper on my table isn't written by god? How long its been around isn't important. Using your logic the bible was unimportant when it was written. At what point did it become important? Even more important that all of it though, when are you going to send me all your money like it says on the paper on my table. Its got all the wonderful scientific and prophetic truths that the bible does. You had better send me the money soon or else you'll have to endure everything that my friend dreamed last night after eating some funky mexican food. This paper will be around for thousands of years because it also says its written by god. How can you not believe a paper that says right on it its inspired?
  Do a little research. One of the biggest reasons why the bible has been so translated and held in high regard for so long is power. People point to a book and say "Hey, its not me that's keeping you down, god wants me to!" Of course they'd try to keep that book around as much as they possibly could. Why else would you need to keep it going? Its obvious whose benefit it would be to keep it going.

  Wow, I didn't realize I was dealing with some snotty french resteraunt guy. That does explain a lot. I just got back from lunch with my friend Ken. Know what I had? Grilled cheese with chips and a glass of milk. I used to work at the biggest bank in town and executive VP took me out to lunch for saving the company a few thousand dollars with a project I worked on. Could have gone anywhere in town because it was my choice. I had the same lunch I had today. Why? It tastes good and you don't have to deal with snotty people who think they're so superior to everyone else.
  Its funny you should be so concerned about me hitting my head and losing my knowledge. I debate the origin of type IIE iron meteorites based on the oxygen isotope ratios in their silicate inclusions with NASA employees and museum directors for kicks. You, uh, make sure the waiters have their shirts tucked in. I wonder which one of those requires more brain power. Sorry if I'm too low class for you. At least I have fun and enjoy my life.
  I apologize to anyone if I offended you or if you thought I was knocking people who work in the food industry. The guy who I went to lunch with today and his partner are working to get their resteraunt opened as we speak and it seems like its really going to be a fun place where they work hard at. I have no problem with anyone or how they make their money. I just have a problem with people getting snotty about how they do it.
  BTW deepinass, since you're going on about people being able to afford stuff, I still have that half gram of moon rock for $2,200 if you want it. Do a search for NWA482 and see the prices for yourself. Also, I'm friends with the guys that brought that meteorite out of Morocco.

  How is it obvious that I'm not social enough or have the dignity to step up and face Real people in there real faces?
  Actually, I do get out quite a bit. I don't turn my computer off though because its also the webserver for one of the websites I run. I'll be heading out to have lunch with one of my friends quite soon and a little later my wife and I are planning on going roller blading. Then again, you're sitting here arguing with me just as much as you claim I am. Kind of like the pot calling the kettle black wouldn't you say? How about you? How often do you get out?

  And in case you've not noticed, there are threads that actually aren't about JW stuff on here. Get your head out of your ass and go read some.
  Just out of curiosity, what do you do to make a living? I sell rocks and do some free lance web design. I might work 20 hours or so a week with no boss and am able to pay all my bills on time with a little extra left over. I love my job!!!! Just about all my friends are rather envious to say the least as well.

  Hey, I'm just saying there are some groups that are quite good at policing themselves. The meteorite industry being one of them. As for jobs, how do you think I pay my bills. I'm sure that piece of Mars rock that I sold to the Bern (Switzerland) Natural History Museum certainly helped. Oh, and there was that trade I did with the Smithsonian to get an entirely new class of meteorite into the private sector helped too. I know the Smithsonian was quite happy to be able to study sulferic reduction in H impact melts because of it. Not to mention getting a few pieces of an extremely rare (and expensive) type of meteorite from the Viena Natural History Museum. Of course I can't forget selling some educational materials to Texas Christian University either. Who knows how many people have rare meteorites in the collection now because of me? Hey, if you want to buy .54 grams of moon rock let me know. I've got it $500 under market value for $2,200 right now. I'll even cover shipping.

  Hmm, let me see if I've got this straight, I'm insensitive because I say the JW's are the cult that they are? If I'm horrible for that you might not want to stick around here much longer because I'm not exactly the only one that feels that way here. Then again, I'm sure others will get as good a laugh at you as I am.

  Actually, one more time because you didn't exactly answer the question, how am I ignorant and why would I not be welcome at a funeral? Come on deepinass, just answer the question clearly instead of making broad, fancy accusations.

  Just speaking from personal experience I know for a fact that some professional groups are quite good at policing themselves. One example would be the meteorite dealing community. There's a very valid concern of people selling ordinary rocks they find out in their driveway as genuine meteorites. Its usually an honest mistake but there are times when people knowingly do that. A very well respected college astronomy professor, his son who makes his living preparing meteorites for study, the head of the American Meteorite Lab who is also a well known meteorite hunter, a meteorite dealer and myself started an organization that polices our industry. We are kind of like the BBB in that we will back up our respective members but to become a member you have to open yourself to scrutiny and have two current members say you only sell exactly what you say you sell and are smart enough to know the difference between real meteorites and fakes. All members also continually watch what other members offer to make sure they ALWAYS deal in authentic meteorites (once you've handled them quite a bit you can usually tell just by looking at them).
