  i know that jw's say only 144,000. however, i just read a book called "as time runs out" by robert jeffress and he claims that all christians who have received jesus will be picked up at the rapture.

  but, he says, we will not all have the same rank in heaven.

  he claims that different responsibilities will be assigned.

  Genesis. There's that whole bit about god creating things on different days. If you'll go read it, you'll notice that it says he was done after the sixth. Believe it or not, the earth is more than a few thousand years old. The earth (and the rest of our solar system) is around 4.5-4.6 billion years old.

  Now you know how I feel reading your words on the rapture. I find it really amusing that you had to resort to this instead of actually answering the points I made. Then again, that's fairly typical of true believers. BTW, I'm still expecting all of your money. I'm not joking either. Using your own reasoning the paper on my table is just as valid as the bible.

  ok, don't think i'm nuts, but i have a rather personal question to ask you.

  it's just that i saw a kid do this and i've never seen it in my life, and then a friend told me it happens to her too...every time.... ok, so the question is:.

  do you shed tears and get a runny nose when doing number two?.

  Well, I've been known to clog a toiler or two (ok, its more than that) up in my time but can't say I've ever cried after doing the deed. Don't get me wrong, I've been in pain but not that bad.

  Hehehehe, I'll deal with the flaming words in the sky after the rapture when they come. I'm not scared though, the green flying chipmunks that inhabit my part of the world will protect me from all the meanies when that happens. And what if the chipmunks don't protect you because you didn't send me your money? And what if they make you listen to nonstop polka music? And what if the gargle really loudly? Frankly, I'm more scared of the chipmunks than I am of the rapture. But then again, I know the secret to get them to protect me so I'm soafe!
  I couldn't care less about how various people could try to prove the bible is oh so inspired. I want to see the bible stand on its own two feet and prove itself. The fact is there are errors in it. This is supposed to be the perfect book of god. If there are errors in one thing there could very easily be errors in others. Then again, when you state two contradictory things, one'll be right and you can still say you were right even though you were wrong as well.

  Ah, but where would the museums get their meteorites? Go to eBay and search for meteorites to get an idea of how popular they are. If you want to see some pricey stuff go to http://fernlea.tripod.com. Rob's one of the biggest dealers in the world and also one of the nicest. He's got some pretty amazing stuff. For all that, check out http://www.sv-meteorites.com while your're at it. Serguei recently had a meteorite featured in Sky & Telescope that he found while out in a desert hunting for meteorites. We do a lot of business together and I have acted as an american distributor for him numerous times.
  As for groups policing themselves, I agree that religions don't exactly have the best track record in the world but I wanted to offer a view from the inside of a group that polices a certain industry.

  35yrs old going on 15 !

  my husband and i have been out of the jw for about 10 months now, not d/a or d/f yet.

  they just havent caught us on some things they could get us for !

  but that is all fluff, we dont beleive a thing they teach anymore.

  Hi Lyin,
  First of all, in case you've not noticed I'm somewhat biased so be forewarned.
  You sound like you have one of the healthiest attitudes of everyone here. You don't know and can admit it. Look, people have been trying to figure out what happens after you die since they started to live and no one has been able to offer a conclusive answer. No offense but I doubt you will either. Don't worry about it. Instead of focusing on what may or may not happen after you die worry more about what happens before then. Live a good life. Enjoy it. Treat others well. Do the best you can. That way, you get to enjoy this one and if there actually is a next one (in whatever form) you'll be able to show you lived this one well and were a good person which is all that matters.
  Take it easy and I sincerely hope for the best for you in this life and whatever happens when its over.

  Oh yes, just for the record, I wasn't talking about meteors. I was talking about meteorites. Big difference there. Meteors are those bright things that shoot across the sky that are commonly known as shooting stars. Meteorites are rocks from space that actually survive the fiery journey and hit the earth intact with a burnt covering (the fusion crust). Occasionaly a meteor will become a meteorite and hit the ground but that doesn't happen very often at all. Meteors are usually the size of dust (maybe just a tad larger but not much) when they hit the atmosphere. They hit it going extremely quick which is why they burn. They also have a very high surface to weight ratio which aids in the fire show that you get. Meteorites can be significanlty larger, up to a few tons in some cases but those are almost always large lumps of a nickel-iron alloy containing anywhere between 4%-65% (65% in only one extremely rare iron, its usually around 15% which is represented by the relatively common type IIIAB irons and the main group pallasites) nickel in relation to the iron. The chemical make up of the two are usually quite different as well. Meteors are almost always very lightweight carbonaceous material with very little or no nickel-iron content. Meteorites are usually silicate material with varying amounts of nickel-iron alloy (between approximately 12%-27%). There are rare cases where meteorites (especially those represented in the CI1 group, C meaning carbonaceous, I meaning Ivuna like ((Ivuna being the name of a rare meteorite that fell 1938 in Tanzania. I've got a small piece of it.)) 1 meaning a type 1 chondrite. Type 1's have had their chondritic structure totally altered by aqueus methods and there are only around 6 in existence. I have a piece of two of them in my collection) contain an appreciable amount of carbonaceous material (up to around 6% or 7%) but those are quite rare and even then there is still some nickel and iron that's been oxidized into magnetite because they were formed further out in the solar system. The reason for that is the solar wind wiped out the volatile elements (in this case we're really only concerned about oxygen) out of the inner solar system and the further out you go the more oxygen is available to bring the nickel and iron into various forms of silicates including the various forms of olivine and pyroxene. This is very evident in the rare class of E chondrites which contain virtually no oxidized metal and very little olivine. They are called E chondrites because the pyroxene has virtually no oxidized nickel iron so the pyroxene is in the form of almost pure Enstatite. Its been proven that the parent bodies of these meteorites were most likely formed within the orbit of Mercury where the solar wind was able to wipe out almost all traces of the volatile elements and in this case the oh so important oxygen.
  If you're going to make jokes about me and my rocks, at least get it straight moron.
