  JW anti-gay children movie viral in Netherlands national media + official reaction of JW spokesman Branch office

  various dutch (netherlands) media mentioned the anti-gay children movie on jw.org,.

  and gay, lesbian, transgender and bisexual organizations are shocked, and some gay people.

  are reporting the movie to the local police.. the official spokesman of the dutch branch office in emmen declared that the movie is.

  I don't condone at all any of the JW doctrines, and I consider myself an agnostic. Having said that, I believe it is their right to publish this video. This is the difference between the US and most of the other "western" worlds. Our very core foundation was based on "freedom of expression" and "freedom of religion". The gov cannot and should not interfere with religious doctrines. Anyone pushing for limits by the gov should remember that one day those very limits may be placed on the things they believe to be "right".

  Few things to consider:
  

  -Everyone here knows JWs are fundamentalist that take the bible very literally and claim that it is the ultimate authority of law. EVERYBODY here knows what the bible says about homosexuality.

  -A parent has the right, which no gov or external entity can replace, to teach moral and religious standards to their children. Whether you like it or not. The child will become an adult one day and will make the decision to live by those parental standards or not, as have many ex-JW's once they grew of age.
  

  -Most of you know that bringing outside pressure from the community or gov to speak out against JWs or their doctrines only reinforces them to believe it is Satan's corrupt world persecuting them, as they believe to be "prophesied" in the bible. If you were a true JW at some point in your life, then you should know this. Going after them by pressure only reinforces them.. if you want change, two major factors are needed: Patience and Love. No way around it my friends, history has proved it.

  Is this the best you have to offer. Trump / Clinton?

  here in uk we have appalling choice between cameron / corby and some also rans.

  are trump/clinton best the worlds superpower can offer up?

  all candidates for office seem to be flawed , are no genuine people putting themselves forward?

  Here in the US, we believe the quality of the ppl (and not it's leaders) as individuals is what determines the state of the country; and that it's leaders are only a representation of the state of the people.

  That being the case, one can by it's leaders see where the ppl are. Sadly, more and more citizens are wrapped up with the ignorant bliss of the degraded contemporary culture (aka Kardashians, miley cyrus, etc)

  I was reading this week's study article on remaining loyal to Jah. Found an interesting contradiction on shunning. They cite two experiences. In one a JW shuns her mom and her example is posted as a positive one of someone doing the right thing. The second example however of a JW being shunned by his non-JW family is labeled as an injustice. Here's first one:

  Forexample, a sister named Anne[1] received
  a telephone call from her disfellowshipped
  mother. The mother wanted to
  visit Anne because she felt pained by
  her isolation from the family. Anne was
  deeply distressed by the plea and promised
  to reply by letter. Before writing,
  she reviewed Bible principles. (1 Cor. 5:
  11; 2 John 9-11) Anne wrote and kindly
  reminded her mother that she had
  cut herself off from the family by her

  wrongdoing and unrepentant attitude.
  “The only way you can relieve your pain

  So, the example above demonstrates the supposed loyal faith of a daughter that refused to talk to the woman that gave birth to her, raised her and surely sacrificed so much for her. This, the Watchtower claims, is an example of love and loyalty. Now let's see the second example cited in the same article in a latter paragraph:

  In this example, the non-JW family members were cruel, because they "opposed his association" and "forbid him to visit them for years". Yet, isn't this exactly what the JW daughter from the first experience was doing to her mother? only in reverse?

  Proclaimers Book claims anyone can leave the org

  was going through proclaimers book and found this little nugget on page 232. there is so much wrong with this paragraph that my head almost exploded when i read it.. however, i was thinking, perhaps those like me that are trying to fade away without "trouble", can use this in the case that an elder should start questioning with intent of escalating matters.

  Drifting what i've feared has started already...

  Hi Pale.Emperor,

  Congratulations on opening your eyes and using your conscience. It's no easy task for indoctrinated JW's to allow themselves to see beyond what they are told to look at.

  Each one of us "drifts" or fades differently, but it seems you've already taken the first big step in having not preached in half a year. You are now considered "inactive" and thus you will probably be receiving some "shepherding" calls from your elders, particularly come CO visit time.

  You have a few options:

  -You can tell them the truth about your conclusions, which will most likely result in your DF

  -You can maneuver the system to your advantage to bend the truth of your thoughts. (for instance when ray franz was asked if he thought the GB was the "slave", he said "it could be") This might not guarantee you wont be DF, but if you play your cards right, you can get away as someone who has doubts, but is not an apostate.

  -You can hide, switching congs and avoiding shepherding calls altogether, but this does not seem to be a realistic option for you.

  Freedom from Religion

  it should be mandatory for s.c.justices,judges and attorneys to take a four year course.

  on the history of religion,bible and the koran.iam sure they would conclude that religion.

  has little value in society.there would be no such thing as religious accommodation(lawsuits).

  Forcing anyone to do or not do something will accomplish nothing but make the enforcer fall within the same tyrannical structure that the world's organized religions display.

  Communist/leftist countries have tried, for almost a century now, to eliminate religion from it's lands. Although they have succeeded to certain extents in doing so, I doubt you would hardly find those places to be the utopias of the planet. Reason being is that ultimately, we must respect human conscience.

  For whatever reason one might believe, whether through evolutionary process or because there is indeed a God that created us that way, we humans have displayed an innate necessity for spirituality, a need to connect to a greater good, usually done through worship of our believed deity. We cannot eliminate this through mandate. History has proven it.

  Patience and love is key, not Tyranny.

  I'm so proud of you Love. Thank you for always going about it with an open mind, always listening to me and expressing your point of view respectfully as well. I know you struggled greatly with the thought of having to live and raise your children with an "unbelieving spouse". I know that must have been a terrifying thought.

  Now we shall slowly work our way out. It seems many more like us will inevitably result as the years go by, so we will need to be there for them, to help in their journey as well.

  Walking a thin line - Resigning Elder

  warning of a long boring post ahead.

  i feel like i need to vent my story out, as i feel quite helpless at the moment.. i'm 31 year old, married, father of toddler with another one on the way, due later this month.

  i've been serving as elder for about 4 years now in a south florida congregation.

  Indeed as Zappa mentioned above,

  I'm proud to announce that my wife has seen the light, only a few months after me.

  Words cannot describe the great relief I feel from knowing that my wife and kids will avoid the particular struggles of belonging to such an organization. There's still a long journey ahead as we fade, especially since all the rest of our family is in, (not to mention the emotional healing we will need) but now, at least, I'm not alone. I trust we can accomplish it together.

  I want to thank you all for the words of encouragement as well as for your tips. They were very incredibly valuable in helping me deal "gently" with her.
