  I never understood field service...

  it was always boring, and i was afraid that i was gonna get attacked by a dog.

  i actually almost got attacked by a rottweiler once.

  i didnt get paid for it, nobody listened to us, i actually had guys make passes at me while i was out doing street corner, i was always afraid i would get grouped and raped.

  I asked my wife in her 20 plus years of fs if she ever got into some odd or deep theological debates or discussions.

  She said no.

  I found that depressing.

  Is ANYONE in charge a real ordained minister? College degrees? Seminary? A real Theological degree?

  and i don't mean that stupid made up shit russell just invented only a 100 yrs ago.

  he never passed the 7th grade and declared that the world was too stupid to understand the bible without him.. who do you follow and pore money into the watchtower?.

  I was in the KH once with my wife and carrying my NIV and started to get some unwanted attention from the witnesses. One asked to see my bible and flipped to the book of john , right to chapter one and she was “ The word was a god, not god “. She was a real uber bitch type.

  I then asked her to explain the book of John and what makes it different than the other gospels ?

  She looked at me like she had seen a ghost.

  I later went on to explain to her how the book of john unlike the other gospels deals with the issue the person of Jesus Christ and who he really was. I started to point out to her some of the I AM statements and old testament quotes and who the author thought Jesus was.

  She just walked away and later told the elders.

  I am hardly a theologian but I think it is good to study the bible in terms of context and audience. It’s not a matter of passing or failing. It to have enough brains to know when someone is creating dogma by cherry picking verses.

  converting to catholic

  hello i was wondering if any ex jw have converted to catholic?

  i have been tossing the idea around a bit and wondering if it was woth it from personal experience?

  Being a Christian means you become a member of Christ's church or the body of christ.

  I wouldn't sweat the details man. No denomination is going to save you. If you want to be a Catholic , it's all good.

  I have often it strange that people with a serious religion education on both a secular and spiritual level aren't lining up to become jehovah witnesses.

  Has anyone either heard of a pastor, priest or professor of theology becoming a jehovah witness?

  Mormons vs. Jehovah's Witnesses

  forgive me if this has been covered before but i haven't seen anything about it recently.. in exploring the two faiths, mormons vs. jehovah's witnesses, which were both founded in the 1800s with the mormons being slightly a slightly older religion it seems mormons is a more attractive religion than jehovah's witnesses.

  do not get me wrong, i'm not looking at joining the mormon church.

  but i still enjoy studying other faiths and different belief systems.

  I have seen a program once about the book of Mormon and how there is basically no archaeology evidence that anything in it has a lick of truth.

  It is completely insane to me but general ly pretty harmless.

  I cconsider things cults more on there destroying lives and families than actual theology.

  elder: plese watch the november programm on jw broadcasting.. me: what i hope for is the change of the doctrine that states that jesus is not the mediator between jehovah and all jw's but only between jehovah and the 144000. i believe jesus is my mediator even if i am not one of the 144000. .

  elder: may jehovah open your mind and heart.

  me: may he open everyone's mind and heart.

  I don't think the average jw even realizes the chronology of their religion.

  Essentially the new testament was just written for the magical 144000 which was later revised only people in the borg at 1919 and no later than 1935.

  Then in 2013 the entire body of spiritual annoited christians was replaced by the fds.

  I really how many dubs realize this? The entire religion is based on the idea you can't have a relationship with God.

  It was actually him and his wife that gave it as a gift and it will be a least a year before he will fit into it. It was just the jw statement it made that pissed me off.

  I wonder of there are any stats on mixed households and the kids retaining the religion. I believe the odds are in my favor especially with my being just a social witness.

  You should have asked him where in the bible does it say gods final arrangement with mankind was to give us seven magical men and only though our works and obedience to the magic seven will we survive in pending armegeddon.
