I hope you people realize that becoming a scientist isn’t like becoming a JW. It takes years of serious study and a real education.
What cofty is doing here is the equivalent of handing out 2 to 3 page bible tracts.
evolution works by the non-random selection of random mutation.
natural selection accumulates favourable random chance events.. the experiment that was began on 24th february 1988 on e coli bacteria by dr richard e. lenski and his team is surely one of the clearest demonstrations of the power of this process.. e.coli is one of the commonest bacterium on earth, there is around 100 billion, billion of them in the world at any given time and around 1 billion of them in your gut right now.
most of the time they cause no problem, until a new strain wreaks havoc on its host's digestive system.. if we assume the probability of a particular gene mutating to be 1 in a billion, the size of the population is so high that just about every gene in the e.coli genome will have mutated somewhere in the world every day.

my wife who is currently on maternity leave made a comment about luck she was to leave in canada because we get 52 weeks maternity at basically 40,000 per year.
she is not originally from canada coming from a country with basically no maternity leave.
i told her to make sure she doesn't say anything like that at kh.
Americans have no paid maternity leave ?
Its just unemployment insurance in Canada.
Man, that's rough
if anyone had to guess, what do you think the average age of the community actually is?.
are more millennials actually waking up or is it pretty even amongst previous generations as well?
.
I remember buying Nirvana nevermind and the world just seemed to be different after that point.
Gen x er here.

I told her to make sure she doesn't say anything like that at KH. You know with all goverments in the world being controlled by satan and such.
She told me I was out of line and they are respectful and pay their taxes and such.
I asked her if she ever heard anyone in a prayer at the KH say thanks to Jehovah for living in a place like Canada ? I also told her the average JW never reaches an income level where they pay any serious taxes and they will always take much more of the system than they will ever put back in.
Silence after that. ( the way it usually ends up )
I thought it was funny
Does it ever bother you or did it bother you how disrespectful JWs were on this subject ? Pisses me off some fierce.
it never hit me until i was out.
matt:23;4 "they tie up heavy, cumbersome loads and put them.
on other people shoulders".
AFRIKANMAN
No offensive but none of those dominations are nearly 1/100 as evil as the WTS. The idea of comparing mainstream (yes the Adventists) Christian dominations to that of the WTS is simply ridiculous.
I had a discussion with my uncle who is a Baptist pastor about the issue of congregational disciple and he basically told me it really is a non-issue 99.5 % of the time. If you want to start doing drugs or becoming a swinger or whatever , chances are a person will distance themselves from the church and its members before they start to live this type of lifestyle.
so thinking back about the times when someone has asked my wife what religion she is.
she sheepishly and seems almost embarrassed to say she is a jehovah witness.
when someone asks me, i just say i am a christian.
I met a jw awhile ago and said ,oh your the ones who worship those seven men in Brooklyn? Right?
Pretending I didn't actually know anything about it.
I just got a stupid look and walked away.
I facebook stalk the dubs. It's really amazing how many have no trace of being a dub.

I remember at an assembly they were doing a talk on how idol worshippers and extortioners won't see God's kingdom.
I literally puked. I got so pissed off I just to leave.
It's like there is something supernaturally evil and it is just mocking us.
Sorry, I forgot the verse.

I also thought the one they used for shunning, something like if you love your family more than you love me, you are not worthy of me.
For me it seems to apply more for becoming a christian and leaving the borg than ignoring your own children.
They like to talk about the opposition they face when becoming one of jehovah witness but the real price to be paid is when you leave. The same can be said for a Muslim becoming a christian.
so, a few years ago my jw parents, my non jw sister and her husband, and myself were discussing religion and jw beliefs.
my parents of course defending the jw's, the rest of us, against jw's ( it may not have been specifically against jw's, maybe just religion in general) anyway, things are getting a little heated, and i finally ask my pops, if the watchtower bible and tract society told you to go out and start killing muslims, would you do it?
yes i would, was his reply, to which i say, then your not any different than the radical muslims killing in the name of religion.
The other night I was watching this program with my wife called “the 90s “ the last great generation. They had a small piece on the cults and mass suicides of period. They went into some detail about the tempar knights cult and how they believed it was doomsday and it was best to not be alive during the great tribulation etc etc.
She asked me to turn the channel. I could see it upset her kind of.
It gave me just a glimmer of hope.
