I was renting a room for a while to my wives JW in-laws. It was a husband, wife and 5 year old child.
One evening two elders showed up ( childless also) to do a shepherding call because the 5 year old looked get this……………. uninterested during the meetings. Basically they told him he wasn’t a good child and they were bad parents for not making their child love Jehovah.
I had to leave the house it was so disgusting.
As a whole I can stand the women. For the majority of them it is just a club. Of course there are some real biggest dog in the yard bitches but that just isn’t a JW thing. Plus there are some shunning Gestapo females I have met I can’t stand.
There are some elders though I truly dislike. Narcissistic, arrogant, dishonest, delusional sense of self- importance, uneducated. My current hall it just seems the biggest loser automatically gets the job.
Something that really bothers me and there is a certain elder in my hall who likes to make the stupidest over the top comments just in an attempt make people roll their eyes so he can spot the ones who haven’t bought it lock stock and sinker.
on a previous post mamacita29 pointed up the low quality of new jw converts.. is the quality falling even more as the society use lower than low meeting, talks, broadcasts etc.. when i was active initially the organisation and standards seemed totally different today.
i have seen hard working intelligent elders fall by death or exhaustion.
the younger generation that came along never really grasped responsibility hence shortage of good elders, never mind the watered down to almost nothing quality of meetings.
We use to have a guy come to the hall in Sweat Pants and a Hockey Jersey. He looked like a wrestling jobber from the WWF of the 80s.
He obviously was mentally ill. No one would talk to him but he kept coming for about 4 months.
If go around knocking on doors , what do you expect ?
so it's official, i am happy to report that we merged with another congregation having the same problem.
why is it good news???
because people are either waking up, fading or just not buying into this organization any longer or walking away.... i think many young ones are just not buying into it as much, i see many in the congregation i go to very depressed and some i know personally going thru major depression especially the young "sisters" in their early 20s.... .
This has happened to the last two congregations I have been involved with.
They are not even getting upset with studues wearing jeans to the kingdom hall.

I think 10-11 dollars an hour is fair for both business and the working joe. Something I don't know if Americans realize the value of your dollar really affords you purchasing power. Also in most markets you can still buy a decent entry level house in the $100,000 dollar range.
In Canada the average house price is over the $400,000 mark and everything we import in the last year just become 30% more expensive.

After the talk the elder I was studying with asked me what did I think of the talk and I was “ What the hell is wrong with you people. There are bloody kids in here and your talk was basically pornographic. It is disgusting and there is no need to talk of unclean things in such detail “
Of course there was a certain amount of acting on my part. I loved to pull the holier than thou card out once and awhile.

I was born in 1974 but I do have more nostalgia for the 90s than the 80s.
Grunge ( Nirvana, Hole, Alice in Chains etc ) Post Grunge( Blink 182, Green Day, Oasis etc ), Kevin Smith movies, X-files, Me being in trade school, road trips across Canada and the United States, buy a house for 40,000 dollars, birth of internet, the television show friends, stupid shit making the news like OJ and Tonya Hardening because the world wasn’t that scary.
I am glad my childhood was in the 80s though. We actually had find stuff to do besides playing on Ipad.
Me and my friends use to watch Red Dawn over and over and play wolverines. I kind of miss the days of the big scary Soviet Union.
