My wife has a friend who walked away at 17. Got pregnant out of wedlock at 30 and had to get up in front of the last kingdom hall and repent. Half the people in the hall had no idea who she even was and she didn’t bother ever attending again.
All so she could keep contact with her parents. It was all so fake.
I was just wondering when you were active , did you see the stupidity of the whole charade.

I am sure people know. You can't be seen in a suit and tie in a restaurant sunday at 12.00 without some gossip.
I think he has a brother and sister still in. All either family members have either faded or never were baptized.
He is a very sinerce person i don't believe he even cares what the elders think.
Is there a point where is it pointless to make an issue of it , especially if you don't have a big JW family to guilt/extort you into attending.
when i was on the train this morning i spotted that the guy stood next to me in the rush hour crush was reading the daily text on the jw app.
i paid little attention and went back to reading my book (catch-22 - thanks frazzled .

I remember one time this two guys came into our KH one Sunday morning just dressed in jeans and t-shirts. They were first nations people. Kind of rough around the edges but not total dirtballs.
Somehow during the study the subject of proper Christian attire came up and she piped up “ YOU KNOW, GOD HAS A DRESS CODE “. I started to laugh. What a bitch.
They walked out, never to be seen again. Usually they wait till they have sucked you into the cult before they treat you like shyte “.
i have had 3 sessions of what is most likely being tracked as a "bible study" with an elderette who is from the kh we stopped attending about 3-4 years ago.. after last week's visit and bible verse study, she asked me if she should return.
i had expressed concerns that she was a heretic, and i had a friend who had warned me not to let her into my house.
i told her i had to think about whether i wanted to study the bible teach book with her.
I remember when I was studying and they were explaining the 1914 thing to me and I started to ask questions.
1. What does a marked year mean and what was taught before 1914 ?
2. Why should Jerusalem mean anything other than the city of Jerusalem when talking to a bunch of pissed off jews in the city of Jerusalem.
3. Where is the day for a year rule in the bible ?
4. How is the tree in Daniel 4 related to the end times when it clearly says represents the kingdom of .......I can't spell it.
5. Why does every other source site 583 over 607 to the fall of Jerusalem.
6. Then the generation of 1914 was not suppose to live to see the end of the system of things. Now how long is a generation ??
That was my last study. They never called back.

In most western nations the hardcore JW are usually the baby boom generation or older. I just had a friend who was 60 years old walk away. All he had to do was wait till his 80 something year old parents passed away. It will be interesting to see what happens once the baby boomers start to leave us.
Another interesting fact in Canada since 1995 there has been nearly 65000 baptisms but only a growth of 9000 publishers. Eventually the old ones will die off. I think we are reaching peak witnesses sooon, aleast in the west.
the constant references to 'window washers' as something derogatory.. i understand the context of it-that most jws are uneducated, and unqualified to do much more.
but sometimes the references seem snobbish, almost mean-spirited.
one poster, on another thread, essentially referred to window washers as 'losers'.

I would like to start off by saying I am sorry. I never met to be belittling anyone on this board or slag anyone who does blue collar work. Allah knows I have done enough manual labour in my life and I don’t have a large amount of post-secondary education.
I wasn’t really making a reference to manual labour. I was just making more of a reference how the WTS can either make people socially inept of just down right lazy.
I know pioneers who are not driven by their sincere love of teaching the bible but because they are just too f-ing useless to hold a job or put an honest day’s work in. Of course they are living with Mommy and Daddy or some spouse is killing himself to make ends meet.
I knew a guy who would leave watchtowers in the coffee room at work and the boss would ask him not to do that. Of course he would make an issue of it and not listen and would lose his job over it and it would happen over and over. Daddy Elder thought he was a real hero for it. Truth is he was one dam lazy bastard.
I hope that clears things up of what I consider a loser and how it relates to the WTS. Please no offence to the working joe’s on the board because I am right there with you.
The last two C ongregations I have been in have merged with other ones.
The first one I was in claimed to have two congregations each with about 70 publishers. Funny thing is I have never seen more than 45 people at a meeting. I think they finally just merged because too many people were playing " They must be at the other meeting " game. I swear 80% are 50 years and older.
Second one is a small rural one where all the elders have moved in, do there six months and leave. Finally had to close the other hall 50 kms away to make one decent congregations. Funny thing is they have included 3 and 4 year olds as publishers.
it seems every cong seems to have some guy who is 35 and never had a job or moved out of mom and dads basement.. i knew a guy who just hand out magazines at work so he would get eventually fired and could sleep in till noon everyday.
of course his elder father though he was a real matyr cause he kept losing jobs for jehovah.
i have an electrican friend who apprenticed some jw kid till he got his ticket and he quit him to pioneering.
It seems every cong seems to have some guy who is 35 and never had a job or moved out of mom and dads basement.

one of my co workers mother made my 4 year old a blanket with the disney character tinkerbell on it.
as soon as i got it i knew trouble lay ahead.
i wanted to reason with her before my daughter saw it so as not to cause a disruption, but it didn't work out that way.
I remember in the Kingdom Hall one time there was someone doing this talk and somehow the twilight thing came up and the dangers of vampire culture while there was this little child coloring away in his sesame street coloring book with a picture of the count on the front.
I had a little laugh about it.

To me the C.O visits are like remember when you watch the first two star wars movies and you think Darth Vader is the biggest prick in the galaxy , then you watch ‘”Return of the Jedi” and realize the emperor is an a bigger dick than Darth Vader.
That is kind of how I think the Elder /C.O relationship is, right down to getting the Kingdom Hall cleaned up is Darth Vader rushing to get the Death Star operational for the Emperors visit.
