as you all know - it is a "works based" belief - if you do enough you might make it.
i have struggled with that concept since i was little, wondering how in the world we could ever do enough to be considered worthy.

Those who are not saved CAN be saved by WANTING to be saved. The only thing God asks us to do is to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord in your heart, not halfheartedly but sincerely so and out of a pure heart. God gives us life FREE, we do not have to do works to earn God's gift - it's by means of God's grace that we can be saved. So my desire is to tell anyone about Jesus Christ and to show them that the only thing they have to do to receive life free as a gift is to accept Him as your Lord. So everybody has a chance for life, but only when people draw close to God by accepting Jesus will He give us life. It's as simple as that! Then when the Holy Spirit resides in you, you will feel that - you are driven to do what is right. Of course, we still make mistakes and sin often, but Jesus died for mankind, sothat our sins can be FORGIVEN once and for all times.

Thank you for your interesting thread. I too became a believer in that I have accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior. The interesting thing is that I now do understand the bible. When you're saved (by accepting Jesus as your Lord), you will experience the Holy Spirit who is living inside of you and he will guide and direct you in your "new" life. You're driven to pursue a more wholesome way of life and your whole outlook will be changed for the better. One important thing to remember is: do NOT read the NWT translation as it is full of alterations and changes from the original translations. I prefer the NIV bible, although the new King James I like too. It doesn't matter which bible you read, except don't read the NWT, as it only confuses you.
Otherwise, thanks so much for the explanation in your thread, as that makes all the sense in the world.

The news media I compared FOX with were written in my previous posts. I am sure that there exist other less-known media organizations such as the ones you mentioned. Isn't C-Span more a media where they show live-programming on political issues without adding private comments and reporting? The other one you mentioned (NPR) I do not know, but could you please enlighten me? Appreciate it!

Yes I meant it: FOX News gives the most reliable and balanced information compared to all the media available in the USA. Mind you, MSNBC is not that bad either but doesn't come close to FOX. The rest is pitiful and biased against any Republican sympathizer, which is why many people are confused politically and have the tendancy to be anti-Bush.

My daughter invited me over to the KH today as her husband (an elder) was going to give a talk from a new outline. I just said "thank you for inviting me", but did not attend. I love my daughter very much and just to go to the meeting because I love her does not make sense at all. In fact, by me going to a meeting at the KH would be a slap in the face and blashphemy to my Lord and Saviour. To sit and listen to the speaker at the KH (while everyone else would be ignoring me as I am df'd) with biased information coming from the Borg is a travesty in the highest degree. The Watchtower is so guilty of sinning against the Holy Spirit: they have changed, elaborated and put their own idolatrous spin in their NWT bible while adding their twisted rules and regulations, which is worse or at best similar to the mindset of the Pharisees. The Watchtower is controlled and guided by "another spirit" (NOT the Holy Spirit) as Satan and his hordes are certainly deceiving them royally over the many decades of false teaching by making them actually believe that what they have is the "truth". Instead I have been going to my church faithfully now for the last 12 months where I finally accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord in Nov 2003. My daughter doesn't know this yet, but I guess she will find out eventually. Her response would then be that my dad is now an apostate. Contrary to her belief, the opposite would be true: serving God the correct way makes one free at last, as the real truth will set you free (John 10:28, John 11:25).

Most people think that drinking diet Coke or any Diet drink will make them lose weight. Recent studies proved that by taking aspartame, you're actually GAINING weight and intake of aspartame is also linked to lupus, multiple sclerosis, is dangerous to diabetics and causes cancer or allergic reactions. Aspartame can be hazardous to the one in 20,000 people born with phenylketonuria, which is the inability to metabolize phenylalaine (aspartame's main component) High blood levels of phenylalaine can interfere with mental function, which is why all foods containing aspartame must be labelled. Another concern: when aspartame breaks down in the body, it releases methanol, a gas that negatively affects optic nerve function and interferes with blood supply to the retina, resulting in vision loss. Additionally, aspartame can cause dizziness, headaches, epileptic-like seizures, insomnia, vertigo, rashes and anxiety.
When you see aspartame anywhere on any foods, DO NOT buy it. If you have bought something with that substance, then just throw it out. Your health is more important than anything else!

Interesting information Englishman! I also know that drinking about 5 - 8 glasses of water a day can improve asthma by 50%. It is also important to drink water before and after meals, NOT during meals. Another benefit: skin-tone is improved and less wrinkles. The water I drink has to be purified by a filter and I make sure there is NO fluoride in the water! I alternate by drinking 20% distilled water and 80% regular and/or bottled water, but I always filter the water no matter if it's bottled or not.
When I wake up in the morning, the 1st thing I do is drink a large glass of water on an empty stomach. I always add a tiny bit of lemon juice in my water, so the electrolites will make it possible to allow the water to be absorbed faster into your body.

About the WMD: There are reliable reports that most if not all WMD may have been shipped to Syria - Saddam had enough time to hide these weapons to discredit Bush. In fact, intelligence made actual photographs showing columns of trucks which were headed towards the Syrian border just prior to the invasion by the US. Of course, it's impossible to prove that these trucks carried these dangerous weapons, but the question can be asked: why were these trucks headed toward Syria? The only way at the time to find out was to invade Syria as well, but that would have been too risky and the US had no mandate to invade Syria. Even if they go to Syria now, it is quite possible that these weapons may have been destroyed.
Look, if Libya had WMD (and Khaddafy confirmed this!), then why would it not be possible for Iraq to have had them. Iraq is a bigger country, more powerful and richer and....they had Saddam who was a terrible despot and when you compare Khaddafy to Saddam, then Khaddafy is a pussycat.

The only good thing about these suicide bombers is that in every case the suice bomber him or herself is dead. Come to think of it, have you ever heard of any Jewish suicide bomber? Untold times you hear of people unfairly bashing the Jewish people and have "sympathy" for the palestinians. Palestinians don't want peace (in their political manifesto they must obliterate Israel) and yet Israel has been trying to make peace with them but to no avail. No wonder they are building a wall around their country for their own protection from these hotheads. I still remember these Palestinians jeering and dancing in the streets on Sept 11, 2001 - you cannot trust them.
