I can't find anything about it on the website. I don't think the committee makes nominations.
You nearly gave me a heart attack with that thread title!
the current members of the governing body and their predecessors have for over one hundred years contributed to the advancement of peace and reconciliation, theodemocracy and human rights in more than 200 countries... on this account, the norwegian nobel committee has decided to nominate the governing body of jehovah's witnesses in 2013 for the nobel peace price.

hi, i've been lurking here for several years and i finally registered.
first i would like to thank the hosts and members for all you do.. .
i'll just give a breif history, i'm a single male mid 40's living in the southeast us.
Welcome from North Carolina, HBH!
You're lucky you weren't married. I had to physically leave my home and divorce my husband in order to get free. (The ex was mentally unstable and getting very angry with me.)
wtf is the wt doing to the minds of the brethren???.
this morning i went to the post office at 7:50am to pick up a package.
turns out the mail box section was open at 8am but the actual post office didn't open until 8:30am... rather than drive home and come back later i decided to get out my car and wait on a nearby park bench.
I'm sure he found the silver lining - he could count the time he spent talking with you!
yep, you can face a judicial committee if you try to kill yourself.

What a good idea! Separate the suicidal person from his/her support network. Brilliant!
when you were a jw did you get together with family or other jw's on christmas day?
most people have off so it would be convenient.
in my mind, if you got together with family or jw's shared a meal or drinks, perhaps watched a movie or played games you did celebrate the day.
When I was a kid my father insisted on dragging us out in field service on all of the holidays. I especially hated interrupting families who were in the process of "having their tree." I mean, who wants to answer the door, letting in freezing cold drafts, only to find it's Jehovah's Witnesses shoving magazines in their face? Couldn't we have a little respect for their family time?
As an adult I refused to go out on Christmas. We'd sit at home and watch TV or read.
.......because i was raised a jw and not allowed to do anything like birthday parties and the like.. i was ridiculed because i was dragged around on the 'ministry'(tm) and my class mates saw and laughed.. i wasn't allowed to go into school morning assembly even though it wasn't religious...just in case.....so i used to get beat up in the cloak room.. i tried to fit in but had too many guilt trips.. i now loathe the god concept and the gb!.
.
I had to stay out of gym class when they were doing yoga and again when they decided we should all learn to slow dance. Everyone thought I was weird.
Punky, did you read my blog this week?
The Odd Life of Jehovah's Witnesses - Standing Out in a Crowd
cagefighter has been a little down in the dumps as usual around the holidays, short days, lack of clear family status and plans for the pagan rituals like everyone else.
i have also been struggling with my belief or lack of in god and god letting idiots with guns run around while he does nothing for children dying of cancer hasn't helped either.
you can say, i have been in a extreme rationalists state of mind.. last week for my small group from church (the umc equivelent of the book study in jw land) we just decided to pop this little movie in the dvd player and light up the fire place.
Oddly enough, the first time I saw it was at a JW family's house in 1986. Thinking back on it, I'm surprised my father didn't faint in an apoplectic fit. He had to rein it in because it was the night before my brother's wedding and we were staying overnight in the house.
i'll refrain from commenting on the shooting.
i spent 2 hours on fb last night doing that.
let's just say i'm a devout 2nd amendment supporter and believe more guns are the answer.. .
Welcome!
i am around 40 years old and i only remember 2 childhood toys.
one was a batman thing that did not fly.
i was traumatised.
Anybody remember two balls on a string called " Click Clacks"
those things hurt like crazy if you missed they were dangerous
Oh yeah! They were banned in my school. The biggest danger was if a ball fell off the string in mid-flight. You could brain somebody with those things!
we bought our 1st real tree............. smells so nice.... and had a xmas party last night............ i am a real pagan now!!
lol...... my head is still swiming lol.
Congratulations!
